I like ellipses. I tend to write how I speak, so they're useful to indicate what would be a pause if the words were spoken.

Adding my two cents to this: Ellipses are meant to indicate long pauses. If a person takes more than a handful of seconds to get to the next sentence, a single period isn't going to cut it.

That being said, there's something to be said for moderation.

I'm pretty sure it's not the ellipses, but the multiple messages when they could be put into one message.
