This is where I will be posting whenever I have something I feel is worth sharing. That's what a blog is for, after all, right?

  1. So guys, I had an idea at work today. An idea to take my voice in a unique direction apart from doing simple vocal covers as I have been. That's idea is: do a capella versions of iconic video game background music with lyrics about why I love the game or series the song is from. I got the idea while humming Bubbly Clouds' theme from Kirby, then making impromptu lyrics to it while singing the melody.

Here's the song that sparked the idea:

    What do you think?
  2. His license plate made me clearly know who he was and wonder what he's doing out of the UK. ::S:

Also, who's that handsome devil reflected off the car? :omg:

  3. So I came across this gem that totally breathed new life into my faith for this company.

I love Walmart. I also love sarcasm.

  4. It was a fantastic evening filled with ponies and bronies and cake and candy and ponies. All in all around 40 people were there, and it was fun just to mingle, talk about ponies, and laugh with such good people. We watched Nightmare Night, obviously, then watched a bunch of PMVs. One of the people was dressed as Cupcakes Pinkie Pie and we did a video shoot of him chasing a couple of other people with his chainsaw. xD

Near the end, we had a costume contest for everyone in costume. I participated with permission, though what I was wearing hardly constituted anything as lofty as a "costume," but whatever. It was fun. I decided to strut my stuff, and did it well, despite panicking the whole time. Afterwards, I was blushing sooo hard for several minutes, but everyone loved it! xD Didn't win anything, though, not that I expected to. But, fun was had and that's what matters most. I felt I was much more among things than I usually am at social stuff, which is definitely a good thing.

Now, pics! There was one more I wanted to show you guys, but after a week, the guy who took the picture hasn't sent it to me, so I'll post it when I can. In the meantime, enjoy what I do have. :3

  5. I went to a Nightmare Night party tonight and it was a lot of fun! Pics and videos are coming soon. I'm mainly making this as a heads up.

Teaser: you're going to get to see me strut my stuff.

  6. *Blows the dust off his blog*

Good day everyone. I haven't forgotten this thing, but I just haven't had much happen worth mentioning recently, but a few cool things happened today, as well as something not so cool a couple weeks ago that ties into today quite nicely.

A couple weeks ago, my glasses of 4 years got run over by a car. They cost around $400, so this was something of a blow. They never had anything more than a scratch and then bam! lol cars. What happened is they were sitting on my safety vest I wear at work. I grabbed my safety vest when I arrived and the glasses must have gotten caught on them and fallen onto the parking space next to mine. I wasn't wearing them because it was still bright out, so I opted for sunglasses, as always when I'm in the sun. It wasn't until I went on my break two hours later that I realized they weren't where I thought they were. I turned my car upside down looking for them and started retracing my steps in vain. I gave up and walked back to my car when I saw them lying in the next parking space, crushed. D:

My only reaction was to look at them, sigh, and put them in my car and go about my day. No use crying over what can't be changed. A few days later I went to the vision center in my Walmart and got tested and ordered new glasses for only $166, thanks to my 20% Walmart employee discount. Well, I received a phone call this morning saying my glasses were ready. So I decked myself out in poni like I do every time I go out when I'm not working. I donned the RD paint splatter shirt that our very own Pixel Hope, AKA Echoax designed, as well as my button-laden swag hat.

The glasses are perfectly satisfactory and they look good. ^_^ What was better is a couple of people loved my hat. I walked by my store manager and he pulled out his glasses and asked to look at my buttons, saying they're really neat. A few moments later, I walked by a couple of black girls, one of which stopped me to look at my buttons. She showed me the few she had and asked to trade. I asked for her Stormtrooper button and she asked for one of my Rarity buttons, and I obliged. It was a really fun and cool experience!

    Pics incoming.

  7. I bought some frames for the art prints I bought at AWA yesterday. I had to take a pair of scissors to one of the arts because its dimensions were just barely too large for 11"x14". It hurt to do so, but you can't tell in the frame unless you're very closely looking at it. When buying this stuff, I was concerned I'd have no room to hang them, but as it turned out, I found room! ^^ The art prints are here and there, and the Smash Bros. Brawl Snake Kirby poster went on the outside of my door, which I believe makes this the first time my room's door has ever been decorated!

  8. Today I attended the 3rd and final day of AWA. Being the last day, it closed rather early, and I was only there for around 3 hours because of it. Still, I met with the Canterlanta group a few times and followed them as they browsed the Artist Alley, but lost them when I went off in my own direction. While there, I bought a few things: art prints and a couple of buttons. One of the buttons was of the pokemon Abra holding a sign saying "BRB Teleport." xD Unfortunately, these buttons fell out of the art sheet sleeve at some point. D: The Abra button was the last one of its kind, too... No matter how I retraced my steps, I couldn't find them. So I went back to the artist and told her what happened, offering my very last dollar to purchase the Twilight Sparkle button again, and she gave me a Rarity button as a bonus! That was really nice of her. ^_^

After that, I roamed around, taking pics of cosplayers here and there as usual. There was supposed to be a meetup at 2 PM but I could never find it, unless it was the mass of MLP cosplayers I found. I eventually ran into the Canterlanta people again and asked what they were doing next. They said going back to their room to drop stuff off, so I told them I'd do one last run of the Dealer's Room (where all the merchandise stalls are) to see if anything stood out to me. One of the Canterlanta guys came with me and we systematically perused everything, but didn't find much of interest that was reasonably priced. I did, however, buy one more pony badge because I don't have enough already. xD

I forgot to mention, one of our Canterlanta guys was scouted to be in an elite MLP D&D cosplay group as Fluttershy. I forget her class, though. He got scouted as her because he's very like her, as all those who are scouted are like the character they're picked to be. I say it's an elite group, because the costumes are professionally done and every character is locked to the person picked to play them, so no duplicates allowed. This got me thinking. If I were to get picked, what character do I most resemble to play? I asked the Fluttershy dude this, and he considered for a moment, and said Big Mac. I don't care for Big Mac because of the whole...country...thing, but I got to thinking: take away the country side of Big Mac, and you do have a lot of me. Big, silent, thoughtful, kind, honest, and (arguably) hard-working. ^_^

    Anyway, time for pics!

  9. I attended the second day of AWA today. The day got off to a rough start, but improved as time went on. First off, I neglected to look up the time for the meetup until (shock) it was 50 minutes until, so I ended up missing it thanks to horrific traffic (11 miles of ~5mph thanks to the 3 left lanes being closed for road work on the major interstate I have to take to get there. Also, I left behind my schedule, so I didn't know what was going on the whole day (luckily, I ran into my Canterlanta friends early and stuck with them all day), and I left behind my camera (derp), so there aren't as many pics this time around. I took some with my phone, but it was less convenient.

When I got there, I met up with my brony friends and we went to the Artist Alley, which, as its name implies, is a big room where artists set up stalls to sell their wares. The Luna and Twilight hats, and the Pinkie and Twilight badges and Pinkie keychain, and all the buttons I got yesterday were from Artist Alley. While there, I got some more buttons because they were awesome. After that, I attended a panel about E-Manga. Just as it sounds, E-Manga is manga made for electronic mediums, be it phones or computers. The concept of it is really cool and may get me back into paying for manga. It's manga, naturally, but manga that's FULLY VOICE ACTED. The manga they were demonstrating had both English and Japanese text and voice acting, and they're planning to expand to French and Chinese. You have the option of freely changing between any combination of voice acting and text languages. It sounded really awesome and I'm looking forward to seeing where this medium goes from here.

After that, I crashed with a bunch of the bronies in their hotel room, just sitting around talking (more accurately, sitting around listening to them talk). And then we went to a panel for Vic Mignogna. Now, many of you may not recognize the name, but if you're American or watch American anime dubs, you've most likely heard his voice. Most prevalently, he was the voice of Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist), Broly (Dragonball Z), Tamaki Suou (Ouran High School Host Club), Yoshimori Sumimura (Kekkaishi), Kurz Weber (Full Metal Panic!), Ikkaku Madarame (Bleach), Mao (Disgaea 3), and Junpei Iori (Persona 3). This panel was a BLAST! This guy is really awesome. Over the course of the hour, he publicly announced, "I am officially a brony!", sang happy birthday for a birthday guy using the voice of Tamaki in the style of Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday Mr. President", answered the question of "How are babies made?" by beginning to list the molecular makeup of the human body (15 grams of salt, etc...) then clapping his hands together to transmute a homunculus baby, told many funny stories about acting and various roles he's played...

Then he said something really cool. He said he's a very religious guy (which is fine by me), but he said he was fired from being his church's music production job because of his role as Ed Elric, being a godless alchemist yada yada. He got down about it a bit, and at some point attended a convention as a guest. He said what he experienced there blew him away. All the fans, all the people appreciating his work as an actor, it just made him so happy that he's attended every convention he could since. he said it conflicted with church a lot on Sundays, and he's taken to choosing the cons over church and doesn't regret that decision in the slightest. This guy is just all around awesome.

To clarify: VIC MIGNOGNA. EDWARD ELRIC IS A BRONY.

He also talked about a web series he's in the works on called Star Trek Continues. It's a continuation of the original Star Trek series, where they're rebuilding exact replicas of all the sets used in Star Trek and recasting. Vic himself is playing Captain Kirk, and Chuck Doohan, son of the original Scotty, James Doohan, is cast to fill his father's old role as the new Scotty! Vic also mentioned that a character in from the original Star Trek is returning to play the same role in the web series, 46 years later. he didn't say who, but for some reason, I think it might be (and hope it is) John DeLancie as Q. That would just be so cool!

After the panel, we went to the Artist Alley again, where I bought a couple of really cool MLP-Pokemon crossover badges called My Little Eevee, which have the mane 6 redrawn as Eevee evolutions. I got Twilight, drawn as Umbreon, and Fluttershy, drawn as Leafeon. Then We had some dinner and went to my last panel for the night: a screening of Ponies the Anthology I and II. It was run by 7 or 8 of the creators of the well-known videos. It was really awesome to watch these videos with 200 other bronies; it made the funny parts even funnier. When it got to the part where Fluttershy does the stare at the viewer, many people lets out screams of terror or wept. I personally screamed at the top of my lungs: "NOOOOOOOOO!", "What did I do, Fluttershy!", and "I'm sorry, Fluttershy!" When the PMV segment done to the song "Rainbow in the Dark" came up, I led the crowd in clapping to the drum beat, which made me feel pretty special! <3

After all that, it was time to head home, and here I am. ^_^ Let me show you the pics I did take.

  10. Today, I attended the first day of another convention, Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA)! As its name implies, it's an anime and video game convention in Atlanta, and it always takes place at the end of September. I planned to do some mild cosplay, but can't find the hat, which is pretty much the entire outfit, so I had to scrap it. Lots of good cosplay there, and tons of great art and merchandise! I didn't do a ton today, but I did attend one panel: a panel about legends of ghosts and demons in Japan. It was a really fun insight to the old Japanese legends that are referenced everywhere in anime and superstition. A couple of times, I ran into some Canterlanta friends, and even had lunch with one of them, but we were always going our own way.

Despite not doing cosplay, at three different points today, people asked to take a picture of me. This was because of my awesome pony shirt (perfect for an anime con) and my pony bookbag setup (same as it was at Dragon Con). Here is the shirt I was wearing: http://www.welovefine.com/1537-filly-cooly.html

I took a TON of pics, so I'll just embed the swag and link the rest, like I did with my Dragon Con blog.

  11. [IMG]

As many of you know, I've been losing weight slowly over the past year thanks to my very physical job of walking 20 or so miles a day. Lately, I've also been watching my portion sizes. I haven't changed what I eat, because I like what I eat, but I eat less of it.

Well, today I stepped on the scale when I got home this evening, to see where I'm at.

It read 299. 299! I'm under 300 lbs (136 kg)! Before I started losing weight, I estimate I was somewhere between 370 and 380 lbs (167-172 kg). This is a huge milestone for me! I'm so happy! :omg: Now, to keep it up!

  12. This time around I did a cover of Rhapsody of Fire's "Son of Pain," a beautiful and emotional piece that I hope I did justice. I also made some changes to my existing White Tiger cover, adding some harmonies where there were previously none, fleshing it out and making it sound better. Here you go!

  13. I consider this important enough for a blog entry because dreaming is a very rare thing to me, especially dreaming without immediately forgetting. And to top it off, this was semi-pony-related!

Okay, so I went to Japan on vacation with a couple people who I do not recognize, but I assume are friends in the dream and also bronies. One male, one female. While there, I take in the sights and wander alone into a mall, which is funny because I don't think Japan has malls. There, I wander into a cooking contest where the goal is to make the most unique and creative pastry.

At this point my friends found me, and delegated the task to me, and I, with no cooking experience, was nervous and doubtful. At first, I had a hard time while frying it, because the batter just wouldn't mold together as it should. After a few minutes, I turn the batter over to cook the other side, and sprinkled chunk of sugar on the cooked side. For some reason, this made me wonder if it was okay for my diabetic grandmother to eat, which also for some reason, made my aunt materialize out of nowhere and assure me it was okay. When I turned the other side of the batter over, also now cooked, I noticed the batter now took the shape of a slight curled-up millipede or centipede, slightly crumbling.

So the idea in my mind appeared that it was a giant worm boss in a video game, so I squirted a little ketchup along its side to look like a bloody gash the heroes had caused with their swords, as well as a few drops on the face to look like stab wounds. I won second place, the prize for which was a limited-edition Trixie brushable that had her cape and a magic wand that was for some reason on the back (but no hat). My friends displayed their envy and surprise at the show-accurate cape (this is how I knew they were bronies). At this point, everyone started to gather their stuff and leave.

I found a couple of Game Boy Advance games lying on the floor, but I knew they weren't mine because I had my copy of Final Fantasy VI with me (which is what I'm currently playing in real life), so I picked them up and said in Japanese, "これが誰のですか?" Meaning, "Whose are these?" No one answered, so I started approaching the teacher in charge of the contest, saying, "誰も?" Meaning, "No one?" Then I reached the teacher, who said they were hers in English and she thanked me and explained how she had dropped it. The rest of the dream involved me continually happening upon lost items and giving them to the people who lost them. In the end, I got so sidetracked that I couldn't find my new Trixie I won as a prize. And for some reason the room was taking on a little water, and was ankle deep.

It was at this point that I woke up. I didn't wake up with a feeling of loss or regret, so I imagine I ended up finding the brushable, though I don't remember it. And that, my friends, was Yami's fun dream!

  14. Good evening (for me) everyone! Today I attended Dragon Con in Atlanta. This convention has everything: anime, sci-fi, fantasy, novels, movies, cartoons, comics, ponies, you name it. they call themselves the largest sci-fi and comic convention in the world and after this, I believe it. Today wasn't even as busy as yesterday, where I hear as many as 100,000 people crammed themselves into the 5 hotels that made up the convention.

I did not attend any panels, but rather looked at merchandise, of which there was a bunch of great stuff, but practically nothing pony-related, and walked around seeing the sights, looking at cosplayers. There were, of course, a ton of awesome cosplayers from all kinds of everything. Most of the best I took photos of that you'll see. One regret I do have is not having my camera readily available when I came across an amazing Rarity cosplayer. She had dyed her hair purple, had a white horn, and a perfect human replica of Rarity's gala dress. It was awesome.

At some point I joined the line for the "Walk of Fame" where many actors and actresses sat doing signings and pictures and greetings. My target?

    TARA

    STRONG

That's right, Tara was at this convention, and she's the only one I went to. I blew all my spending money on her (since the merch I'd seen didn't interest me a ton). She signed a lot of my stuff and got a picture with me. A few minutes after, I actually went back to get her to sign another thing and buy a Twilightlicious keychain, which she also signed. When I walked up to her, I had my Twilight cutie mark hat on forwards so she could see it (I usually wear it backwards because that looks best on me) and she yelled at the top of her lungs, "I LIKE YOUR HAT!" xDDD

There was one panel I wanted to go to called MLP 101, but it was full when I got there and it turns out it was a little boring anyway. So I drove 45 minutes out to pick up a friend to whom I offered a ride to get to the meetup they were having. Unfortunately, the long ride made us miss it. *cry* From what I hear as many as 200 bronies showed up to it, too. After that, I headed with the friend to the location of Tara Strong's second panel that day, where I met many of my Canterlanta friends. There I heard the story that they actually ran into Tara as she left the Walk of Fame and she brohoofed them all. ^_^ One of them said something about Twilight being best pony, to which another, decked out in all Pinkie stuff, said "I don't know guys..."

Then Tara turned to him with a stern/angry look and said "Watch it!" and then turned back to the others, her expression remaining forbidding. xD Oh Tara, you are best troll. I didn't stay for the panel though, since I was tired and had accomplished what I had set out to do. So I brohoofed everyone present and bid them farewell. To top the day off perfectly, I stopped for some Zaxby's chicken on the way home. For those of you who don't know, Zaxby's is a fast food restaurant that serves amazing chicken-related dishes and is probably my favorite fast food joint.

Now! For pictures. There are a lot, so I'll just embed my swag and link the others. First off: cosplayers!

This little girl was just being adorable while waiting for a panel to start. Her mom said she'd been riding the escaltor doing this for 15 minutes.

  15. I went to a meetup yesterday at Pizza Hut. We went to support the wonderful, brony-supporting people of Pizza Hut and for deliciousness. After that, we raided a couple of Walmarts, a Target, and a Toys R Us for mad swag.

We also got featured on EqD!
