Gangstas are really hipsters

Okay, I was leaving Walmart this morning, I walked by the hats. I took notice of a few. They were things like Elmo, Spider Man, Grumpy for Snow White, Batman and Power Rangers. There were others but I'm sure you see what I'm saying. All of the hats had the same flat visor and "gansta" looking style. I'm sure most of you have seen hats like these, if not I shall show a picture.



Now when I think of a "gangsta" I think that they avoid things that are deemed uncool. To many of the "gangstas" the above that I mentioned would be considered uncool. How can you be a "gangsta" if you enjoy Snow White or Elmo? What has changed that made them like these things. The source material is the same, it's not like they've changed what Elmo is. The only change has been that they've added the "gangsta" style look to it.

So I wonder, do "gangstas" really like Elmo and the rest that I've mentioned or do they like to be ironic to what is "gangsta" If the former is true then that means these hardcore "gangstas" that aren't afraid of are in fact scared to show love for something unless it looks the part of "gangsta". Now if the latter is true and they are being ironic, that makes them like hipsters. They are only ironically liking Elmo and the rest because it goes against what is "gangsta".

Therefor by my horrible math.

Gangstas = Hipsters


I use the word Gangsta to mean the popular style that is well popular to most of the high school kids.
