Rogue One tells the story of the some of the Rebellion's greatest heroes-- the team that stole the Death Star plans. It's a story of hope and redemption, and it's also one of the darkest Star Wars stories ever told onscreen. So, let's discuss this thing.
I enjoyed it. Knew how it was going to end so it was more about the journey. Well, that and essentially playing Star Wars BINGO. Even with some of the backlash, I thought the use of Tarkin was tastefully done. Some say it was robotic but to me, it was fine. Overall: 7/10
I went in with no idea how it would end. It wasn't until the Death Star showed up that I finally realized that none of them would be getting out alive. But, that's what made the story so powerful. This really felt like a struggle against impossible odds, and even though the Rogue One crew didn't survive the mission, they died knowing that they had done all they could, and in the end, they succeeded. This was the first Star Wars movie to truly feel like a war movie.
