Hmmm, no 1-8 I see. I'm a whovian and have seen quite a few old episodes which you sort of need to know to understand some references. Such as the first doctor (William heartnell) said "If I ever say stetsons are cool again. Shoot it off my me." Which river song did in the impossible astronought. Also the 4th doctor always offered out jellybabies which in the sound of drums the master offers to his wife. Anyway I highly recommend watching the 4th, 5th 6th and 8th doctor. Especially the episode when the 6th doctor is on trial against the time lords. To answer your question however of those 3 I'd have to go with DT as my doctor with Rory and Amy as my favourite companions.

Also may I ask why exactly you're a fan of Tennant compared to the others.

I was the one who selected Tennant. Out of the three he is my favourite, though it was close between him and Eccleston.

David frickin' Tennant. There's just something about him that says to me 'Hi there, I'm The Doctor.' rather than Matt or Christopher.

I dunno, I think it's his face. He's very memorable.

Matt Smith and David Tennant are close, but I had to go with Tennant because he had the good fortune of NOT having Moffat writing most of his episodes.

Eccleston, while an undeniably good actor, never appeared to be having as much fun with the role as he could have. It seemed like it was just a job to him.

Matt Smith because I cried when David left but after watching Matt's finale.

Clara definitely has to be the best companion, to me at least. Though short lived, she played an integral part in the last season. Most of the rest, with a slight exception to the Pond's, were just there and then gone. I guess Martha played a big part but, meh.

    Eleven and Clara 5evah!! xD

What? No love for the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th Doctors? xD Also is it weird that I'd be inclined to not vote for Tom Baker as my favorite Doctor (if he were an option) purely because I know that everybody goes on and on about how he was their favorite? Not saying I don't like Baker, he is definitely in my top 3 for the Doctors, just saying I have a natural aversion to the hype of Whovian "purists" l3

But I digress: The 2nd Doctor is wonderful, to me anyway, because of how different he is from the curmudgeon that he replaced (yep, I admit it, I really don't care for the first Doctor). The traveling clown with his silly recorder and (extremely cool) bow-tie. He's still a bit too uptight most of the time I suppose, and of course we know how hard it can be to appreciate the (horribly corny and cheaply made) early episodes. Early "Doctor Who" episodes were always well-written of course, but damn those effects x'D Everything is just too silly-looking to take seriously most of the time. This goes for basically all of the classic period of the Doctor in my humble opinion. Great story, crappy effects/alien costumes. But of course, you can't tell me you didn't love the 3rd Doctor flipping enemies around with his alien aikido, lol. I thought that was brilliantly entertaining to see all the action they were bringing to the table. And the fact that the Doctor is capable of being so hands-on with enemies (while simultaneously dressing like a sofa) is bloody brilliant

Moving on, I think we all know that Tom Baker is good. Like, really good. Like "OMG this guy's amazing!" and all that jazz. I mean that 100% unironically, I love him as the Doctor <3 (the scarf is legendary, I learned to knit purely so that I could make it) But you know who I didn't love? Numbers 5 and 6 ._. The 5th Doctor bores me.. You may enjoy him, and that's totally cool, but I watched 2 complete serials with him and just found myself waiting for it to be over.. He doesn't seem nearly as witty (or even as stern for that matter) as Baker was. Seemed like he was an audience member as well, just along for the ride. And 6, well, he's loco-in-the-coco crazy, nutty as a fruitcake, but not in the same way as #11. Smith always gives the Doctor a brilliant sense of having method behind his madness, but the 6th Doctor never really gives off that impression to me. He's not a Doctor I think I could trust.. That being said, thank heaven for Doctor #7 :D Always looking like he's exactly where he needs to be, very professional with plenty of witty charm. Also a gifted illusionist as well, which leads to some really great footage of the Doctor at work.

So yeah, I voted for Tennant ^w^ There are so many moments where I can't stop grinning while I'm watching him as the Doctor. There's just so much heart to his character, and I think he's better at being subtler with his emotions, as apposed to #11 who seems to be extremely bipolar. That being said, it's a shame that Eccleston doesn't get more love, he was pretty hard-core as the Doctor. Still, even I have to admit that Smith and Tennant are loads more fun to watch. So yeah, there's my say on the matter, lol. Hope it wasn't too lengthy for everybody here, but it's just after 5am and I always seem to be the most mentally active around this time.

Maybe I should crash for the night?

Let me be clear. I had only seen the revamp. I haven't seen the original stuff and I've only seen what's available on Netflix. I am a NEW fan. I never said I was an expert. I don't claim to be. All I know is David Tennant makes me swoon and I love the show!

That's all well and good, you have to start somewhere after all :)

Glad to hear you've enjoyed the show thus far. Like I said in my previous post, Tennant is my favorite Doctor as well l-)

Because he did away with Amy and Rory in what amounted to a massive "F*** YOU" to the fans, is constantly ignoring canon, and seems to be using the show to showcase Mary Sue-ish OCs, River and Clara.

That, and he refuses to give the Paternoster Gang their own show.

I fail to see how Clara and River are Mary Sues.

And if you want to talk about ignoring canon, that's not unique to Moffat.

Amy was nothing but a groupie, hanging all over the Doctor and ignoring her fiance/husband. She treated Rory like crap, I was fine with seeing her go. She was my least favorite companion, and that's saying something when you remember what a joy Donna can be xD

And come on, River is far from perfect, she's no Mary-Sue. Clara on the other hand.. well, she might be, but I still enjoy her too much to care

Moffat gave us the Weeping Angels. It's impossible to hate the man who gave us those terrifying beasties! Great stuff! :omg:

River Song is a great character, but I get really annoyed that Moffat decided that she needed to be the Doctor's wife.

Seriously, he traveled with Rose for two seasons, and was clearly in love with her.
Even so, he was never able to tell her how he felt, until he lost her.

Cut to River Song, who he barely knows, and now I'm supposed to believe that he is somehow even more in love with her than he was with Rose?
    Not likely.

As for Clara, I liked her well enough until the finale, when I found out that the whole reason she exists is to save the Doctor.
Not just once, but thousands of times. Throughout his entire timeline. Because reasons.

River was going to be the Doctor's wife from the very first episode she showed up, so it's not like it came out of nowhere.

Also, this pretty perfectly explains my stance on River.

What I like about the show is that it's like a fairy tale.

Gosh who could choose a favourite episode.

I'm likeing what they are doing with claira.

Who is my favourite doctor? There is only one doctor, and he is wonderful. I love all of him.
