We've all been there. When we were younger, we had a level that no matter how hard we tried, we just kept dying on, and then we got so frustrated, we quit. Well, what was yours? Mine was Allegro Presto in the first Rayman game.
To many to list. I can't remember all of them either. The one I do remember is Giant Ursula from original KH1 on PS2. Which I got past on the PS3 1.5 HD Remix version.
I never did manage to beat the original Super Mario Bros game. One of these days I'll have to try again.
Demyx. Screw Demyx. My sister and I traded off the controller over and over in the course of weeks and we only took him down by sheer luck. That was the cheesiest fight ever. Why did we choose hard mode the first time around...
A game I never beat completely as a kid, and as an adult is Lemmings I could beat the 'Novice/Tame' levels and the tricky ones, but beyond that I was either too lazy for a really long grinding level, or couldn't beat it anyway. I've never beat Zelda, once. The original one on NES. I beat the first dungeon and then get my butt kicked because I've no idea where to go or what I'm doing. But God, that overtune theme is awesome. Chrono Trigger is another game I never finished. The Metallic/Post Apocolypse area always put me off :/ Could never work out how to do this level properly. It props up and asks for a 70% save rate, but then resurfaces with the same nasty traps and walls you can't break and asks for 100% which seems impossible. While we're on the subject of Mario, anyone else think 8-3 has to be beaten by luck rather than skill? Unless your one of those crazy speed runers that just own everything.
I remember playing Midtown Madness 3 and never being able to pass a handful of missions as a kid, outside of that I don't remember much
There was that Boo boss fight in Luigi's Mansion. I couldn't get past him because of how frantic the level was, but I eventually managed to do it from luck.
Honestly, I was better when I was younger. I never could beat Sonic Adventures 2. Now that I'm older, I can't even beat Super Mario Bros 3. It's like modern gaming has stripped away all of my timing skills. Games nowadays you don't have to be completely on-point to beat. That Mario though ... all it took was one hit. I can still, surprisingly, get through star road on Super Mario World. I didn't lose all the magic~ I suppose I was a kid at the time so this counts. I never could get past disc 3 of Legend of the Dragoons. Now when I play it's so easy it hurts. Timings still off for those combos but I'm patient enough to grind to where it doesn't matter. -Nights
I forgot to mention pretty much EVERYTHING in Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past!! Once I got Zelda out of the castle dungeon I was pretty much stuck. I had a hard time following the directions the NPCs gave so I wasn't all that game-savvy as a kid.
Oh, yeah Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion was a game that I couldn't seem to pass as a kid, the final mission seemed impossible to pass. Spoiler: Turok 3 Shadow of Oblivion
Now that I know that this thread used to be a thing, I may as well offer my own two cents. I never really had much of a problem with Super Mario Bros. (seriously, I could consistently beat that game by the time I was 4). We had a fair number of platformers, but the bulk of the games we had for the NES back then were sports-related. Double Dribble, 10 Yard Fight, RBI Baseball and such. I never beat Metroid as a kid, though. I was never able to reach Kraid or Ridley, or anything like that; both hideouts scared me back then. I think I was able to locate the Wave Beam, but don't quote me on that. Neither was I able to beat The Goonies II, as I could never locate everyone, never mind reach the general area where Annie was located. Wasn't for a lack of effort, either. In the end, I had to watch one of my older siblings and one of his friends beat both games. There was another game that I couldn't get through, but it was less because I couldn't beat it (I probably could have, given time) and more because I was afraid to try: Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. I tried it all of once, and I was frightened off by Glass Joe of all people. Seriously: when he first appeared and raised a fist into the air, I said to myself something like "What am I even doing?" and quickly turned off the console. ()^_^ Again, this was another game where my brother and his friend were the ones to beat it instead of me.
I remember playing Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker back in 2012, and I couldn't get past the final dungeon at Ganondorf's Castle.
