A few days ago I got the idea to combine my two favorite things.......power rings and ponies. Now I have a general story thought out but i'd like so help with character choices. There may be(might change)tragedy,death,shipping,combat,Pictures to go along with chapters. Twilight sparkle- shes going to be a blue lantern which controls the emotion of hope. I think of the mane 6 she would be the best to receive that ring. Rarity- Shes going to be a Indigo lantern. The indigo lanterns have the emotion of compassion. In episode 2 she cut off her tail,To me that is a form of compassion and that being about the only for sure choice so far. Fluttershy- She is going to be a star sapphire(violet lantern) which has the emotion of love. Cause she loves all animals. so that is easy. Pinkie Pie-Easy green lantern, she has the ability to overcome great fear.(Green lantern rings are powered by willpower) Applejack and Rainbow Dash- I'm not really sure what to make them. I mean they could be green also but i really don't want 3 green rings. Both of them could over come great fear and would be full of willpower Nightmare Moon- she would a yellow lantern(Fear). I think she'd be the only character to be able to instill great fear in others. Trixie- Maybe red lantern(Rage). Shes full of rage from Twilight embarrassing her. Not really sure on this one. Diamond Dog- Orange lantern(greed). They want want all the jewels. So I think it fits pretty well. There can only be one orange lantern though, so only one diamond dog would get the ring. Possible appearance by Wonderbolts, Shadowbolts and CMC(not sure about them though) Questions I would liked answered. 1) What do you think of each characters ring, Do they fit right? 2) What do you feel about shipping, death and all that? 3) Could you guys suggest any other characters for different rings? 4) What do you think of the overall idea? 5) What ring Should AJ and Dashie have? 6) Would anypony like to possibly read the rough drafts when I get them wrote up? First of all, the Hope ring seems like something AJ would have, not Twi. It still fits (to me at least), and also creates a plot possibility of Twi studying the rings, and obsessing over preventing their use, seeing them as 'unknown'. Also, the red ring should go to NM, who is consumed with rage at her sister, as well as jealousy. For extra plot goodies, have Luna steal the red ring from Celestia, who hid it from her for this very reason, or have her get attacked by a red lanter OC, or otherwise make her get the ring withinthe story line. There only needs to be ONE diamond dog. The DD leader found said ring, killed the rest of his tribe, made the constructs, ???, profit! Celestia > White Ring. Nuff said. The yellow and black rings would have to go to OCs, or to some character I have yet to remember. You may have noticed that Twi and RD have no rings, but this can create significant amounts of plot, or you can make Friendship rings or other custom power things. Sadly, whenever I write it ends up sad/grim (even as I imagine where the plot of this could go), but whatever works untill you have clopfic status. If you want, I can post random ideas as to the plot. (DISCLAIMER: IT MAY/WILL INVOLVE PEOPLE DIEING, GOING INSANE, CUSTOM OCs, AND/OR THINGS I MAKE UP ON THE SPOT)

Twilight would get the blue ring cause I don't want tons of green lanterns in the story and seems the most hopeful of the bunch to me.. So i guess AJ and Twilight are getting blue rings. Having Twilight research them sounds good i may use that if you don't mind. I still think Nightmare should be yellow, shes the only one that i can think of that could instill great fear. Trixie being the egomaniac would fit for the rage part because of twilight. Also hope can quell rage. The rings choose who wields them so i'm having the rings come from space to choose the ponies. All the ponies would have a story on how the rings would find them, kinda like the cutie mark Rainbow Dash story. I never thought about customs rings or having a Twi and Dash not receive one. I already have ideas for the black and white rings but those are secrets and also if they come into play a plan for Fluttershy. The diamond dog that would receive to ring is rover the leader or so that's what i heard his name was. I don't want to use any OCs so they are out of the question. I have a general story thought out about how to make it happy,sad and anywhere in between. Well, when you get to finishing it, I'll end up having to read it (if you post it here) so I have no opinions of reading it now or later =P As for the ideas, keep then if you want. I don't plan on writing a fic on Power Rings, or in general for that matter, for quite a bit. And I'll probably have some ideas by that time and forget them several times over. So do whatever you want! You're you after all, not me.

I thought this too, but beyond the Winter Wrap-up, there really isn't much to satisfy the 'holding great hope' requirement. While there is nothing to say that she would be exempt from them, I see nothing that says she truly meets its requirements, either....And I say this with a Twilight GL avatar. Oy. True, but the Indigo Tribe's recruitment policy is a bit iffy. It's really hard to pin down when they'll recruit someone. I must object here. Isn't the recruitment for a Star Sapphire based mainly upon heartache, with great love as a secondary? In fact, while I know this shall get me a more than a few funny looks, I think Fluttershy is best suited for the Sinestro Corps. She brought a full-grown dragon to tears with that stare of hers, countered and subdued a cockatrice with it, and brought sheer panic to the GGG. I must insist that she would be a Sinestro. Indeed. Rainbow Dash, is, unfortunately, completely ineligible for the Green Lanterns. Her nervous breakdown in 'Sonic Rainboom' is evidence enough of that. Applejack, however, is undefinable. She presents signs of being able to join a corps, yet falling just short of being absolutely certain of being able to join one. This depends on what Nightmare Moon is. Is it something that occurred within Luna, and is part of Luna? Or is it some external entity that corrupted and possessed her in a time of weakness? If the latter, then Nightmare Moon is more of an entity like Parallax, and therefore could not be recruited on its own. It would need a host. If the former, wouldn't it make more sense for Luna, despite not being Nightmare Moon anymore, to be recruited instead? Indeed. Trixie does, indeed, apply. But wouldn't she need to act upon her rage first in order to be recruited? There can only be one Orange Lantern. Larfleeze will refuse to share it. Unless this is self contained and Larfleeze is nowhere in sight, I don't that happening. Answered. Shipping? Meh. Death? Maye, as long as it's portrayed right. Answered. An interesting idea. She was the only one who did not shrink away in fear, and just laughed at those trees (and, considering that she got the others to start laughing at them too, also technically qualifies her for a Blue Lantern ring) and moved on. Alright, then. Makes sense. It's logical that she'd be pretty pissed at Twilight. Oh, good. That'll be nice. Oh, alright, then. I'd suggest making it dramatic. That always gives it its due respect. Yay! Technically, it's kind of like rock-paper-scissors, in a way. Though I do think it's just very complicated. I honestly don't think that there is any ring that's more powerful than the rest, unless you're counting the Black and White rings. Ooh, I hope you use a Black ring! The ring just solely run off emotion, having lanterns fall from the sky seemed weird to me. Excellent use of knowledge, but I still have to deny Pinkie a ring.(for now) I have a bunch of different death scenarios in my head, just have to decide what is best. Blue rings have a lot of power though. There will be a black ring, but the plans are secret for that one. Thanks for digging this thread up and taking time to post in it.
True, but I think how that works is that the rings flit through space towards whoever they are planning to recruit, and the lantern just follows it. Understandable. Pick the most dramatic! PICK IT! PICK IT PICK IT PICK IT! True, Blue rings are powerful. I'm not even entirely sure they have any weaknesses beyond the 24-hour limit. Then again, a lot of my knowledge is based on the Silver Age stuff with a rather large smattering of New Earth related knowledge, so I'm not sure. Thank you for taking the time to thank me.
