This is the MLP fan film I mentioned in my intro thread. It is basically a ponified miniature-effects student film to demonstrate my model-making and practical effects abilities for future film projects. The Earth and its neighboring Solar planets have been destroyed, forcing off-world humans to search for a new homeworld in the depths of alien space. They found one... For years us humans and an intelligent pony species have coexisted and shared our technological knowledge. But some of us sought total conquest of the planet, hoping to eliminate them so that we can be the dominant species of the planet and space itself. A special unit was created with the cooperation of the Equestrian armed forces and the human militaries to counter these advanced terrorists, officially designated the 125th Stellar Defence Force. Also known as... Battlewings. Would anyone be interested in some behind-the-scenes material? - - Auto Merge - - This project was originally a spin-off for another film I was doing called Alien Reborn, which was an Alien fan film that never got completed. I decided to make it standalone and recycled the models into this project. This explains why the following early concept art has a very "Alien" feel to it.

The model miniatures. They were all constructed from things I found in trash cans and recycle bins, mostly electrical components. - - Auto Merge - - Thanks! I don't know when it will be finished, but I hope within the year. It's hard working on EVERYTHING by myself, with the only exception being voice talents.
You've created everything by yourself...? What are you some kind of wizard? The concept art is really neat, and really nice trailer. Also just curious; what kind of process goes into making those models?
Yep, everything. Script, concepts, shooting, models, effects, some of the soundtrack, and some voice-acting. Regarding the models, it's simple really. Just collect a bunch of junk and whatever looks like it'll make a nice ship design, or what fits the concept the closest, and glue them together. Then paint them (I like using a flat gray primer). The total depth and scale of a ship depends on how many greebles (the little details) you put on the surface, and how you move them or the camera when shooting.
