You know one thing thats really gotten to me lately is it seems theres a decent amount of anime fans (mostly on ANN & a few other places) that like to diss Bronies, this makes me a bit sad. Oh well, guess there just jealous our fanbase (ATM any who) is better off then theres, that is to say, not as many overly negative, whiny, douchy, man-child like people. Although I do feel a bit bad typing that as I frequent anime forums more then MLP forums, lol. Guess that makes me one of those self loathing animu fans rofl. Back on topic, Recently ordered bunch of Tezuka manga from Amazon, looking forward to reading those this weekend. Seriously Osamu Tezkua isn't called the Godfather of Japanese comics for nothing. The guy was great, heck even his weaker stuff is better then most of the drek Japan (or any other country for that matter, lol) pumps out these days. But i'm admitingly bias as I have a soft spot for classic/retro stuff/
Only thing of his I've read was Apollo's Song and I hated it. There were no coherent themes or ideas in it and the 'plot' was just an incoherent mish-mash of various cliches from different genres of literature. I loved the idea of it (sort of a dark Freudian character study with mythological overtones), and that is sort of what he delivered, but the execution was awful. Bad plots. Bad character development. Even the character art seemed sloppy and haphazard, I want to be exposed to something GOOD he's written. Any recommendations?
Personally I enjoy Appollo's song, I think its just the retro style that throws people off. But meh to each their own, but if you didn't enjoy that not really sure what to recommend, Tezkua likes to borrow from greco-roman mythology and add his own twist on it. But yeah AS is really more about personal interpretation as opposed to a typical storyline. But I guess Buddha would be my top recommendation, its arguably one of his best works. And DMP is releasing UNICO this December, might want to check it out, since you know its about a cute lil unicorn, lol.
