Oh hai der! Just making a thread to ask you about your favorite anime. My personal favorite is One Piece, I just love the characters and the story lines are brilliant But Death Note comes VERY close due to the fact it really makes you think about morals and has even started up a few heated debates! My favorite anime movie is Akira, I love that movie so much! So in-depth and generally a great movie with moral values and a great story! So everypony, do you guys have a favorite anime? :derpe:
Out of all my favorites my top 5 are: 5. Gundam Wing 4. Full Metal Panic 3. Hellsing Ultimate 2. Fist Of The North Star 1. Kinnikuman
Hmm, so many choices. Some Favorites (In No Particular Order): Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Puella Magi Madoka Magica (aka Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica) Princess Mononoke (Movie) Claymore (Manga) Berserk (Manga) Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm) Birdy the Mighty (Haven't finished manga, seen all animes/OVAs) Soul Eater (Manga is infinitely better--seriously) Full Metal Alchemist (Haven't seen the movie or the other anime) Toradora! Gundam SEED (but not Destiny--seen both) Gravitation (Yaoi fix, I suppose) .hack//SIGN, .hack//Roots (having also played the GU series and half of the original) Just some I've enjoyed greatly. I have seen more, including things like bits of Cardcaptor Sakura, Kiki's Delivery Service, Infinite Stratos, various other gundam animes, Dragon Ball Z. I also follow the manga of Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece, but I have difficulty putting them on a favorites list. Also, I have not watched Death Note or Sword Art Online despite the recommendations. I'm sure I've missed some, but that's the gist.
It's kinda hard to narrow it down, but some of my favorites are: One Piece Dragon Ball Gundam Wing Hikaru No Go The Castle Of Cagliostro (movie) Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Princess Mononoke (movie) Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis (movie) Vampire Hunter D (movie) Ghost In The Shell (movie) Macross Plus Pokemon (the first few seasons/movies) Digimon (ditto) Space Battleship Yamato Robotech Excel Saga Tenchi Muyo Genshiken
I'm not much of an anime person, but that doesn't mean I don't watch it from time to time. Recent ones I've watched are: Trigun High School of the Dead
Code geass (excedingly great) Soul eater and full metal alchemist (brotherhood) and inuyasha and bleach
I'm not much of an anime fan, but I do like Naruto Shippuden a lot. Every week for the last 4 years I have waited for the new episode and manga chapter. I do sometimes go back and watch DBZ too.
The original one where Goku's a kid. DBZ is cool and all, but I like the original series better because it's funny and it has a better plot.
This kind of stuff is what I created the General Anime Thread for... Oh well. There have been many animes that I really liked, but I'm not gonna make a big huge list so I'll just put my absolute favorites Angel Beats Soul Eater Sword Art Online HoTD FLCL Mirai Nikki [The Future Diary] Korewa Zombie Desuka [Is This a Zombie] B Gata H Kei, baka to test to shoukanjuu, Eureka 7, Toradora! and Another are some others that almost make my top favorites list.
For the people who listed High School of the Dead: Do you actually take it seriously, or is it kind of a camp thing? Because I loved it, but in a very "har har, this is terrible" sort of way. Because it really is. I can't pick a single favourite, but right now I'm obsessing over Madoka Magica, so I'm just gonna go with that. Also, there is a distinct lack of Cowboy Bebop in this thread, so let me just say that I will never tire of that show, ever.
HoTD is a very over the top kind of show, it's meant to be that way - everything is exaggerated. Excessive fanservice, gratuitous violence, exaggerated character archetypes. It's very tongue-in-cheek in the way it is portrayed (because it is partially a comedy) but the story itself and some of the situations are both serious and poignant. Underneath all the crazy silliness is an intriguing storyline with dynamic and deep characters overlayed with witty dialogue that made for a unique and interesting show with lots of potential. Shame they aren't making a second season. But, everyone's tastes are different, for example, I was not a fan of Cowboy Bebop, as well as several other shows that have been outrageously popular over the years. *shrug*
This is an easy one. Speed Racer. It was utterly atrocious, poory written, poorly animated, and extremely addictive.
What did you think of the movie? I loved it and thought they did a great job with the special effects (although there are a few scenes where they were just showing off). It's also my favorite Michael Giacchino soundtrack (I'm a big fan of his).
