It's been a busy day of editing, but I got 3 episodes done today. As I use Sony Vegas more and more, I find myself getting more comfortable with the controls and am becoming better at editing music, pics, and text into the video for your enjoyment. I hope you enjoy yourselves! Consider this your cursing warning.
I bet you're wondering why I'm churning these out so quickly. The fact is, the friend I'm doing these with is only in town for 6 more days, so we're marathoning like crazy! Some cursing exists within these videos.
I've since uploaded a few more episodes, so here you go! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did recording it (and more than I did editing it. I'll get the hang of it... >_>; ). Some language is present.
It's called Ookami Den. Multiple entendre! My name, obviously, and "ookami" is Japanese for "wolf", so "wolf den." A den is also a place to lounge around, and Okamiden is the DS sequel to the PS2/Wii hit "Okami." :derpe: I thought it was clever... Anyway! We're playing Bioshock Infinite! Please like and subscribe and watch. Warning! Contains some language.
Did anyone see this on Saturday's episode? Slendermane is canon now!
I saw this gif and had to make the video. I was a bit disheartened when I finished the video to see someone already uploaded a video with the same idea in mind, but the hell with it. I uploaded it anyway!
This fandom, man.
A friend of mine from Canterlanta animated a pony Christmas video! It's really well done, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Rarit told me this gif and this song would go well together, but didn't know how to make a video of it. So I did it and uploaded it, and here it is!
Our Atlanta-based brony group, Canterlanta, had a Nightmare Night meetup party last night at the Georgia Tech Student Center. All-in-all, I'd say about 20-30 people showed up. We watched the Nightmare Night episode, that "Come Little Children" Luna PMV, and the Flufflepuff Nightmare Night video. Some people brought plushes and blind bags to hang out. Myself, I brought a Luna plush, my Tara Strong-signed Twilight plush, and my Build-A-Bear Spike with a mustache (#25!). I received a bunch of compliments for the Luna and Twi plush, so that was pretty nice. The rest of the time was mostly spent eating and mingling. For me, though, it was eating and playing Pokemon X, something several people were doing. I made a lot of Pokemon friends there. :3 One of our members, David, spent a week making an amazing, delicious, and morbidly depressing cake for the occasion, of which he posted several photos on Facebook, and I will share. The cake was set at the castle ruins in the Everfree Forest, where the old Elements of Harmony orbs are held. Princess Twilight was lying on the ground, looking at a stained glass window of her and her friends vanquishing Nightmare Moon. She's sad and crestfallen because her friends are dead because she outlived them (disregard that McCarthy said this wouldn't happen). I pointed out to David jovially as we cut the cake that her friends are dead and now her world is falling to pieces (cutting the cake in slices). He laughed and hugged me, fake crying on my shoulder, saying the cake just keeps getting more morbid the more he thinks about it. xD When it comes to contributions, I made a bowl of a spicy ranch, parmesan cheese party mix made up of Cheez-Its, Flamin' Hot Cheet-Ohs puffs, Flamin' Hot Chester's Puffcorn, and other party mix staples like pretzels. All-in-all, it was a good time. ^_^ Pics ahoy! I didn't take these pics. I borrowed them from a couple people on Canterlanta. Spoiler: Group Photo. I'm at the bottom right, and David is the guy in the Fluttershy everything in the center. Spoiler: The magnificent cake. The stained glass window even lights up!
Thank you government shutdown for resulting in the USPS hiring more people and opening on Sunday. I now have Disgaea D2 a day early. I ordered the Limited Edition from Nippon-Ichi Software America's website, and it turns out that I got 2-day shipping with it for free. That's a really nice service, so my thanks go out to NISA. Now, with this LE comes an art book, soundtrack, 2 figurines, a Flonne sticker, and 5 art cards (as well, of course, as the game itself). It's all quite nice, and the game even came with an instruction booklet, which is becoming rarer these days. Nothing like opening up a brand new game and breathing deep that new game smells, flipping through the instruction booklet to fan it into your nose. ...What? I like the new game smell, alright? I took a bunch of pics of the various things. Why? Because Flonne and prinnies. As an aside, what does one do with art cards, anyway? Spoiler: LE Box Spoiler: Flonne sticker Spoiler: Art book and game Spoiler: Figure box and soundtrack Spoiler: Art cards Spoiler: Back of figure box Spoiler: Figures Spoiler: Where I put the figures and LE box
So yesterday I went out and got frames for the art I bought and hung them up, and took pictures today. Because, you know, everyone's super fascinated with how I decorate my room. :derpe: Spoiler: Pics
This is going to be a short entry for a few reasons. Firstly, today is the last day of the con, and it ends at 5 PM. Secondly, the only event I was interested in today ended at 3:30 PM, so I came home early. C, no...Three: I didn't buy anything or take any pictures of cosplayers because nothing jumped out to me for the short time I was there. The event I went to see was a screening of From Up on Poppy Hill, a recent Studio Ghibli film directed by Gorou Miyazaki, Hayao Miyazaki's son. I got there early, however, and sat in on an episode of an anime called "Another". From what I can gather, it's a horror anime revolving around the protagonist meeting a girl with an eyepatch over her left eye. It turns out, though, that that girl supposedly died in a hospital recently. The episode I saw didn't reveal the answer to the mystery, though. As for From Up on Poppy Hill, it was pretty good. It had humor, pleasant atmosphere, and heartwarming feels. This slice-of-life movie stars a high school girl named Umi whose mother is studying in America and whose father was a ship captain who died when his ship sank in the Korean War (the movie takes place in 1964). Ever since here father died, she's raised flags every day, signaling for him to come home. Since her mother is away, Umi has taken over all the normal housework at her grandmother's home. She cooks and cleans for her family and the various boarders who live there. At school, it is revealed that the club building is under consideration for demolition in order to build a new club building. Rightfully so, too, looking at the run-down state of the building. However, the students who spend their time there all love the place and are against the demolition. Umi makes the suggestion one day that if they clean up the shabby old building, maybe the board would reconsider its demolition. Along the way, Umi finds herself slowly falling in love with a fellow student, but can it work...? The audience at this screening had a good sense of humor, but telling you what they said would reveal a big spoiler in the movie. If you've seen it/don't care, I'll post it in spoiler tags. Spoiler: From Up on Poppy Hill spoilers When it was revealed that Umi was actually the sister of the boy she fell for (his name is Shun), someone in the audience said "don't let that stop you!" The whole audience, myself included, cracked up at this. Later on, after struggling with this revelation, Umi decided that even though they couldn't go any further since they were siblings, she still wanted him to know how she felt. So, so told him she loved him, and he told her he loved her too. At this point, I said softly "now kiss!" to the laughter of people around me. It's later revealed that they aren't siblings after all. When this was revealed, I said softly again "free game!" to some more chuckles. All in all, it was all the more amusing for the people in the crowd. And that about does it for my coverage of this convention. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did writing.
As far as events go, today wasn't quite as eventful as yesterday. I did see a few bronies I know and attended (and by "attended", I mean "walked around in the general area of") a photo shoot for MLP cosplayers. A lot of good ones that I unfortunately didn't get pictures of because the crowd was too big. Sorry guys. I did attend a couple of events, both of which were anime screenings, and I think I might get into both anime I watched. They were screenings of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic and Sword Art Online. Magi was new to me, but I've heard of SAO a lot, but never really got around to watching it. I think I will now. First was Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. It's an anime that combines several famous tales and characters. The main character is Aladdin (yes, that Aladdin), a boy who has befriended a djinn and uses him in battle. The first friend he makes is Alibaba. Other characters well-known from stories include Jafar and Sinbad. I only saw the first episode, but the anime is about these impossibly tall towers called "dungeons" that suddenly show up at different points in time. Inside these dungeons are as of yet to me untold perils and riches enough to buy a country. Alibaba wants to conquer one to make enough money to have it easy the rest of his life, and Aladdin wants to find djinn vessels to befriend the djinni inside. It's very amusing and free-spirited in nature, but does address some heavy things like slavery. Next was Sword Art Online. The first thing that came to mind for me was .hack//, being an anime that takes place in an online game. After the first couple of episodes, though, it feels more like .hack// meets Battle Royale. Basically, a new online games recently came out that uses the first-ever full neural link, connecting all of your senses to the game. In real life, this essentially leaves you inert until you log out of the game. That's when the problem comes in: you can't log out of the game. The creator of the game tells those logged into it that they can't log out until they clear the game. Any attempt by outside forces in the real world to remove the nerve link will result in a blast of microwaves that kills the brain of the wearer. In addition, if a character's HP reaches 0 in the game, they will also get a microwave blast that kills their real life self. My first thought when the creator said this was, "Why don't the police just arrest this guy?" I assume that's explained later, though. All in all, it was interesting. After that I attended a meetup for the bronies there, but it was an unorganized mess and we kept having to relocate. 40 minutes after the meetup was supposed to start, we were still trying to find a place to settle down, so I just kind of left, bidding farewell to a few people I knew, and headed home. And now, pics! First, cosplayers. I attended the opening day of Anime Weekend Atlanta, an anime/gaming convention. A good turnout like last year, and a lot of neat cosplay going on here! You'll get some pics of those later on. First off, the line at registration was huge. Like what the hell huge. I had pre-registered, but the walk-ins were in a line 5 times shorter than the pre-register line. That was a bit annoying, but whatever, no huge deal. I still was able to make the first target panel on time. Speaking of the first target panel, it was a Q&A panel with Chris Sabat, a well-known anime and video game voice actor. You may know him as Vegeta, Piccolo, and Yamcha from Dragonball Z/GT, Alex Louis Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist, Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho, Roronoa Zoro from One Piece, Kurogane from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, Ritsu Kasanoda from Ouran High School Host Club, and he's also Garterbelt from the English version of Panty and Stocking. He was a really cool guy in the panel, with lots of funny things to say. Someone asked him to do the "OVER 9000" line, but he messed it up so many times I'm pretty sure he was screwing with everyone. xD Then someone asked if he was sing happy birthday for her friend (who was too shy to ask herself), and he made her come up on the stage and sang it in the voice of Kuwabara, and kept mentioning Yukina (if you don't know, Kuwabara's madly in love with Yukina). xD After that was a panel featuring Johnny Yong Bosch and his band, Eyeshine. If you don't know Johnny by name, you may know him form his work in anime and video games (he's in almost everything). Notable examples include Ichigo from Bleach, Lelouch from Code Geass, Itsuki Koizumi from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Yuu Naukami and Touru Adachi from Persona 4, Vash the Stampede from Trigun, Kuhn form .hack//G.U., Nero from Devil May Cry 4, and Almaz von Almandine Adamant from Disgaea 3. He was also Adam Park, the second Black Ranger from the original Might Morphin' Power Rangers. This panel was particularly fun, because instead of just answering questions, he answered them with improvised song every time. He was asked to sing happy birthday for someone who couldn't make it to the con, and instead of the usual happy birthday song, he did his own thing that went something like this: Happy birthday. it's your birthday. You're not here, and I don't like that. I hope you don't get hit by a bus cuz it's your birthday. Don't die on your birthday. You can die after your birthday But dying before would suck really bad. This had the crowd in stitches. It was pretty awesome. At one point, his guitarist had to duck out for a bit, and Johnny claimed it was because he had to take a dump, but he was just speculating. A bit later, someone asked him if he liked the newer Power Ranger series, and he started an intro to a song. 20 seconds later, he sang: I don't watch it. And the music stopped abruptly to the laughter of everyone. He then said he's met the people who play the new rangers and they're cool guys, and eventually got off on a tangent and started a song that went something vaguely like: I was the crotch of the Megazord. I was the crotch of the Megazord. But I'm not bitter, no no. I'm not bitter cuz I'm not a crotch anymore. This cracked everyone up, myself included. Around this point, the guitarist came back and Johnny asked how the poop was, and he started a song about how everyone poops, pees, and farts, and that we're all alike: disgusting. Then he started a song with these lyrics: Diarrhea diarrhea diarrhea Diarrhea diarrhea diarrhea Diarrhea diarrhea diarrhea Everyone was laughing their butts off, naturally. All-in-all, it was a fantastic panel and I much enjoyed it. My apologies go out to Vic Mignogna, whose panel I opted out of due to hunger. I saw him at MomoCon in March, so it wasn't a big deal to me to miss this. I'll see if I can attend anything else he does over the next two days. After leaving the panel room, I decided to browse the Dealer's Room and Artist Alley. Found some neat stuff and bought it. Then got some lunch at a Subway stand. After eating, I browsed the Dealer's Room again to kill time waiting for the next event: a screening of One Piece: Strong World, a new-to-America One Piece movie. Before the movie started, it was introduced by Chris Sabat (who voices Zoro, as I said before), as well as Ian Sinclair, who is the recently-announced voice of Brook. Strong World is the first One Piece thing to feature Brook in America, and I have to say, Ian did a fantastic job, from the polite asking to see womens' panties right down to the YOHOHOHOHO laugh! The movie itself was pretty neat. Just the usual of the Strawhat crew being badasses and fighting to defend the defenseless and protect their own. Now, pics! Cosplayers first.
