TFS Update~ A huge list of updates are here today including the Buu Saga process, the release date of the first official dub of Hells, the general release date of the season finale of Hellsing Ultimate Abriged, and so much more!
I'm worried about "Season 4 is not gonna be like Season 3, we are gonna have more fun" announcement. One thing I always praised about DBZA is how close is sticks to the source material, which is why it's the only "abridged series" that I enjoy (I don't even perceive it as an "abridged series", but as another dub, only more comedic than the Funimation or Saban ones). It's the reason why I like "Super": the tone and characterizations are very similar to DBZA. If they start to throw jokes that don't follow the source material for the sake of "lolz", it's gonna be just like any other "abridged series", and lose what made it so good in the first place.
Okay. Let's address somethings here first before anything else. TFS was originally never intending to do the Buu Saga, which is why they seem to be in a bit of a rush to get out episodes and have more 'fun' with it when they get around to making and posting Season 4. In fact KaiserNeko posted this reddit post to address all the fans on the issue of if Episode 60 will be the finale for the whole series, or if they intend to do the Buu Saga. With how he was talking. Doing the Buu Saga was not even considered til after they had their year long break from DBZA. You know, when they hyped the Cell Games with those video shorts. Though because their was a change of heart after the break, it makes me wonder if they decided to do the Buu Saga to silence their many fans who were wanting them to do it. And due to this decision to go ahead and do the Buu Saga. They ended up planning to do episodes in chunks instead of working on one and releasing it, like before. And thusly will not be spending too much time on much other than humor most likely. Though I will not deny that I share some concerns with the fact that it'll not be as serious or as story driven as what came before. But I really do hope they stick to the story on some level, even if it has to be a subtle nudged. I know their more fast and loose approach is concerning for other fans too. But thinking from the stand point of the TFS members, I think I can understand why they may want to crank out Buu faster than the others. They were planning for Episode 60 to be the end for the whole thing. But due to the mass amount of fans wanting more. They felt like if they did end it like that, that they would have less fans watching their content. Or at least they would lose a good chunk of their fans. Appeasing fans of something you do is a tricky affair and not something that everyone can handle with ease. And not everyone will be watching TFS for their other content. But for one particular abridged series, for their gaming, etc. And they have a huge following from DBZA alone. So yeah. I really do hope their fans can understand that all good things will have to come to a end eventually.
