So yeah I took the leap and made a fic, like basically everyone else in the fandom. However I had never written anything story wise for an actual reason before. Not even for school. So I was really surprised to see that several of my brony friends do enjoy the story and writing style I made and use. The thing is, I have a hard time believeing them. I don't have some hidden talent, and my writing style is farely simple. So when I'm typing the chapters like when I make it edits and stuff, I get discouraged at my own work by the simple way it looks. It's not complex, it's not the most descriptive story either, but its not a bad thing to be simple. So yeah, I have a hard time believeing my story is good, and I have a harder time not getting discouraged by it. Don't know exaxtly what to do about it.
I've had the same problem, no matter what everyone else says, you can't believe them. Whats more important than other people liking it, do YOU like it?
That. So long as you enjoy it, then others should, too. It's near impossible to write a 'bad' FanFic.
Well, most readers are not writing critics. I mean, I have people tell me how much they loved my story before its revision, but I have improved substantially as a writer over this past year. As I recently just did the rewrites/revisions of my first 3 chapters, I cringed at how bad it was, but I'm also very proud of how much better the new ones are. I'd like to point to Allegrezza being an amazing story without really bearing the greatest prose in the world, but it accomplishes everything it wanted to.
Writing is an amazing thing, whether your good or bad. Just keep at it, and enjoy! There's really nothing more you can ask.
