Unease and Disillusionment

Lately I've been feeling afraid to express myself wholeheartedly here like usual in the wake of the recent events but I'll try regardless... And I'll try not to repeat myself from the previous blog. Perhaps you can consider this to be an addendum to the previous blog.
The previous blog was the result of me thinking about what a forums really is. It makes me recall a certain video from thunderf00t about Ana Kasparian from the youtube series The Young Turks. Dealing with criticism was the main focus of that one. This one's more about how it has been affecting me.
"Everypony.com where everypony is somepony". I still remember that quote from when I first showed up. It used to be the site's motto. I had been under the impression that anyone could nestle in here and sorta call this place home or at least that's what the goal was. Well, no, it turns out that if you have a certain set of traits, you're pretty much doomed from the start. Traits that have been shaped by one's upbringing. Some people have had it rough or even terrible. Some are lucky enough to be able to express it in a way that isn't disruptive or discomforting as well as knowing how to respond to or handle criticism. Some however, aren't so lucky. Going from the idea that anyone has a chance to belong if they wanted it to the idea that you're screwed if you haven't developed the right skills was disheartening.
It has to do with the guiding set of principles. Try to view them as a kind of framework that affects how a system works, much like how computers have an operating systems. Some operating systems are better than others for various reasons. Just give that some thought.
Truth be told, I've been questioning my place here as of late. But only time will tell what my decision will ultimately be.
