Disregarding the (very) low-budget free short-movie Assassin's Creed Lineage, Ubisoft has announced they're planning on making a full budget Assassin's Creed movie with Michael Fassbender taking the lead role. For those of you who don't know who Michael Fassbender is (though i doubt that), his recent movie roles include but are not limited to Magneto in X-Men First Class, and David in Prometheus. Spoiler Even though the time period and setting of the movie haven't been announced yet, I'm fairly sure they'll start it off with Altaïr. The way i see it, they'll start off there, or with some completely new Assassin not seen or mentioned in any of the games. Release date has also not been announced yet. Source
Cool, I guess... Thought the films based on games can be slightly terrible, and vice versa. Example being Tomb Raider- Them horrific films- and Harry Potter- Usually horrific games... I'm not too confident. It could be good.
Fassbender is amazing. I'm interested in this movie, as long as he makes Desmond just as interesting as his ancestors. Wait....is he doing Desmond or Altair?
Nothing is known about this movie. For all we know, it might be a story completely loose from the video games. Either way, i doubt they're going to use the whole Animus/Desmond stuff. It would just make things too complicated for a movie.
What i mean is none of that will probably involved. Nothing of the present time. Just a straight-forward historic movie about the Assassin's brotherhood with no mention of what happens in the games. Of course, these are just my own assumptions. Anything could happen. But i don't think it'll be a very good movie if they include the whole Desmond storyline from the games. Judging from the fact that it'll only be a 2 hour or 2.5 hour movie at best, they won't have time to explain all of that.
