I don't think i can see another thread about this anime. So here is one! If you haven't seen this Anime, i suggest you do so. This anime is one of the best shows i've ever seen. Its so deep and it all feels real. Unlike any other anime these are actual humans. They have feelings and they react like any other human would. NO charging in with a rasengan here. The anime is about the last stand of Human kind. They have walled themselves in from the Titans. Right now there are 50 meter walls protecting them, and the average titan is 4-15 meters. The titans are gigantic humanoids. Most of them are built like a male and they all miss their genitalia, so their way of reproduction is unknown. We get to follow Eren and his two friends on an epic journey of fear and the humiliation of being caged like birds. I highly recommend this to everyone! Just have a look at the opening! I really like that anime. Especially the first episodes when people with big dreams dying just like everyone else. Also representation of evil as a gigantic nude human is very well done. I say it's very deep. Another thing I liked is a captain that sacrifice his people for greater good. His gloomy look and sharp mind is just gorgeous. It's one of the best anime I saw. Other than that I'll use words of some fan: "Anime is fine, but it needs more blood". Just kidding xD
Definitely one to remember. It has amazing pace, Levi is sexy as hell, the titan designs are awesome, and everything in general is amazing.
Levi is hot. Eren is hot. Mikasa is hot. Armin is cute! The list can go on, all the characters are either cute, hot or just awesome!
I already posted my thoughts on this in the General Anime Thread, but seeing as how this is the most popular anime this year this might actually turn into a semi-lively discussion. Attack on Titan is -in a word- badflank. While the concept and much of the overall art style is pretty simplistic, it's also really detailed in all the parts where it counts. The world and story behind AoT seem really well developed and thought out, and there's a lot of intrique and suspense which I think is the main reason so many people love this show - to find out more, to see what happens next. Also...the fight scenes. Can't forget about the fight scenes. Unlike a lot of anime, this takes a note out of Gai-Rei-Zero's book by having action scenes that are fast paced and move in real time, instead of using the more boring still shots that a lot often do. The pacing is also very comfortable, the slow parts are just long enough to expound on the character arcs and story and give the fast paced parts more emphasis without dragging. And when the action starts, it's intense and awesome and omg the animation detail... haha I love it. I'm also a fan of the fact that it's gritty and a times very graphic. It feels very real, even when tons of people are dying you feel for each one of them... It's almost kinda Game of Thrones that way, just when you get to know a character and start connecting with them, they die. Like in the most horrible and gruesome way possible lol. And even though it is is a lot of the time really dark and graphic, there are some genuinely funny parts... Spoiler: spoiler like potato girl (in the beginning anyway) and when Eren crashed into the church in Titan form right on cue and squished all the wall-worshippers xD This seems like the show that will bring the more graphic and gritty side of anime, which for the longest time has only really been known to the otaku types, into the mainstream. Definitely a far more interesting take on the shoujo genre than mainstays like Naruto and Bleach. Spoiler: spoiler A lot of people said they knew who the female titan was before they revealed it, but honestly I had no clue. And when I found out I literally facepalmed it seemed so obvious ha. Spoiler: spoiler So who watched til the end of the credits after the last episode and saw the Colossus hidden in the wall? I'm thinking it's gotta be the miners from the story, although I have no idea how they got that way. But there seems to be a real subtext indicating that the walls don't keep the people safe from the titans, but rather the walls are more like a cage and the titans are the ones who are keeping them there...they actually mentioned that fact in the first episode during Eren's narration, so maybe the titans built the walls? As an interesting sidenote: I mentioned in my NYCC coverage that there was a lot of Attack on titan cosplay and merch at the con...like a lot. I actually saw whole groups of people dressed in full Corps garb complete with manuever gear and everything. There was one group of at least a dozen asian kids who were all dressed as different characters from the show... it was everywhere. Really cool thing to see. With the amount of popularity I'm seeing, I'd count on seeing a hundred or more episodes of this anime.
Oh yeah, there are SnK meets everywhere. At a con a few weeks ago there were about 30 people in SnK uniforms (Both cosplaying characters from the show and also just wearing the uniforms for fun) hanging out. It was nice to see.
I got some merchandise myself :3 I bought myself a mug with Eren and Mikasa on! I am not drinking from it, i am having it as an ornament! I also got a wall scroll! Looks pretty neat x3 http://i.imgur.com/C1Byugf.jpg
Speaking of wall scrolls, I have a DBZ one that I've had for about like... what, 10 years now? It still looks great.
I don't have any wall scrolls :/ The con I went to had about a million of them though, I think I have some pictures in my blog, just walls upon walls of em. I only bought one, it was an Aria: the Scarlet Ammo one for my brother; didn't get any for myself though, too many posters on my walls already ha.
Unfortunately, I was spoiled about future plot threads regarding the colossal and armored titans, so that's a bummer. The show's a lot of fun though, I love all of the characters, which is surprising. I'm curious about what an English dub would be like. Levi~ Connie~
