@yamet: I understand giving a movie a chance, but this... 'movie' is something that looks like there is no effort in it nor any person caring to put effort into it. I'm losing brain cells thinking about it. Also Asmo's compassion is actually valid because it is making the point that there was no effort put into this movie. BTW, the concept of the Magic of Friendship among the brony community refers to promoting community and kindness to others despite issues or things they have done in the past. That has no bearing on something that as unrelated as this. This is about personal opinion on something coming out.

I'm a little curious, is there a trailer for this movie somewhere? I mean, I wasn't able to find one and the article didn't mention it. Ass is a reference to the movie Idiocracy, which shows a dystopian future America where everyone has become extremely stupid, to the point that the most popular movie of the time is literally just two hours of some dude's ass.
Well, yes. However what people in this thread is going isn't like that at all. It's more of screaming "This movie is going to be the worst movie ever because I don't like the idea behind it". Nobody has even mentioned why they think that a movie based on emojis is a stupid idea. Movies like "the lego movie" and "warm bodies" was based on stupid ideas and they turned out okay. And how come no one complain about "Sausage Party"? That's a movie about goddamn food and yet I don't see any hate for it. But maybe hating on that movie isn't cool.
@Heimdall Where The Lego Movie is all about creativity, a good message, this emoji movie looks to be made just to profit off of a cool kids' trend. And I've never seen Warm Bodies, or heard of Sausage Party. Sorry.

And yet again we have come back to the argument "I don't like the idea behind it and therefore it's bad". But please explain to me how the fact that it's a movie about emojies prove that the movie is made simply to cash in on a trend.
I shouldn't have to. For the same reason I shouldn't have to explain why playing in traffic is a bad idea, or why smoking is bad for your lungs. It's so obvious. There's no way anyone in Hollywood thought an emoji would be a good character. But it's not hard to imagine someone thinking, "Hmm, kids like emoji, let's see how we can turn that into profit." But I can't make you want the truth; it's up to you.
