Watching Oreimo now, almost finished with it.

It's definitely unique, being an anime about anime, but it is also totally hilarious, if frequently awkward.

It's also interesting because the main character is a young girl who is into anime directed towards adult males, so her hobby is not really socially accepted. Kinda reminds you of something, doesn't it? lol

So from what I see, 2 manga chapters of Naruto is equal to 1 full episode. It looks like the animators are getting more lazy as the series progresses, but hopefully nothing is as bad as the fight between ninetailed fox Naruto vs. Pain.

    For those who don't know:

Been on a big stream of Fullmetal Alchemist. That show is quite awesome, if I do say so myself. I was watching both Trigun and bleach until they were rudely taken off Netflix.

Do you know if Funimation Dub One Piece is on there because I might start going there from now on instead of Onepieceofficial.com?

I usually use hulu for anime, they used to have dubs on there but last year they pulled all the dubs off, you can't even get them on hulu plus. I don't mind subs though so it doesn't bother me.

The AnimeNetwork is a pretty good site, but you have to pay for dubs and a lot of times you have to pay to be able to watch a full series, but they have all the newest shows, so I use it to see what's new, then wait for it to hit hulu.

I saw a couple people on here mention Sword Art Online, and as it happens I logged onto hulu today and it was one of the first ones to come up, so I decided to try the first episode.

    Now I'm totally hooked. :D

I used to be a big mmorpg player back in the day, so SAO is right up my alley - I'm blazing through the episodes right now xD

Well, originally I thought there were far more anime lovers on this forum than the activity of this and threads like this one would suggest. Oh well.

    Bump.

So, for the last couple weeks I've been in full otaku mode, and have seen quite a few really good animes, and some that were... not so good.

Oreimo 2 I think was the first one I saw since getting back into anime, and overall it was a disappointment. It's still got all the cute and funny stuff but the second season placed a lot of emphasis on Kosuka's relationships, namely his new love interest whom I disagree should be his love interest. Although I will admit that I mainly dislike it because it goes against my own head canon (I was rooting for Ayase). Also, the awkward factor gets bumped up x20, which made a lot of parts just... weird.

Another new one for 2013 is Attack on Titan, which is immensely popular right now. It's a bit like Naruto in that it's a Shonen anime where the main character is a young adult male that often has more will than talent, but his willpower and stubbornness allows him to overcome all kinds of obstacles. However, I don't recommend that all fans of Naruto go watch this show, because there is a major gap between the intended audiences' age groups. Attack on Titan is a far more mature show and it is very graphic and violent. That said, it is an amazing show... the characters have a lot of depth and development, the story (while slow in the beginning) is intriguing and well-developed, and the animation is smooth and exhilarating, especially during the fast-paced battle scenes. Exciting, gritty and full of emotion, it's definitely this year's must-see show.

I'm also jst now seeing the show Lucky Star for the first time and I really wish I had seen this show sooner. One of the most classic slice of life animes, it's funny, relaxing, all kinds of cute and full of refernces for the discerning otaku to pick up on. Most have prolly already seen this show, if you haven't then you should if you love anime, especially slice of life/comedy shows. However, if you want to 'get' a good portion of the references there are several shows you should watch (at least a little) beforehand, namely Full Metal Panic, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Gintama, as they get referenced a lot in this show.

Another really amazing show I'm watching now is Moritasan wa Mukuchi. This one is a little different from normal animes, namely because each episode is only 3 minutes long. So it's kind of like a mini-series. It's a slice of life that centers on the daily lives of 4 high school girls so there isn't much story, but the characters are very fun to watch, and it's surprising just how much cute and funny they manage to stick into 3 minutes. This show is a pure delight to watch, and it's perfect if you've got a few minutes to kill but don't have time for a full 22 minute episode. I've heard it's great to watch on your iPad or whatever while you're waiting in line or for a bus.

Another really cute and funny slice of life show is Yuyushiki. Basically it's about three friends (Yui, Yukari and Yuzuko) who have very different personalities but really good chemistry that lends itself to a lot of giggle-worthy dialogue. Lots of really random discussions and silly shenanigans, it's kind of like a full length version of Moritasan wa Mukuchi.

Another really amazing anime I've recently discovered is The World God Only Knows. It's about a dating-sim loving, loner-type otaku who is so good at conquering girls in-game that he receives an anonymous challenge to try out his skills. Unbeknownst to him this challenge is a contract that pairs him with a ditszy female demon and they have to go around collecting rogue demons. But the catch is that these rogue demons inhabit the emptiness in people's hearts, and in order to push them out, he has to take their place in their hearts i.e. he has to make real life girls fall in love with him, and he's never dealt with real life girls before. However, he manages to apply his vast knowledge of dating sim games to the real world and win the hearts of these girls. If this sounds like the setup for your typical harem anime, it would be, but after he conquers these girls they forget about the whole thing, so he doesn't end up with a dozen girls hanging onto him like your typical harem, which is a very clever way to avoid your typical harem cliches. It is also devoid of almost all fan-service, which further sets it apart from all the run-of-the-mill harems out there.
This show is brilliant in all kinds of ways, the main character reminds me a lot of Sherlock Holmes, cold, logical, eccentric and daring...and the chemistry he has with his female companion due to their very opposed personalities makes for a lot of very entertaining scenes. Every new challenge he comes across seems more impossible than the last, yet you'll be on the edge of your seat wondering just how is he going to overcome the newest challenge. Very suspensful, engaging, and funny, I highly recommend it.

The last one is one my brother got on DVD on a whim, and is basically forcing me to watch. Rosario+Vampire. This show, as much as I'd like to think that all shows have their merits, is complete and utter garbage. It's your typical generic harem where all the characters are stereotypical, the situations contrived, ridiculous amounts of unnecessary fanservice and the main character despite being a wimp and almost entirely useless, manages to collect high school girls like friggin pokemon.
Now, there are a few harems out there that despite being generic in execution have something going for them, perhaps they're humorous or very moe, but not this one. The animation is garbage, the dialogue is awkward, there are scenes like the main girl's transformation scene that are repeated shot for shot, word for word each episode...
I could go on and on about how terrible this show is, but just trust me on this, if you ever have the chance to watch this show, pass. Heck, even if all you wanted to see was unnecessary rubbing and blatant panty shots I could think of a half dozen off of my head that would be infinitely more entertaining than this. Seriously, I would be more interested in playing minesweeper for 8 solid hours.

Anyway, that wraps all the latest shows I've seen, the ones I remember anyway. Right now I think I'm watching 4 shows simultaneously with about another 30 or so on my queue lol. So if you want me to give you an opinion on a show you're considering or want a recommendation for what to watch next, I can prolly help with that.

If you have something to add or want to talk about a show you've seen, this is the place to do it so feel free to discuss.

...cuz I'm pretty sure I'm just talking to myself at this point :derpe:

Frost, you're being crazy. Minesweeper is the best game ever.

ANYWAYS, I've started on Gurren Lagann. And I finished Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.

I started watching One Piece about a week ago. FROM THE BEGINNING. Up to episode 156 now, skipping fillers. I'm mainly doing this to refresh my memories as I read the manga that comes out every week.

Wow, 156 eps in a week? That's some iron man shizz right there lol.

Currently I'm watching Attack on Titan, Servant x Service and Watamote as they get simulcast, and I'm also going through all the eps of Madoka Magika. I need something less serious to go with it though so I'm trying out Shugo Chara, although I have a feeling I won't be sticking with it very long.

I've also gotta get started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion because they're screening NGA 3.0 at NYCC in October so I want to be caught up with the series when I go.

I'm currently watching Kino's Jorney and Paradise Kiss (which is better than it sounds btw). I'm still not over the post madoka magica hype, though.

Prrrrrrobably going to watch Paranoia Agent afterwards. Have anybody seen it?
