K, so this is the General Anime Thread. I know I'm not the only one here who enjoys watching anime, and I also noticed a suspicious lack of anime related threads, so I decided to make this. Basically, you can use this thread to discuss anything related to anime. Talk about different shows, debate subs vs. dubs, get recommends for new shows, whatever. There is only one rule that applies specifically to this thread. If you're discussing a particular show in-depth, please use spoiler tags for any text that contains significant plot twists, character developments, show endings, etc. Pretty much anything that would ruin a show for someone who hasn't seen it yet, aka spoilers. It isn't necessary to spoiler tag an entire post just because one paragraph contains spoilers either, just hide the sections you need to. Knock yourselves out. :derpe:
I'm watching rosario + vampire right now, thanks to a comment left on one of my pictures. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I just read the new chapter of Naruto that came out today. It was informative and amazing. I sure hope they release chapter 598 on Wednesday too since that's the normal release day, though I don't think they will.
Watching full metal alchemist brother hood right now, but Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will remain the best of all animes in my heart.
I've been a Dragon Ball Z fan since 2002, I only like original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT. I'm also a big fan of Naruto Shippuden and original Naruto. Plus I also really like Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Bakugan New Vestroia, Bakugan Gundalian Invaders and Bakugan Mechtanium Surge.
I like when fights have strong meanings, which is why I enjoy Naruto so much. I used to love DragonBall Z and will ocassionally flip it on every now and then, but most of the fights are just some random super being that loves to kill and needs to BE killed. The one fight throughout the series that had strong meaning to it was Frieza vs Goku. I did however enjoy the Cell saga the most when I was a kid and would still vote that being the best of all. The thing I didn't like about GT was Pan. I found her to be extremely annoying. The evil Shenron episodes were a bit out of taste IMO too.
I hate Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, One Piece and any other popular anime like that. Why? Because: 1. Hundreds of episodes. 2. Always not the genre I like.
So what's everyone's favorite genres? I'm preferential to the romance and comedy genres myself, and anything with a supernatural theme usually strikes my interest, like HoTD, Soul Eater, Is This A Zombie, Angel Beats, etc.
I like shows with epic battles between good and evil which is why I like the entire Dragon Ball series including Kai, both shows from Naruto series, Yu Yu Hakusho, Sailor Moon and the entire Bakugan series. I used to like Bleach, Pokemon and Digimon and the entire Yu-gi-oh! series but I don't like or watch them anymore.
The only thing I don't like about Naruto is how many flashbacks there are. They will play the same flashbacks multiple times in one fight and even have a flashback from an earlier moment in the fight. I do like when they introduce something new about a character I was curious about. The last fight I can recall like this was Hanzou vs. Mifune.
Favourite genre: Comedy, Slice of Life, School, Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy. I hate Romance and want it to be banished from the face of the earth.
A bit extreme ha but to each his own. I just finished Korewa Zombie Desuka, now watching Eureka Seven: AO. It's a bit confusing, but then again the first one was also kinda confusing, especially towards the end. Still awesome though. By the by, I recently finished compiling a list of all the anime I have watched to date... Spoiler: list ~Anime I want to see: Gunslinger Girl Eureka Seven: Pocketful of Rainbows Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean Deadman Wonderland Samurai Girls Control Fractale Air Gear Shuffle Ga-Rei-Zero InuXBoku SS Interlude Xam'D ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Anime I have already seen: High School of the Dead Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts Soul Eater Is this a Zombie? : Korewa Zombie Desuka? Mysterious Girlfriend X B Gata H Kei Aria: The Scarlet Ammo Sora No Otoshimono Chobits Desert Punk D. Gray Man Okamisan Naruto (unfinished) Bleach (unfinished) Kekkaishi (unfinished) Sekirei (s1 finished only) Blue Exorcist Fruits Basket (unfinished) Samurai Champloo (unfinished) FLCL Toradora! Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom Chrome Shelled Regios Waiting in the Summer Eureka Seven Inuyasha (unfinished) Blood+ (unfinished) One Piece (unfinished) Gurren Lagann (unfinished) Full Metal Alchemist (unfinished) My Bride is a Mermaid (unfinished) Ouran High School Host Club (unfinished) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (unfinished) Kimikiss: Pure Rouge (unfinished) Strawberry 100% (unfinished) Samurai 7 Elfen Lied (unfinished) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Anime I own on DVD: Angel Beats Kaze No Stigma Trigun Witchblade Claymore RIN Infinite Stratos Girls Bravo Trinity Blood Full Metal Panic Full Metal Panic: Fumofuu Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid Gantz The list doesn't include everything I've seen, I left off any that I've only seen a few random episodes of, like Gurren Lagann, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Gensis Evangelion, Code Geass, etc. There are also a few that I probably just forgot about. I've also seen quite a few eps of Pokemon, Digimon and YuGiOh but that was back when I was younger and I consider them to be more cartoons than anime. Oh, and on an interesting sidenote, I made onigiri today (japanese rice balls), traditional style, with flaked salmon filling and nori seaweed wrap in an appealing triangle shape. They were quite good. :derpe:
Oh hey, an anime discussion. Some of the anime I've recently finished are Fate/Stay Night, Fate Zero, Blue Submarine No. 6, Beck, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. The ones I'm keeping track of as they come out for now are Shirokuma Cafe (Polar Bear's Cafe), Sword Art Online, and Jinrui wa Suitai Shima****a. I'm also currently watching through Dog Days. On DVD I own Cyber City Oedo 808, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, and Gun X Sword.
The Naruto manga has been really slow lately. We've seen 1 chapter in almost 3 weeks. They creators sure do love taking breaks. At least the new episode came out today.
Naruto/Shippuden, Wolf's Rain, Death Note, Darker than black, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Code Geass, Hellsing, I can go on...My favorite is Naruto because its been with me since I was little, and its grown up with me to stay with me, and escalated to a series that shows true emotion that I find very uplifting in a sentimental way. The conception of tragedy and love in it, exposes itself to me more than just all the fighting.
Very true. I'm seriously thinking about continuing Naruto once I finish watching FMA, another series I started watching when it was on [as] and never finished. So has anyone seen or really wants to see Deadman Wonderland? I haven't seen it but I've heard great things and I'm totally psyched to buy the uncensored version once it comes out onto DVD.
Heyo, it's me. I've been binging on anime for a good six months now, finished the first season of Strike Witches yesterday. Planning on getting through Madoka Magica next Not much interest in the shonen stuff though, FMA and Naruto. Just doesn't appeal to me. And hey, thought I'd share this: Gonn get a stack of those and maybe give some out at MCM in London this year
guys, I am disappoint. nah but seriously forget your current anime and give Monster a watch. I'm not stating that its way better then what you have watched so far but then again you may reconsider after you see it.
