Get freaking hype! Sent from my Nokia 3310 using Tapatalk 2
I see they finally managed to create a lightsaber more awesome than Darth Maul's. Also, that dogfight at the end... I wanna see more.
That lightsaber's handguard is way too impractical. The mechanical part of it juts out so that if a lightsaber came down on it it would just cut off that part. Still super badass though.
#LightsaberClaymore Anyway, there do exist metals in the Star Wars universe that Lightsabers have trouble with cutting, or can't cut at all. The mechanical part could very well be made of one of those materials.
Phrik can resist a lightsaber blade, and was used to create the electrostaffs used by Count Dooku and General Grievous' guards, as well as the Emperor's own lightsaber. Cortosis has the ability to short out a lightsaber on contact, but as it only appeared in the Expanded Universe, it may or may not be canon. Mandalorian iron seems like the most probable candidate, as it is canonically nearly indestructible, and can easy resist countless blows from a lightsaber.
Gotta admit I grew more interested when they released this version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6hi179ouOw Shorter, but more profound. Looks more like an actual Star Wars movie. I seriously thought it was a fake trailer when I first saw it. It's too... over the top in weirdness.
The reason the Lightsaber sounds more wickeder (If you noticed) is because it was poorly built. But I'll give this a HELL YEAH!!!
About that canonicity part... Adult Novels: Absolutely everything before A New Dawn (released September 2nd) is non-canon. Youth Novels: Absolutely everything before Ezra's Gamble (released August 5th) is non-canon. Short Stories: Absolutely everything before "Blade Squadron" (first part in Star Wars Insider #149, released April 22nd) is non-canon. Television: The Clone Wars, meaning the show that ran from 2008 to 2014, is still canon. Otherwise, everything before Rebels (premiered October 3rd) is non-canon. Comics: Darth Maul — Son of Dathomir, a four-issue limited series from Dark Horse, is still canon. Otherwise, there are no canonical comics at all until Marvel's run begins next year. Video Games: The Old Republic, the MMO, is still canon. Otherwise, there are no canonical video games until... the new Battlefront next year, I think. Audio Dramas: Absolutely everything is non-canon, and it's unlikely there will ever be any canonical ones, since the medium is almost dead. Theatrical Films: As if I really needed to say this, but there's no change. The latest versions of the seven films thus far (the six Episodes and the theatrical pilot of The Clone Wars) are all canonical.
Good to know. I thought it was just Episodes 1-6, The Clone Wars pilot and series, and Rebels. Also, since cortosis was mentioned in SWTOR (according to Wookiepedia, anyway), that means that cortosis is canon.
Probably not. - - Auto Merge - - Also, Stephen Colbert solved it:
I think the sabor looks super cool. it looks pretty big if you look at it, like a claymore lightsabre. It's something the old movies conveyed a bit, but I like the idea of them being heavy, rather then weightless like they in the prequels. Can they even slide against each other anyway? I've never actually seen it happen.

So, the guy who played Obi-Wan in the prequels is complaining about how the claymore lightsaber is, "Impractical." Ok first of all Lightsabers are designed by their wielder to fit their needs. Second of all, he was part of one of the biggest failures in Star Wars history so he has no right to talk.
