If you put it that way, any language is a form of code. You have an abstract thought and communicate it to somebody else by encoding it in e.g. english!

Writing HTML and CSS from scratch is a nightmare. Try a frontend framework like Twitter Bootstrap: http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/#examples

Oh, I'm not writing it from scratch-just messing around the EP code to make a theme for the contest :)
