So I don't particularly watch Dr. Who as much as I used to when I was younger. I feel as if it has gone downhill since the new writer has taken over (the same time Matt Smith joined, and no It's not because of Matt Smith, he is a very talented actor and makes a good doctor) and the most of the episodes feel incomplete and have no explanation of what had happened. The show has exceptions such as the last Christmas special was very entertaining and introduced the new companion very well. The episodes I am talking about are episodes such as 'The Power Of Three' which was about random black cubes appearing which would later be used by aliens to gather information about the Earth. This idea is great idea but was never continued, they just kinda stopped the aliens and saved the human race, and that was really it. Not really any information. It seems they do this just to fit one story in one episode.

For the many of you that don't know, in the older series of Dr. Who, they would have a continuous story which could last up to 7 episodes. This would allow the writers to write a more in depth story's which were brilliant.
Anyway, to the point. I personally believe that if the writers went back to the old format of making a continuous story over several episodes it will make the show better and give the opportunity for more in depth storylines.
Anyway, do you guys see where I am coming from?
Thanks :)
P.S: To any Whovians who are also Bronies, don't take offence, I still think its a good show, just not as good as it used to be.

I've felt that recently, the show's been a little lackluster, discounting what we've seen of Season 7 of course.
Season 6 was, to put it bluntly, boring, and Season 5 was mediocre except for the finale.

I'm not that big a fan of Matt Smith's seasons, though he does play an excellent Doctor. Much preferred Tennant.
Oddly enough though, my view on the companions is that they only seem to improve over time in terms of character development.

I hated Rose.
I liked Martha.
Donna was awesome.
Amy was amazing.
Rory was my absolute favorite.

Looking forward to Oswin's time.

Season 3's finale was in my opinion, the best episodes of the series.

I only started watching a few months ago, and I must say, I'm loving it, with all my heart, mainly because I never got to see the older Dr who series

to be honest, while there was a few lackluster episodes I have enjoyed pretty much every episode. the only ones I didn't enjoy were the Christmas special (the doctor, the widow and the wardrobe) and dinosaurs on a spaceship. Honestly I am hyped for the 50th anniversary seeing as they say they're getting all the previous doctors to reprise their roles. apart from the ones who are dead obviously (1st,2nd and 3rd)

I gotta agree they are kinda mediocre and introduce very interesting concepts that just kinda fall flat as I've said to my friend, "the single episodes are kinda boring and never live up to what I've come to expect but... All of the two part episodes are extremely well written and thought out."

I know David's back, Check the official doctor who Facebook page. Though the two I think will have the most trouble getting hold of is the 8th doctor (can't remember his name) and Christopher Eccleston

There are absolutely no words for me to express just how much I disagree with you.
At least, no words that wouldn't get me banned.

Meh. I liked Martha and Donna more.
As for Moffat's writing, yeah he has his weaknesses, all writers do. But he is really good at the big picture and feels.
Also, I could be wrong, but I think the cube episode was written by someone else. I will have to look that up though.

Doctor Who now?

Ok, so I've noticed that a lot of bronies also like Doctor Who, and it's got me a little curious. I'm going to try to watch some Doctor Who on YouTube, but I don't know where to begin. Where should I start?

I don't think you can watch Doctor Who on YouTube. You might need to get Netflix or just rent it out on DVD.
As for where to start, begin with Season 1 of the new series (9th Doctor).

Oh, and the episode "Power of Three" was not written by Steven Moffat. It was written by Chris Chibnall.
Source.

It took me some getting used to Matt Smith as The Doctor, but I've grown to like him. Sadly, I've watched all the episodes through Netflix and since I don't have the BBC on my television, I can't watch the new episodes. I got lucky with Asylum Of The Daleks on Youtube (On a different channel besides the BBC's Youtube, which has the new Doctor Who episodes but they have to be paid for).

Which sucks, because I've heard great things about this new Season.

You have absolutely no idea how much crap I get for this, but I just didn't like her whatsoever.
Disagree with me all you want, I'm not saying she's a bad character, I just didn't like her.

I knew a few people who were annoyed by the whole 'tragic love story' angle that the writers used with Rose.
Still, I always loved how tough she was.
She was the only companion with NO fear of the Daleks.

Okay... let me try that again...
Rose was the only MODERN companion with no fear of the Daleks.
In fact, the Daleks were actually afraid of HER.

I started watching Doctor Who and became a Whovian during the 2005 showing with Christopher Eccleston. I know many people don't like him as the Doctor, but my friend Tess and I adore him as he was our first Doctor. I think more people would have liked him if they'd given him a 2nd season. I love Tennant though, he's fantastic, I was so sad when he left, his parting was wonderful though. I stopped watching once Matt Smith took over as the Doctor. I forced myself to watch the first season with him and dragged myself through the 2nd and part of the 3rd. I just can't do it. I did however love him in Vincent and the Doctor. However, he's just not a favorite of mine. I'd have to say my biggest issue though it the total revamp they did of the series after Tennant left and the stories they did once Matt took over were just awful. Too many plot holes for me to over look and the new characters added; I frankly can't stand River Song, Vastra and Jenny. *sigh* I promised I wouldn't rant, but that's what you get from a passionate Whovian who isn't very happy.
My favorite companion was Donna. I loved her. My least favorite was probably Martha, mostly because the Doctor was a bit of an ass to her and because her family was horrible. I was so happy when I didn't have to see her mother again- that woman is such a shrew.

I absolutely agree, I really liked that series, I thought the 'Bad Wolf' plot was amazing! Also the finale with all the game shows was fantastic. It also introduced Captain Jack who is one of my favorite characters on TV. I get a lot of crap for this but I prefer Torchwood to Dr. Who.
