Hey there everypony. It's this time again, and this time, I got more than just news for you guys, so I hope you've got your reading glasses! First of all, you asked and we listened. The Serious Discussion section will be implemented for a trial period by the end of this week. I can speak for all of us when I say I hope that we can all be well behaved, mature ponies when this area is opened up and I look forward to looking at and participating in some serious talk! Now, for something I think I need to talk about. First of all, let me quote a former administrator and my past self. Told you there'd be a lot of text. But I'm not finished yet. Quite a few times I see people post about how the moderation staff should 'be more brony', 'think of what the show teaches', 'what happened to love and tolerate?' and similar. To put this in its extremes, this would be the rules list if we were to do so: Trolling: Tolerate. Spamming: Tolerate. Rude Behaviour: Tolerate. You get the picture. You can't realistically moderate a forum using a system like that. There has to be lines drawn and they have to be enforced. You'd be surprised how much we actually let go in the staff room, but we can't always be like that or there will always be runaway trolls who do everything they can to push those boundaries. We can't and we won't allow that. Things have changed in my time here. Things will continue to change. But one thing that will never change is that we will do our best to give you guys a happy, safe, friendly place to hang out, chat, listen to some tunes and have some fun. Foxy out.
It's that time of the week. This will be a short one as I'm currently on holiday! This week, we've had some changes of staff. As some of you may have noticed, Merriweather has stepped down from his role, and joining him will be Scyithe and Tenortrouble. I just want to say it's been an honour and privilege to work with all of you and wish you the best for future endeavours. Don't be strangers and know that should the need arise, you're all welcome to re-apply for the roles. Another staff change is that of Yamiookami. While I'm on holiday, he's taken on the role of Community Patrol, so if you need any help, want any questions answered or just need someone to talk to, he, as well as the rest of the community team, are here to help. There's still time to enter for Karaoke night! Details can be found here, so get your entries done and submitted ASAP! Are you a budding artist and want to learn to draw? Want a chance to have your art featured for all to see? Check out the Everypony Artist Training Grounds where we do our best to help you guys get a start in the awesome world of art! That's all from me! Sayonara everypony, 'til next time! ~Foxytail
It's been a long time coming (Sorry about that T-T) but it's finally here! First of all, let's talk BUCK! The event was AWESOME! From start to finish, I had a blast, and most of that was because of the people that went! So I don't forget anything, let's think of everything as it happened. First of all, met Grey at the train station as I arrived and headed to the venue. We saw a huge line of people and almost felt bad when we walked straight past them into the (smaller) performers and guests line. Once inside we started prepping for our first slot at the table while talking to people. Tyro met some awesome tabletop RPG guys which he had fun playing with. When our time came, we set up at the table and started blasting the music! From the reception we got, I'd say people were pretty happy with it! After our tabletime, we hung out with some awesome people like the Ask Cheeseyburger artist and Firenze! Tyro and I spent a little time on a dance machine (where my hubris bested me) before heading out to lunch at Subway. Once we got back, we tried a little of everything, bought some stuff and had fun until our second set at the table. Then it was the PINKIE PIE PARTY! The music was banging and the people were hyped up for this party which was awesome! After an opening by Sketchy Sounds, RainbowCrash88 played his live set which had some awesome songs from Fighting is Magic! Unfortunately I couldn't stay for Laserpon3's show, but I was told it was awesome (which makes me wish I saw it even more >.>). Heading back to the hotel, we played some Smash Bros on the wii that I brought before having a little Mario Kart tournament (videos incoming) which Cheesey won, while fun was had by all! The second day was much more chill. I was on the broadcasters panel first thing, then EPR had a set upstairs where we took requests and talked to people. We played "Call Upon the Seaponies" at the PERFECT time which definitely got us some notice. Grey arrived around lunch time so we went out to eat before hanging out with Firenze. We saw the charity auction where things were sold at ridiculous prices; a derpy plushie got sold for £300 and a Britannia plushie and accessories sold for £1000! After a final set at the table, we headed to the artist workshop for a while before heading back to the hotel for more wii games. All in all, the event itself was awesome, but what really made the time there worth it was the bronies, my friends who I shared the experience with! So to Grey Knightmare, Merriweather, PoeticPony, Tyro the Fox, Firenze, Cheesey Burger, Pipsqueak, Urban, and everyone I wish I could remember right now! YOU GUYS ROCK. Official videos from the organizers can be found by clicking here! I know Tyro has some videos of his own set up! Also, tonight (Saturday) we have an interview with the musician Icky (formerly KeepOnRockin) so if you like his hardstyle kicks, be sure to join us! If you want a question answered, be sure to post here! Shoutout time! Darkshine would like to give a shoutout to Calvin and Joshua for being kind around the forums, and Waterflame for coping with an issue in the chat. Great job guys! Thank you guys for being patient, I'll see you next week!
This CP is going to be special, with input from Grey, Tyro, Merri and Poetic as well as myself, so it may take a day to come up, BUT IT'S COMING! BUCK was fantastic. Absolutely AMAZING.
Community post on Monday!
Now this is something I'd usually save for the community post, but honestly, I don't think it can wait that long. I've noticed a number of threads, blogs and various other methods of people saying that there is too many things wrong with the site, the staff and how both are run. Everytime I read these, I sit back and think, questioning if I could have avoided these things or seen them had I been more active, more focused, if I had spent less time doing something else and put more effort into the site. Every single time I read these and see a point that's either been brought up before or I thought we had fixed or had no problem with, it hurts me. It hurts me because it is hurting the site, and I want the site to be the best it can be. People come to me with opinions and I do my best to try and make sure everyone is heard, but I can't always do that. I know I can't do everything, that I'll miss things, I'll make mistakes, but it just feels that every time I make a mistake, I'm hurting the site, I'm offending a user or ignoring what they have to say and it just makes me work harder to try and improve both myself and the site. I guess the point I'm trying to get at is running this place is stressful. It may be a site based on a pastel coloured pony kids show, but running this site is serious business, trying to keep everyone happy, and I'd like to ask that every now and then... just give us a break. We're only human and we dedicate an obscene amount of time to do this for you guys with little to no reward except the satisfaction it gives us to make you guys smile. We're going to get things wrong, so sometimes, just bear with us. We're doing out best. ~Foxytail
It's that time of the week again! First of all, I'd like to say you have only ONE MORE WEEK to get your entries for karaoke submitted! My inbox is looking pretty empty, so don't be shy, fill it up! Second of all, EPR is going to BUCK next weekend! During the 18th and 19th, we'll be at the BUCK Brony Convention in Manchester UK! If you're going to it, be sure to look for the EPR table, and look out for the Broadcasters Panel where I myself shall be on there! Lightning Mustang would like to give a shoutout to Bounty as a thank you for vectoring his OC! Awesome work Bounty! For those who haven't seen, there's a couple of new competitions! The first is one where you can design an OC for the forums and blog sections of the site! If you're interested in this, check out this thread for details! The other competition is one of Harley's creation! You can find the thread for it if you click here, and I what I can say is that if you go to the EPN chat then there's a chance for you to win some awesome prizes, so keep an eye out in the competitions subforum! Don't forget this weeks artist training grounds! The topic this week is a pony cheering someone up, so here's a link to the thread, go check it out! That's all from me, have a great week! ~Foxytail
It's this time of the week again... and it's a big one. Get ready for things to get emotional. Grey Knightmare, one of the founders of the site and long time technical administrator has decided to step down from the everypony staff. His reasons are his own, so all I can do is say goodbye. So... goodbye... but that's just not enough. Not for you. Not for such a long standing staff member. Oh no, this is going to be all out. So before I bore you all with my speech, some words from the other staff members. I'm sure the other staff will make their comments in the appropriate places. Now, for me... When I first came here, I met you on the radio. Finding out you ran this place, I was amazed you'd even talk to us guys all casually, making sure things were ok. I've not had much experience with chats and forums, but I rarely ever got the chance to talk to an administrator on a website. When you accepted my application to be DJ, I was overjoyed, I wanted to work and make this place awesome. As time went on, as events happened, I could see what kind of leader you were, and I knew that the site would always be on the right path with you in charge. When you made me an admin, I couldn't believe it. I always thought myself unworthy of the role, yet strived to be all I could be. Time went on, events happened and suddenly I was thrust in charge of the site. I admit that I got overwhelmed. I made mistakes which cost us dearly, both on and off the site. You returned to the staff to make sure the technical aspects were kept in place, but I still turned to you for advice. You always told me what I needed to hear, made sure I thought about everything and didn't jump the gun, nor leave things too late. Thank you. Thank you for everything. For the advice, the friendship, the inspiration and the memories. Thank you for leading this site, and I promise on behalf of the entire staff that we will care for it with all the hope and effort that you put into it, and then some, just for you. Don't worry though, everypony, he's assured us his stepping down is from the staff only. Still expect him to frequent the site and its various areas! With the loss of Grey, there is a third admin spot that has been left clear. Talking with Grey and Berry, we have decided the best choice is ZEPHYR. So please, congratulate Zephyr on his new role in the big boy horse shoes. Berry, Zephyr and I are working hard to ensure that the site and the staff becomes the best it can be, so if you have any troubles or suggestions, don't hesitate to send them to one of us. I'd also like us to congratulate Mike406! He has won the Cheerilee's Gold Star award for the Staff for the month of July! His work for the site in both the technical aspects and his attention to the sites discussions has truly shown he's earned it! Finally, a quick shoutout for Zephyr and Bounty from Lightning Mustang (SoulEmber) for helping out with his first DJ shift! Regular community posting continues next week. Until then everypony.
Hey Everypony! It's the time of the week again! Got new staff and info, so listen up, this stuffs important! First of all, we have a bunch of staff changes! In the radio department, we welcome Swift_ as a chat moderator, and Lightning Mustang and Harleycyn becoming DJs! On the forums, we'd like to welcome Rarit E and Yamiookami as forum moderators and Rashall as a new RP Forum Moderator! Next up, Ramza has made another combo tribute video! CLICK HERE to see the hour long masterpiece of awesomeness! The Artist Training Grounds has finished its first week! I'd like to thank everyone who entered, and would like to specifically congratulate the winners of this weeks theme of 'Two Ponies Fishing'! The staff have been VERY busy this week! We've noticed that some of you have raised concerns regarding the rules page, saying it's confusing and at times unclear, so we've been having talks about refining and possibly adding to the rules. When we're done, we'll post what we have to make sure you're aware of the changes, so keep an eye out! Finally, thank you all for your comments in the last post. It really makes me happy to know that our work is being appreciated, and that people enjoy these posts every week. I've been thinking about how I'd like to spend more time with you guys... so I've had an idea! From now on, every Thursday between 11pm - 1am (GMT), I will be in the Everypony Network General Discussion Room! I'll be there to talk about the site, the community or anything that comes up, be it games, movies or serious topics! If you fancy talking to me directly, that'll be your chance! I'll make a notice when I head in there to remind you guys. That's all from me this week. Sayonara everypony! ~Foxytail
Yes folks, it's Foxy's Community Post time! A great deal has happened this week so enough lollygagging, let's do this! First of all, I'd like to announce that Everypony now has a third administrator. Would everyone please congratulate Berry Punch in their new role of Administrative Director! A very important role, we believe Berry is perfect for this and look forward to working with him in their new position. EDIT: IT only just occurred to me that you guys wouldn't know what we mean by Administrative Director! To put it simply, when the staff decides to do something, such as a site project, fixing bugs or dealing with issues, Berry will be in charge of assigning who does what and making sure it gets done. Second of all, the site is going to go through some changes. The staff room has been quite the busy place this week as many ideas get thrown around and considered. The rules are being refined, the spring theme layout is getting an update, and there's big big talk about changes, both minor and major that will affect us all. However, we still have a duty to you guys, and there is nothing that we'll force on you. You will be informed of everything that may happen so don't be afraid of us changing too much too soon! We know that we wouldn't have any of this without you. I'll be honest... there are some that won't like the ideas posed. The staff have expressed mixed feelings about some of the ideas, so we will need your help in making sure that the good ideas are kept while the not so good ones are left behind. Let's keep Everypony the place for EVERYPONY! If you have any ideas for the site please post below, or better yet, post a topic in the site discussion forums! We love hearing your ideas and would like to hear every single one. Thirdly, for all you artists out there, the Everypony Artist Training Grounds has officially started! If you draw ponies, or would like to learn to, then this is the place to check out! You can find all of the info by clicking right here, so come have a look and see if we can get those pencils and pens moving! Lastly, I'd like us all to think about the community post itself. My intention in starting it was to allow you guys to know what's going on around the staff room, what changes have or will happen around the site as well as give you the chance to put your input into things, give you the chance to influence decisions and give us your ideas. Over the weeks, I've been feeling like I've not been doing enough... like I'm just a little news post with little to no input from you guys except from the comments. If you'll allow, I want this to change. I want this to be a COMMUNITY post. So I offer my hooves out to you guys. What do you want to see? What do you want this to BE? Are you happy as it is or do have an idea for its improvement? PLEASE PLEASE give me your input so I can truly make this a community post and not just some weekly news post. That's all for now everypony. Please, comment below, we would LOVE to hear your opinions.
Hey there everypony, I'm back! I hope Poetic didn't send you fleeing too far, it's another Foxy's Community Post! First on the agenda, there have been suggestions about having a debate subsection of the forums. I will admit, the staff are hesitant to go through with this, so we're looking into how much demand for it there is for it. Also, due to the rather volatile nature of debate, IF this does go through we will be looking into methods of strict control and moderation. Please, give us your thoughts in the comments below. Everypony Radio is moving to SHOUTCast! Yes that's right everypony, EPR is moving. But what does this mean to the old radio? First of all, the livestream will now be updated far less frequently due to our current DJs now working on the new radio. There will also be a large drop in DJ sessions for the same reasons. The Floxy shows and Karaoke Nights will still be done on the Livestream channel, as well as live events. We'll also be introducing new features such as live gaming, music making/mixing and potentially a number of other features that can only be done with a screen to watch! So, why move to the new Radio? Well this gives us a LOT of opportunities to allow you to listen! No longer are you required to stay on the browser to listen, you can use a media player of your choice to listen to the radio live! There is also mobile support so you can listen on the go, as well as the ability to play the radio through various other mediums and games that allow streaming a shoutcast channel! Where can you find the new radio? CLICK HERE! Some of you may have noticed that it's Brony Day this Sunday (15th July)! To celebrate this event, we're going to be streaming all the episodes! THAT'S RIGHT! EVERY EPISODE FROM SEASON 1 AND 2! Come join us around 5PM GMT (Midday EST) to rewatch the magic of friendship from beginning to end only at EPR! That's all from me this week everypony! Have a good one, I'm looking forward to hear from you guys! ~Foxytail
That's right folks. This is big forum, with many people joining every day, so I thought a great way to get to know some of the new users is to feature them on the community blog. So, if you're new here and have been quite the active pony, then you may see your name here! And for everypony else, be sure to welcome these new members the Everypony way, by giving them the punch by welcoming them on their profiles and treating them the awesome way you all do. So without further ado, here we go! EquestrianScholar, who joined on the 11th of July and has already made quite the impact around the site if I may say, with thought provoking posts in the character/show discussion areas as well as joining in the RP forums! I'd personally recommend seeing his thread asking if Celestia is a troll, or his thread wondering how we'd feel if the season 2 finale was fanfiction. I look forward to seeing more from them! Halfhand, who joined on the 3rd of July has also made their presence known in various areas of the site such as general discussion, community discussion and even the art forums! Be sure to check out their art in this thread here and otherwise welcome them to the community! over9000%cooler, who joined on the 9th of July has also been quite active around the forums, having fun in the forum games and chatting in the general chat thread or general discussion. They've also made an OC thread in the RP forums so keep an eye out for them! TheMerMare, who joined on the 5th of July is the last on my list of featured users. A very interesting OC, they've been very active in the RP forums in their Shallow Waters RP. I'm sure they'll be in more RPs so I'd be sure to keep your eyes open for this unique pony and the opportunity to RP with them! That's all the users I'm featuring today. I'll be doing this every now and again so be sure to subscribe to the community blog to find out about the latest in community happenings! The prettiest pink pony, the foxiest of tails, ~Foxytail
Yes, it is I, Poetic taking up the task this Friday, so don't blame Foxy if I muck this up :derpe: First on the agenda is the possible addition of a new chat channel to the real time chat (found of course at the top of the page). The idea of this channel is to give the users an opportunity to talk to the staff about the site in a proper conversation, therefore giving you a chance to speak and share your ideas about the site or complaints in general through a chat as opposed to a messaging system. We as staff promise to listen to you, and hope that this gives you the chance to say what's on your mind. As of this moment it is a concept for the future, but what we need to know is if you want it, or you think we need it, so leave a comment about it! Next, congratulations to Lightning Mustang, Tyro the Fox, and Mike406, who have all stepped up to be mods on the chat channels! I'm sure they'll do well, and hopefully will be able to keep the real time chat monitored and safe for work at all times, and generally make things a bit more controlled. Another thing that has been discussed amongst the staff is the revision of the rules for the forum and radio. We could do with some feedback on the rules currently; telling us some of the strengths and weaknesses currently as well as providing some ideas for improvement would be very much appreciated. So in the next couple of weeks, expect a few changes to the rules like some being added and some being removed to make things run a bit smoother and make everypony.com an even nicer place to be! Something that we are aware of is that, as the staff, we all make mistakes, and we can work on and solve them if you tell us what is the matter. Users have always been free to have open discussion about the staff, as staff are a major part of any site's operation, so don't be discouraged to tell somepony about what we can do to improve! As such, all complaints about the staff or about the site in general can be submitted to the "Community Discussion" sub-forum in "Site Discussion", which will be aptly renamed to the "Complaint Box". Just a reminder to all you ponies, we as the Community Patrol are here to listen and help you on the site, and will always be there for you, Foxytail being the head leader of the patrol of course. Yetione has asked Foxy (who in turn has asked me) to post about his trip to London! He's hoping to organize a meetup in the City of London, UK, so if you'd like to meet him and Foxy in person, just check out this thread. They hope to see you there! Now for shoutouts! This week a shoutout to Mike406 from Rarit E! Keep up the awesome work! Aaaaand finally! seeing as we hit 3000 members not so long ago, most of the staff have recorded themselves with a little thank you for all you ponies, put all together into one video by Ramza. (I think another video's going to be released with the ones missed out due to time restraints) Enjoy! Tune in next Friday for more news about the site!
Good morning everypony! Due to a special site event, I've decided to do this weeks community post in a special way... recording yours truly on webcam to give you the news! Why is this you ask? Because Everypony has reached 3000 members! That's right, over 3000 people have joined this humble site and I'd like to extend a completely personal and sincere thank you. Thank you all, for everything. We wouldn't be here without you. I wouldn't be here without you. Before I go into the news, I'd like to say a few names that I'd like to thank for being on this site. First of all, Pixel. I know recently you've been through tough times, but you've always been active and friendly around the site. You've given your advice when we've asked and with over 12000 posts you are the sites most active member, be it giving advice, joining a debate or just having fun. Thank you, Pixel. Thank you. Secondly I'd like to thank all the staff, both current and former. With the exception of one (I'm sorry to say), I feel that it was an honour and privilege to work with all of you. Each one of you have made an impact in my life and as you continue to do so I just want you to know that for many of you, you're not colleagues. You're family. Thank you so much. So this doesn't get too long winded, some other names I'd like to thank specifically: Virgil Pony, Lightning Mustang, Asuya, Ryu Himora, Spiral, Gilson/BrianBlessedPony, Saikyo, Zephyr and Harley. You guys. All of you guys are just so awesome in what you do for me and what you do for the site that I can't continue without making sure I've said your names. Anyway, now the sentimental stuff is out of the way, let's get on with the news! I am sad to say that Viperbait has retired from his position on the site. Some of you may have seen his farewell thread already. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours and hope what he finds next makes him happy. However, with this loss comes new staff! First of all I'd like to congratulate Zephyr Haste in being promoted to Forum Moderator as well as Radio DJ! Also, I'd like to congratulate Tenor Trouble in his new role as Fanfiction Moderator, Mike406 as Technical Support and Lightning Mustang as our new brand new Blogs moderator! I'm sure I speak for the entire staff that we look forward to working with you guys and hope you fit in really well in your roles. As mentioned above, everypony has a new area! Blogs! Yes, personal blog pages that everyone can view and use. How does one use them? What can we do with them? Just use this guide made by Grey Knightmare which explains everything! In other news, the staff survey is now closed! We are no longer accepting entries and I shall be spending this next week collecting, analyzing, reticulating and other fancy words the results to see what you guys think of us so we can improve ourselves for your and the site. Finally, if you haven't noticed, the next Karaoke Night has been announced! The theme is Video Games! Controller, keyboard, joystick, no matter how you play them, you can't deny they have awesome music! So open your heart everypony, this isn't just his world to sing in. Never turn back and show us what you're made of! (I'm sure I just made some sonic fans squee >.>) As usual the thread can be found here or in the Everypony Labels area of the forums under 'Radio Announcements'. That's all from me Everypony. I hope you enjoyed this special 3000 member community post video!
That's right everypony! From now on I'll be using this blog to feature things from the community that I think are worth posting, as well as giving the other community patrol the ability to do the same! Hopefully I'll be featuring members and their works of art, writing or simply a short interview of people to see what got them involved in the community. I'll also be posting the community posts here, so keep an eye out every week for it! I've something very special lined up for tomorrow's post so I hope you won't be disappointed. Sincerely, the prettiest of pink ponies, the foxiest of tails, ~Foxytail
