The totem quest bugged, my ***** of a wife wouldn't give me the damn quests to get my totems! I loaded before we got married and she still would only give damn animal hunting quests, after doing 10 of them in a row I gave up and reloaded to when we were blissfully wed, then I sent her packing to join the Blades! yes the game does still kick ass and all but that is a fault! what is a werewolf run through when you can't get any of the freaking totems?! Also I don't know what all the Dead Rising hate is about, I love killing Zombies with everything including the kitchen sink. It's not a great game but for some hours of mindless fun its not half bad! 1st one definitely over the 2nd, although I like the 2nd's ease of play better then rushing to get the god damned pain in the ass truth. Modern era needs more Baldur's Gate II Throne of Baal thanks!
I don't know why anyone is spending their time complaining about Skyrim while games like Aliens: Colonial Marines are still being sold in stores for $40 and are as of yet unmentioned in this thread. Here, here.
That's a really interesting point you bring up, and it does show a number of parallels. I don't personally think the industry is going to crash; that's like saying any sector is going to crash, it'd be a more unique event than a regularly scheduled piece of history. The crash of 1983 had a lot of factors in it; over-production, poorly made games, a massive amount of games sold for a few dollars each, while some companies tried to get 50 dollars from each game. Hey, maybe the industry is going to crash.
there isn't going to be a full crash for quite some time. we will see mini crashes however like the fall of music games.
I kinda wish it would crash so the it could be revitalized with new ideas and throw out the crap they're giving us today. the only quality games I've played this year is Bioshock: Infinite and The Last Of Us. The only way I could see it crash is if Microsoft and Nintendo don't get enough support and Sony become the dominant player and take advantage of their position by bringing in more DRM crap because there's no competition to try anything different.
A crash does not mean that game industry will get revitalized. It means that video games will no longer be a profitable industry and we'll get no more. Luckily, at the rate things are going we're never going to have another crash. Also, if I may recommend a few games: Rayman Legends, on the Wii U with a friend preferably. The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures, on Steam if you like a challenge. Rogue Legacy, same as above. Wonderful 101, if you have a Wii U. ZombiU, same as above. Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Pokemon XY, Luigi's Mansion for 3DS. I haven't played Tearaway on Vita, but it looks so freakin' cool. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U or 3DS (the former if you want online). The Last Story for Wii. The Stanley Parable for Steam. Then of course there is GTA V, which was quite the experience. These are just a few of the great games I played over the last year that released this year. I admit that I haven't been keeping up with a lot of PS3 and 360 games, but I think it's a shame if the only quality games you played is Bioshock: Infinite (which I didn't think was that good, but then again I think all the Bioshock games are meh) and The Last of Us (which I haven't played yet).
Thanks for the suggestions... I just bought The Stanley Parable and Dishonored in the steam sales and plan to get Tearaway and Persona 4 for the Vita. I guess I forget to mention GTA V which despite the botched multiplayer, was a brilliant game. The Wii U looks very tempting and im genuinely surprised its got all these games to back it up, Mario 3D world looks beautiful and ZombieU is a good step towards revitalizing the Horror genre.
If you like Bioshock you'll love Dishonored. I didn't like that they use the health and magic system from Bioshock but oh my God Dishonored has amazing level design. Like, some of the best. Be warned though, if you are planning a good karma run, you basically will never use a lot of the coolest mechanics. Also ZombiU scared the crap out of me. Like, genuine "I'm going to vomit" scared. Be careful though, it can be pretty hard if you play it like Resident Evil. If you get a Wii U, message me. We can be friends.
I voted for a crash with my wallet years ago, damn these companies for still making a profit! Games need more Mass Effect and Skyrimness! Dungeon Keeper rocked why isn't there a modern version of that! Also that similar one where you're the super villain making your evil volcano base and try to protect your projects from secret agents that one was cool for a little bit. I want Mass Effect Depth, Skyrim Scope, with City of Heroes Char Creator someone get on that ^_-
