Some Stuff About Me

I've been thinking about turning my blog into something interesting and useful, I've had a couple ideas but just as I go to do it I think, "Ah what's the point? Nobody reads these things anyway."

Which for the most part is just me being lazy. So, instead of that, I'll give whoever bothers to read this a bit of an update on what's going on in my personal life, with all the egotistical grandeur that blog posts were meant for.



First of.... I got a promotion!!! ~Actually, I got it like two weeks ago, but I figured it'd be too self-centered to just drop that into the forums at random. That's me, Mr. Humbleness. Actually, I'm so humble, they shoulda made me pope instead of that Francis guy.

Oh yeah, bad jokes are free here, get 'em while they're hot.


Anyway, so yeah, promotion. As I'm sure none of you know, I work in a welding shop where we fabricate pressure vessels for various industries. Other than maybe Aerospace and underwater, it's one of the most skilled and difficult fields any welder can be in, as most of our work has to be 100% X-ray. (Meaning the welds have to be perfect) I passed my certification test, so now I'm officially a ASME certified welder, so I can build vessels and such.

Unfortunately, this does not come with a pay raise <.< Not until I actually start producing vessels and making them money anyway... and even then I'll prolly still have to pull teeth and twist arms to get one -_-"



Second thing on the list...spring needs to get here. Naow. I want to start running again... dam you cold weather, go visit Florida for a change!


Third... I'm drawing again ^.^ However, it's mostly just practice type stuff, figure drawing and realism, nothing worth posting to dA. I haven't been doing much creative stuff because I get so frustrated over my lack of understanding of the fundamentals that drawing any of my own original stuff is pretty much an exercise of my patience more than anything else. So I'm going to try to build up my art education by learning the basics, then hopefully drawing for fun will be that much easier.

Speaking of, I do have a really adorable drawing of Fluttershy that I'm quite proud of, even though it's just a pencil drawing, that may make an appearance in my art thread this weekend. Which will be the first time I've posted to that thread in over a year lol. Oh, btw, I have an art thread.

Ah, wishful thinking...



Fourth, I'm quitting tobacco. Well, trying to anyway. We'll see.


Fifth, and probably most important... I've been thinking about joining the volunteer ambulance corps, aka becoming an EMT. My whole family has been public servants at one time or other, either as EMT's or firefighters, and I basically do nothing but play video games after work so I've been thinking that I could make better use of that time helping people. I've actually been thinking about it for years, but until recently, due to several irl events and even some recent events here on EP, I've been thinking about it more seriously lately.

It bothers me...some of the stuff that happens on here. People who you wish you could help, but can't. However, life is like that...you can't help everybody...you can't save the world by yourself. But this is something I can do, helping people in my small corner of the world.

Maybe I make a difference, maybe not...but I've never really done anything meaningful in my life before, so it couldn't hurt to try, right?


So ya, been thinking about that...



Yup, so anyway, that's it for updates - in one very ego pampering TL;DR blog post. On the plus side, I may have just made great advances towards curing insomnia.
