Splice I love this movie for being as unrestrained as it was. I love the idea of a reverse Frankenstein for the modern age of Genetic Engineering with the obsessive mother and a monster that's sculpted by it's treatment. I think Dren is a weird but good looking monster and I think this film has a good brain in it's head while it tries to freak the everloving tut out of you! While I think the film was cut short by the events of the ending and not quite pushing every idea it has going fully, what it does do is really interesting. I'm a little in love with this thing. How about you? What do you think?
I remember this movie, my brother made me watch it. I liked it, didn't think I would but I did. I think dren is a good looking monster too, but probably in a different way. Bow Chicka bow wow I'll have to watch this again, seeing a I don't remember a bunch of it.
I was liking it until Dren x Adrien Brody....that was disgusting. Dren morphing at the end and cornering the female scientist was also creepy. I really liked the jerky business man though. I love that actor.
I remember this, i watched during the weekend one year. Good movie, but a shame to see it so under-rated.
I enjoyed it, excluding the aforementioned Brody-porn and R69 rape. Plus the cat murder. What? I like cats.
I dunno. I liked the part where Dren and Brody's character were intimate. Not because it's titillating but it takes this story in such a disastrous turn that it adds some new drama to it. Effectively, it seems to be the equivalent of Victor Frankenstein's Monster killing Elizabeth but something that would be just as harsh to Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley) and her obsessive mothering. It is a rebellious blow from Dren that wants to explore the world she lives in but has not been allowed. Heck, she's even been de-stingered at this point. It's like an Updated Prometheus. Only with genetics instead of just Science in general.
