Hey y'all. This is just a little Princess Mononoke MLP crossover I've been working on. Yeah, I know, the titles lame. Feel free to suggest something better. All feedback is welcome — — — — — Chapter 1 Blueslash Sky soared through the air, kicking clouds out of the sky and allowing sun to shine on the small town of Appaloosa. Being a lone weather pony in a wide open sky might seem like an opportunity for freedom and adventure, but the workers of Appaloosa expected clear skies at all times except for the occasional light downpour. Rather than assembling massive storms and blizzards, Blue's job consisted of little more than sweeping aside white, fluffy clouds. What made things worse was that Blue wasn't even meant for this task. He was given the job simply because he was the only pegasus pony for miles. Since everypony else in Appaloosa was an earth pony, the golden shield on his bright azure flank was irrelevant. He was condemned to the life of a weather pony regardless of his own personal preference. As Blue glided back and forth pushing clouds aside with his hind legs, he heard a distinct rustling noise in the distance. He glanced nervously towards the fields of apple trees. It was early morning, long before the workers started their daily apple bucking. At this hour, just at sunrise, he was usually one of the only ponies up. Curious, the pegasus swooped towards the edge of the orchid to investigate. He looked through the trees into the shady maze of bark and branches. Streams of golden morning light seeped though, illuminating the apples beneath. Just then, Blueslash saw a black silhouette in the distance plowing through the foliage. It was getting closer and closer. There was a deafening sound of timber and branches crashing as the creature dashed towards the tree line. Blueslash leapt out of the way, somersaulting into a patch of grass just as the beast broke through the tree line. He scrambled to his hooves and turned to face the beast.* Standing in the open was, or at least used to be, a full grown buffalo. It's skin was black and slimy and it reeked of rotten apples. It's coat seemed to ooze and wriggle as if it was made up of hundreds of tiny black worms. Blue looked the beast in the eyes, but was horrified to find it had no eyes. Dark slime oozed out of it's empty eye sockets like sticky sap oozing from a tree. The beast opened it's mouth as if to speak, but no words came out. Instead, the very same muck that occupied his eye sockets spilled out like a toxic, demonic waterfall. "Don't touch it!" A small voice cried. Blue spun around and saw a small, frail buffalo watching him. What was Little Strongheart doing this far away from the rest of the buffalo? They weren't supposed to stampede through Appaloosa for another few months. "It's cursed!" She cautioned. "Don't let a single drop of that muck touch you!" Normally Blue would've laughed and said that curses are a load of crab apples, but the disturbing evidence was standing menacingly in front of him. The cursed creature slowly began moving again, this time towards the town. "Stop it!" Little Strongheart commanded. "How am I supposed stop it if I can't touch it!?" Blueslash cried frantically. The demon began gaining speed, trotting towards the ignorant town. The pegasus took off towards the buffalo at full speed. He grabbed a rock off the desert ground an threw it at the beast. The rock sunk into the monster's skin like a pony sinking into quick sand. Blueslash beat his wings as hard as he could and zoomed in front of the raging demon. Little Strongheart was running alongside Blueslash. "Don't you have any weapons?" She asked. Blue's mind raced. Nopony in Appaloosa had anything that could be considered a weapon. Weapons were illegal in Equestria unless you were a member of the Royal Guard... Or a law enforcement pony. "Run ahead!" Blueslash shouted at Little Strongheart. "Warn them!" The buffalo nodded and began running faster. Blueslash veered left as the cursed creature continued it's furious sprint. His wings were moving faster than ever before.* He burst through Sheriff Silverstar's office door and looked around. His eyes locked onto a glass display case with a longsword inside. Blueslash smashed his hoof into the glass, shattering it. He stuck his head into the display case and gripped the hilt of the sword in his teeth. The cold metallic taste of the hilt filled Blue's mouth as he dashed outside again. The townsponies were now aware of the beast attacking their town. Little Strongheart was barking commands at the panicking ponies, warning them not to touch the monster.* Blueslash soared towards the beast, the longsword from Sheriff Silverstar's office gripped tightly in his teeth. He glided just above the black beast and jerked his head downwards. The sword flew directly into the monsters left eye. The foul beast let out a bloodcurdling howl that sent shivers down Blueslash's spine.* But the creature didn't stop. It's slimy black skin still sloshed around like a sea of deathly maggots. It's skinny legs still raced as it scurried towards the town. And most importantly, it was still angry. The only difference was the sword that was halfway imbedded in one empty eye socket. "Almost!" Little Strongheart cried. "You almost got it!" Blueslash let out a frustrated groan. He was going to put a stop to this once and for all. He glided dangerously close to the creature's back. The sword was just in front of him, protruding from the creature's eye. The slime on it's back licked Blue's stomach like cold, black flames. They didn't quite touch him but they were close enough for him to feel their icy presence. He stretched out his left hoof and gripped the top of the sword, careful not to touch the putrid slimy skin. Blueslash pressed down with all his might. A shrill screech erupted from the creatures mouth. Blueslash's hoof slid forward pressing against the icy muck. The black slime crawled up his hoof like an army of ants, seeping into his skin. He gasped as the frigid flames bit his flesh like long, slimy fangs. The beast collapsed, sliding across the ground. A cloud of dust rose in it's wake. Blueslash skidded across the ground in front of the beast, tumbling into a patch of grass at the edge of the town. The sharp, icy pain had gone away. It was replaced by a numb tingling sensation in his hoof. Slowly, he stood up, careful not to put too much weight on his injure leg. Little Strongheart ran up to him, then stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes latched onto his left hoof. Blueslash glanced down at his own leg. "You touched it," the buffalo stated softly. "You're dead."
I like this. I can't wait to read more. I can't offer feedback though, I'm not much of a writer. I do want to know what happens to blueslash, please don't make me wait. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
