I know, it's a relatively old movie, and someone probably already pieced this together. But since it only just came to me, i figured why not make a discussion about it?

In Terminator Salvation, the machines listed Kyle Reese as their priority target. So how the hell did they even know he was John Connor's father? Furthermore, why did they send a machine back to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor if they knew the Resistance would send Kyle to protect her, resulting in John Connor being born in the first place?

Simple. Kyle Reese is the descendant of the same Reese that made Reese's peanut butter cups. Since the machines can't enjoy such deliciousness, they traced down the Reese heritage to take out the last Reese alive as revenge for making something they can't eat. It's just a coincidence that he's also John Connor's father.

But seriously, someone goofed there. I just like to think everything ended after the 2nd movie.

I liked Salvation, but i think three and salvation were technically non canon. Considering the franchise after two is nothing short of a train wreck. Entertaining nonetheless, but still...
