I Finally Have a New Job!

Congrats on the job! I've heard some very terrible things about Walmart so I hope things go well for you!

I've worked for them for a total of 3 years so far in my life, and they're not pleasant to work for, that's for sure.

So after leaving Walmart, a place with terrible everything when it comes to their employees, you've finally landed a job at Walmart.

Ouch, dude.

Yeah, pretty much. But after more than a year with no job and total destitution crashing down upon me, I don't have the luxury of turning it down.

The pay may be awful, but since you're working at night, you can steal their stuff.

Nah don't do that. Bad idea.

I am sure that working for Walmart will be fine. Or, more importantly, I am positive you can handle anything they throw at you.

Well, 3 years of having worked for them in the past has me wary of working for them again. But yeah, I can handle it. It's just temporary anyway (they don't know that).

On the upside, you might be able to get a raise in the future if your wages seem low.

On the downside, that would imply that you were working for Walmart for an extended period of time. Still, it's something.

Also on the downside, Walmart raises are awful. Like, 15-20 cents after a year.

Try getting a promotion? I know it takes effort and patience (and in some cases surrendering your free will), but it's rewarding at least.

I'm pretty sure I've made it clear numerous times that I don't plan to stay at Walmart. A promotion would be the opposite of that.

And that's exactly the kind of attitude that prevents you from getting any sufficient income. For a long time now, i've known you to complain about how you keep struggling with unemployement, or a minimum wage. If you would actually try to move up in the world, instead of leaving every job you have a dislike for, you might actually earn enough to be happy. Pretty much every job sucks when you just start out. Be patient and get out of the proverbial gutter before you think about giving up on a job again. It's impossible to get "the perfect job" right from the start unless you have the necessary education and diplomas.

Effort equals money. You can't just keep hoping to get a well-paid job without putting in any effort.

You presume too much. I do plan to move up. I just will NOT do it at Walmart. They're a horrible excuse for a company. I will continue to look for other employment opportunities.

Considering this is your first job in over a year, don't you think you're a little too eager to just throw Walmart aside? I don't presume to know what you've been going through this past year, but from what i know, you can't afford to throw aside the first opportunity you've gotten since you quit working there last time.

If you have a legitimate personal issue with Walmart (and i do mean that in the full meaning of the phrase), i would understand your reasons, but if that's not the case, you really should just stick with them and see where you can take it before you try to find something else and risk another long period of unemployement.

I can if a better opportunity comes along. I'm personally aiming for warehousing. And yes, I've worked for Walmart for 3 years now and I can say the way they treat their employees a lot of the time is just barely legal, and I take issue with that.

Don't make the mistake of thinking Walmart is the only company that treats their employees like crap. There's alot more than should be statistically possible.

I understand you don't want to stay at Walmart, but you can't always get what you want most. You can hope for something better and one of two things will happen. You can either get lucky and actually get something you want, or you can get your hopes crushed because you can't get that lucky. I'm only suggesting you should play it safe.

If we're talking about workplaces where Yami wants to invest large periods of time, it makes sense for him not to want to waste his time with an ill-suited company. I worked at a calling agency asking for donations and hated my job. I stuck through to the end of the first paycheck and as soon as I found and committed myself to another job opportunity I walked out. I knew when I was starting that I had no plans of staying in that first job, and so I kept looking. Eventually (rather soon, which was convenient), another job presented itself.

I think that if Yami doesn't want to stay at his current job, none of us should judge him for that. I would encourage him to look for something that was more fulfilling, and I'm sure he already knows how to play it safe and look while he's currently employed.

Rarit, you're being that guy again. Be happy (or not) for him that he has the job and leave it at that. We don't get to be the judge of his personal decisions.

I'm just being honest and straight-forward again. If that makes me a bad guy, then so be it.

Yami keeps victimizing himself thinking he's the only guy in the world stuck in a minimum-wage job and a boss who treats him like crap, and keeps complaining about it. Yet he's unwilling to actually stick to what he's doing and EARN a higher wage and maybe even become a boss himself. You can't just get such a thing right off the bat. As for your boss treating you like crap, might as well get used to that, because it's not just Walmart.

You clearly hate Walmart and yet you took a job there. That tells me it was the only job available to you, and not only that, but you were desperate for a job. You're not getting any younger or richer by jumping from one crappy job to the other, so i strongly advise you invest yourself in what you've got.

If you do get a good opportunity, by all means take it. But don't talk like you're leaving Walmart as soon as you get there. Until such an opportunity presents itself, do what you can to work your way up. And who knows, by the time you get said opportunity, you might already have a decent job at Walmart.

It does actually. It's condescending and rude. And no, it's not "so be it" it's stop being so arrogant towards others. He has desperation for some work, you don't need to rub it in his face. He's using it as a temp crutch to find another opportunity. Walmart is notorious for having terrible job advancement.
