The corrupted moderators of the MLP Forums

I've heard some similar things about MLPForums. From a personal perspective as one who has staffed a few forums and administrated others (including here) it's just not justifiable to treat your users poorly. Staff are there to serve you, at least they should be. But at the same time it's hard to come down to a personal level with everyone when a forum like that is so large, but it's something they should still strive for. It is unfortunately not too uncommon for boards to exhibit cronyism and ban happy people. It simply comes down to experience and if you have the compassion to want to serve your community vs having shiny buttons at your disposal. Now I'm not a member of MLP Forums so I cannot make a judgement on how they go about their business so I'm not going to and can't really judge them specifically, but you're not the first person I've seen make this sort of argument. I hope that things will be better here for you

I used to be a veteran member on MLPF.

Then I met Zoop. He expressed continued distaste for me. Of course, he was the one to ban me. I brought it up, claiming bias. It was. They were about to reverse my ban, but decided to perma-ban my IP (like it even does anything) after I made a 2nd account to make the claim, since at the time, their helpdesk was bloody garbage.

He was suspended for a short while, under the guise of "vacation".

I do not know who is in charge there now, I imagine the Oop pair and Peter are still big names? I still talk a bit to Peter, but as long as Zoop is there, they'll never let me back.

Would I do it all again?... Of course.

However, I agree with their methods of banning first. It instantly solves whatever problem there may be while allowing them the time to properly resolve it. That does not necessarily mean they are corrupt. Not only that, but there are only about 3-4 people that make any real decisions on that forum, same here. Same with nearly every board.

Feld0/Pete reviews every ban personally. He doesn't care about the details or the context, only if a rule was broken...if a rule was broken, appropriate action will be taken.

tl;dr, they can be real asses at times, but they do what they have to do. They do have 5K+ active users, after all.

I have seen no evidence of corruption and frankly I'm getting pretty damned sick of this "Moderators are Satan" song and dance. Yeah not all of them are a beacon of perfection but a great minority of the MLPforums moderators are "corrupt" and I use that term very lightly. I find it insulting as someone who counts them as some of my closest and personal friends to read this post.

This "Awesome member" was suspended on multiple occasions and should have taken it onboard the mods were serious. If he wanted to stay he should have come back, blocked the user he had the dispute with, then kept his head down and his mouth shut. The moderators rarely ban those who are not repeat offenders and this is one such situation. Go ahead and be biased but don't slander those who don't deserve it in a place where frankly it doesn't matter. What good will whinging about the mods do here? Stuff all that's what.

I've seen you and your friends post about them in your welcome threads and big deal single posts but making a blog post about it is just juvenile. You're accomplishing nothing so why not just let it go and move on with your life. This user hasn't posted a blog about it and it directly affected him so why exactly drag out the issue and dwell on it? The mods sure as **** won't lose any sleep over a frankly INCREDIBLY biased blog post.

This is a fresh start on a new forum so why not just take it instead of continuing such pettiness?

No offense but this thread just makes me sick don't make assumption that their all corrupt or something they have to keep a forum with 5k+ users safe and clean

Just because a "awesome friend" of yours/ours got banned from there doesn't mean their corrupt i got suspended twice the first one was understandable because i was being a douche and 2nd one i find a bit unfair but i didn't whine about it i didn't call the staff corrupt or file a complaint to them and i learned to keep my mouth shut and keep my head low after those 2 suspensions.

I'd mention a certain "25 (almost 26) year old mlp forums subscriber" that i GREATLY want to throw into a pit of molten needles but i will do that some other time.

Quirky has the right idea. The guy was a sociopath and almost made somebody commit suicide. If it was me, I would have taken legal action, not just banned him. It's not like this is the first time he had done something like this. He was warned on multiple occasions and continued regardless.

There was more than enough evidence he was doing this, not only that, but that he was being assisted by his friends. I would have banned the lot of them, not just him.

I find it quite comical how you label people such as myself when never having as much spoken a word to me, you make your assumptions based off rumors and lies and to be honest I couldn't care less what people who do that think

Lets have a look at why I was banned on multiple occassions.

First ever warning, 200 points: Called Japplejack an ******* for insulting me in honest opinion thread

Second warning: Calling Frozen Pegasus an emo after throwing any advice given to him back in peoples faces and constantly seeking negative attention

Third warning : Calling the member known as Sippie a moron / idiot in the clop survey thread for purposely insulting 'cloppers' and generally being very ignorant.

Fourth warning : Sending a PM to commander tangent asking about his relationship with raiden nightsong. Prior to this PM I had NO contact with raiden and in fact had blocked him because I was sick of his status updates, whining and constant bull****. At this point I considered commander tangent a friend and was officially part of our little 'pony herd' as you may have seen around the forums (me lightning bliss etc etc). In the PM I admit I was harsh probably to much however it was my honest opinion. I told him that he should consider breaking up with this guy due to many warning flags such as being manipulative, lying, also having found out that he was about to dump tangent for someone else via other skype contacts who were raidens friends at the time and I asked tangent does he understand the age differences etc and why people may feel it is strange. I also asked him to keep this message private which he said he would after he explained his relationship and I was more than happy with his explanation.

However after I left the message he proceeded to instantly break that privacy and send it to his 'girlfriend' raiden nightsong who then started up the witch hunt. After several days of Raidens over the top dramatic status and manipulation along with his immature friends like frozen pegasus I was banned on the grounds of the message being intrusive and abusive, while I understand it could have been seen like that the fact I asked to keep it private and the fact I asked tangent privately meant it was just out of curiosity and the fact I was actually Concerned for his well being. I was then put on a last warning due to my 3 previous warnings for 'abusive behaviour' and was allowed to return on the premise that I didn't start anymore drama. Whether you choose to believe this next part or not is up to you. I made NO contact with raiden, tangent or any of his friends on the forums during the time I was unbanned to the time I was perma banned, not one single contact. I spoke to tangent via steam and a chat website to try to come to terms since raiden was still going way over the top about it even though I was doing nothing, me and tangent fell out after we couldn't seem to come to an agreement and I left it after that. During the next week or so tonnes of false accusations were made including frozen pegasus constantly naming me in status updates for no reason, I added him to skype and told him to stop being so immature.

The fact is I never message raiden ONCE in the whole 2 - 3 months since I blocked him. I spoke to tangent in one PM. Spoke to tangent via steam and another chat once, and had a go at frozen in Skype. There was no hard evidence to ban me on, they mods were unable to provide any when asked and from my knowledge alot of mods / admins did not agree with it, including Aquilia who stepped down straight afterwards.

That being said, I was pretty upset at first, I felt like everything had been taken away from me. However I realised what made the forums important was friendship, and all the people I was friends with are still on my Skype and we still get on today and have plenty off fun without MLPF, in fact I would say this experience has made me overall happier. Sure it sucks that I can't go on the forums and play around like I used to but it's not the end of the world

As for Raiden, you can feel free all you want to be manipulated by this over dramatic creep all you want, it's no skin off my teeth and my opinion of him stands, I am far from the only one who thinks the same about him and his friends.

Thats all I will say on the matter, Believe what you want, I really couldn't care less because I know the truth

Yeah one of the reasons I joined this forum is because ^ that user got screwed by the mods

Some of you might know me,

I keep to the shadows, standing by with my herd Skylar, Polaris, Doc Volt, Wayzer etc, while keeping my image professional and also helping them to do the same. Skylar messed up a few times, but on the last few accussations following up to his perm ban, was unjust and a scheme against him by two folks who strongly felt they had to get rid of him to be happy based off they felt threaten of his presence for no good reason. Skylar had taken the actions to keep away from Raiden and Tangent as I've so witnessed, and as a result hearing what they were doing on the side, spreading false rumors about my friends and THEIR friends spreading more rumors about my friends, i had to take action just to protect myself and I was never even directly involved with it, except for ONE occassion.

Commander Tangent actually came to me, asking for advice about his "girlfriend" Raiden, that he was having major issues with him and other problems I will not go into details about. When I asked him why he did what he did to skylar, he said and I quote: "I know I know, I screwed up, I feel really badly about it." That said, the fact I know Tangent doesn't keep his promisies about keeping PMs PRIVATE, I had to go down the lines of telling him "IF i get any harassment by your other friends or your "girlfiend" we will no longer be friends, I don't want the drama." He agreed and he told me his problems and asked for my honest opinion about what I thought about his "girlfriend" and I told him. I strongly felt he needed to reconsider his current circumstances and at the end of the day, do what is best for himself.

Well that ended in tragedy, because he and Raiden proceeded to spread rumors amongst their friends...Skylar was banned soon after. Tangent and Raiden and anypony associated with them, hurt my friends too much, so i quietly removed and blocked him on my list of friends for good. I don't wish for drama, nor do I wish to make a scene here, I'm simply stating my side. I've never been banned on the forums, I've never recieved warning points, i've always kept my head down and never insulted any pony directly. What happened could have been easily avoided on both sides if we all just kept our ugly opinions to ourselves. Skylar attempted to do that, I can't say the same for others. It's very sad, but its a learning experience all the same, something I hope we all learn from.

What the Mods do is their business, we either respect that or leave, its just that simple at the end of the day, whether its unjust or not is our opinion.

Huehueh, if everybody on mlpforums who said they commit suicide actually did it then 6 users would do so a day.

In my experience, the only people MLPF staff members concern themselves with banning are those who have repeatedly proven themselves to be complete A-holes with a borderline psychopathic disdain for authority. Like it or not, you are entitled to precisely jack as a user of an online message board; you must abide by the rules set forth by webmaster (whether or not you personally deem them "fair"), or go elsewhere. "You can't tell ME what to do!" is the prevailing mentality of those who eventually find themselves on the wrong end of warnings, it seems, but you know what? Yes - they actually can tell you what to do. They run and pay for the site, not you. That's the nature of the beast, friends, and if you guys want to fund and build your own website from scratch - where you can establish your own rules to your heart's desire - go right ahead. But don't expect the owners of existing sites to bend over backwards for you. You play by their rules or you don't play at all, simple as that. One does not simply waltz onto a basketball court, grab the ball and start traveling towards the hoop without dribbling because, "Nah, that's a stupid rule, doesn't apply to me."

I'm not saying I agree with the politics of MLPF, and to be honest, I think their penal system is very poorly implemented and based on a vague set of rules that require highly arbitrary interpretations on the part of individual staff members, instead of a more concretely defined set of rules and guidelines that all members can immediately understand. And yes, there are definitely a handful of members on staff who have no business being there in the first place - to echo DusK's sentiment, I can say I don't exactly have a high approval of how [admin he mentioned on his blog] handles...well, anything. But that certainly doesn't make the entirety of the staff "corrupt". Inept, sure, but corrupt? Can't say the thought of a bunch of college kids twiddling their thumbs and laughing evilly at how they can screw over the next innocent member brings the word 'credible' to mind.

I can say that a good majority of the people I've seen get axed are people who, in my opinion, made the environment of MLPF hostile with their rebellious BS. Many of them I'm quite frankly glad to see gone. Now, I don't know anything about you, Skylar, aside from some rather nasty rumors I've heard, but having your friends b**** about your banning on an external site really isn't the way to go about showing how you're acting like an adult in the face of recent circumstances. The long-standing members of this site, many of whom I respect, don't need you airing your dirty laundry here. I'd advise you and your friends to keep your defamation parties limited to Skype or PM, because it's not something the rest of us really need to hear.

The moderators were only doing their job and going by what they hear. Besides, why the frick is everyone getting so angry because one person got banned? Who knows, maybe they did do something, maybe they didn't...but no need to bring that stuff on here. You are safe, brougham... :3
I'll admit though, they were really really strict on MLP Forums, not to mention I moved because I got so tired of watching people get depressed. I even tried making a difference for that site as well, but nothing seemed to rise their spirits anymore...they always had something bitter to say.
I got to the point where I got so emotionally sick of the forums, I had to leave. I can say from experience, is that MLP Forums isn't as awesome as it used to be. Most people on there are eltitists.

Exactly, people from MLP Forums shouldn't be dragging their ridiculous drama here. They should be quiet and move on, because they are not accomplishing anything, and THERE IS NO WAY IN FRICK, they will ruin my first few days here because of this crap. I had enough with "MLP FORUMS THIS, MLP FORUMS THAT." You guys came here for a reason right? So stop bringing stuff up on a site that doesn't care, and move on with your new leaf! God...

Am i then only person that thinks this should be taken down for bringing off site drama here? Seriously leave it there dont continue it here

Ok. This has gone on long enough. There will be no more badmouthing other forums. We do not want to be a platform for this sort of conversation. Everyone can consider this a warning about this sort of behavior. We do not know the full story and it ends here. Please do not bring this up again or we will have to consider further actions.
