Boy if I had told old me that I would do something like this I would have called myself crazy. Either way... this is the official topic to talk all things The Lion Guard. I'm having a SERIOUS moment of deja vu right now. The Lion Guard pilot re-aired this weekend. So what did I do? My curiosity got the best of me and I watched it. After that... I watched S1E1 and S1E2 online today. My thoughts? Well... To be honest... Spoiler If you get past the somewhat 'kiddie-ness' of it... the content... is there. In fact... it's not just there... it's there BIG TIME. It's quite decent. I'm starting to fall in love with it. Then again this is Disney. They've shown that they know what their doing. One other thing. I know it seems like I'm doing this because it's the game I'm currently playing but... There are quite a few similarities between The Lion Guard and Final Fantasy XV. They both involve 'kingdoms' (for the most part), they both involved sons of kings (princes). The similarities... are... very ironic. Kion=Noctis Beshte=Gladiolus Ono=Ignis Bunga=Prompto Fuli= I have no idea. Really I don't. The only characters she could be would be Luna, Cindy, and Aranea. None of those really 'fit.' Plus... Luna would create inter-species shipping. Jasiri= I don't know. Aranea? I guess? Or Luna but again... inter-species shipping. Just saying... But... I'm probably the only fan. Which is fine. Because I don't fall in your god damn 'lines' I jump out of them and do my own unique thing. Because being unique is what your supposed to do. You're not supposed to 'fall in line.' So yeah. Just call me 'LostSanity the Roman Reigns of the internet that now likes The Lion Guard and is starting to like it more than MLP: FiM' Or just call me a Lion Guard fan. That's probably easier.
Double posting because I can and I'm clearly the only fan of it on here. Bunga is such a ditz. But I love him for it. He really is the Prompto of this show.
You know what I just realized? Spoiler If The Lion Guard somehow ends up in Kingdom Hearts III... I might just lose my mind. Because the more episodes I watch the more I fall in love with it.
Alright, well, I watched the pilot. I enjoyed it. I won't go so far as to say it was perfect, but I enjoyed it. I am a bit curious why they decided to make Kion the son of Simba and Nala instead of the son of Kiara and Kovu. It strikes me as odd that Kion, as a protector of the Pridelands, would be utterly absent during its darkest hour since Scar's reign--specifically, the Outsider attack at the climax of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. From a continuity standpoint, I'm just not sure it works.
They actually did an episode of Cartoon Conspiracy about that. Kion could have been dead, or he was out looking for a mate.
I'll be honest. I've never seen Lion King 2. But I don't think even if I was to watch it, it would change my mind on this series. I've never really been the type to care about canon and/or continuity. Either way... Even the 'Slice of Life' episodes of this show seem to be of decent content and quality. I'm also addicted to the following theme now most likely due to my new fandom: Spoiler (it's the battle theme of the Pride Lands in Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix)
I recommend it. It's not as good as the first, but still very good for a Disney sequel. There's also The Lion King 1 1/2, which essentially retells the story of the first movie from Pumbaa and Timon's point of view.
I'm officially half way through The Lion Guard Season 1. Only 13 more left. Needless to say... I'm SO glad I got into this. It's officially my new favorite show. Which means that I like The Lion Guard more than MLP: FiM.
Well thank God for small favors. Now that you've found a new show, are you gonna stop pissing in our corn flakes?
Remember how I said The Lion Guard reminds me of Final Fantasy XV? I don't think I want it to be like Final Fantasy XV anymore. At least not in terms of how it ends anyway. Spoiler Because I like Kion too much for him to end up dead.
I'm still a bit concerned that his absence in the sequel might put him in the Doomed By Canon territory.
I never said I wouldn't end things with a bang. Why... Because... Spoiler This show is SO MUCH BETTER than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that it's not even CLOSE. *drops mic* With that I leave possibly for good.
The Lion Guard is nothing more than Disney attempting to capitalize on the success of FiM. For *squee!*'s sake, they even gave 'em all cutie marks.
Okay after doing some research they don't have cutie marks. They have badges. They all have the same mark. It be one thing is they had unique marks somewhere on their body, but it's all the same mark. Having the same marks is common among teams it's been done forever. Transformers, Power Rangers Turbo, The GIJoe movie line. It's nothing new, and it's not cutie marks.
It was a mark that appeared on Kion when he realized his destiny. Not exactly a cutie mark, but close enough.
It's a stupid faction badge, so it appeared magically. The Lion King already has magic of some sort established in the movie. It doesn't mean it's a cutie mark. You'd have an argument if they were each different, but since they're all the same, it's not the same thing at all. If I remember correctly and forgive me it has been a long time, but when they added three new Thundercats the newbies didn't have the emblem at first it magically appeared when they joined up.
