    10-SOLO

It's astounding how a Star Wars movie can fail so miserably. This was one of the most creative and unique movie franchises, but apart of one or two scenes, this movie doesn't live up to its legacy. None of the actors are charming or interesting (with the exception of Donald Glover, he's easily the best thing about the movie), the movie does NOTHING what you'd expect a Han Solo origin movie to do, and the Empire is reduced to a bunch of incompetent clowns. Disney just fails to write the Empire (or the First Order, for that matter) menacingly. They can write Darth Vader right, but the rest of the Empire lacks the menace and competence it had in the Original Trilogy.

    9-JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM

The problem with this movie is that is tried to do too much without accomplishing any of it. Writing a "Jurassic Park" movie should be easy: people go to the island, people get eaten by dinosaurs, the T-Rex does something cool. But for some reason this movie tries a bunch of different ideas that don't belong in a "Jurassic Park" movie, and none of them work.

    8-PACIFIC RIM: OUTRISING

And here's another awful giant monster movie. Again, this should be an easy movie to write: giant monsters attack, giant robots fight therm. But this movies tries so many different ideas thast don't work, to the point that we don't get a "Kaiju VS Jaeger" fight until the very end of the movie. Also, Mako Mori, the female protagonist of the first movie, dies in this one. It's never a good sign when a sequel kills the lead character from the first movie.

    7-NIGHT SCHOOL

This movie was just unfunny. Granted, it was nowhere near as unfunny as the numbers 1 and 2 on this list, but it was still unfunny. Kevin Hart wasn't funny, Melissa McCarthy wasn't funny. The writing wasn't funny. It's the bottom of the barrel of comedy, and it's a chore to sit through. The only good thing about this movie is that it wasn't too long.

    6-SHOW DOGS

Why do they keep making these "talking animal comedy" movies? None of them work or are funny, and this movie is no exception. Don't get me wrong, these kind of movies worked in the 80s and 90s, but noawadays, they just don't. It's one of those "let's talk down to kids because we think they are stupid" movies. Except they aren't, and they deserve far, far better than this movie.

    5-TOMB RAIDER

This was simply too dark and depressing. "Tomb Raider" should be a fun adventure, travelling to exotic locales, finding lost treasure, fighting villains. But this movie is afraid too do anythiung remotely fun. "Death is not an adventure"...why is that phrase in a "Tomb Raider" movie? And yes, I know the games themselves got darker, but that's a problem with the games as well.

    4-MISSION IMPOSSSIBLE: FALLOUT

This...was just more of the same. "Rogue Nation" was a very lousy movie, and this movie doesnb't really change anything from that. It's hard to figure out who's the villain and who's the hero, the plot is too complicated to follow, and for a "Mission Impossible" movie, there's a lack of any real team effort, or any scheme that isn't needleslly complicated.

    3-SLENDER MAN

Why was this movie made? No one cares about Slender Man anymore. I barely cared about him in the first place. And for the few people who still care about Slender Man, this movie gets almost everything wrong about the character. And beyond the fact this is Slender Man, the movie is your typical "ghost/demon/demonic ghost/ghostly demon" movie, which are a dime a dozen these days and none are scary or interesting.

2-TEEN TITANS GO TO THE MOVIES

If it wasn't for "Bañeros 3", this would have gotten the number 1 spot. There's a complete lack of effort in anything: not in making a good superhero movie, not in making a good comedy movie, not in making anything that does the Teen Titans justice. It's a bunch of toilet humor and in-jokes tied together by the most paper-thin plot possible. Not one of the characters in this movie is likable or interesting, so it's really just like the show, and that's not a good thing at all.

    1-BAÑEROS 3

This...is the worst movie of the year. It's the movie with the least amount of effort put it, even less than "Teen Tiutans Go to the Movies". The humor is both immature and horribly unfunny, the writing is awful, none of the actors can elevate the writing to something watchable, and Gino Renni is far too senile to save this movie.

    BEST:

    10-INCREDIBLES 2

This was a really fun movie. It's nice to see a superhero movie that isn't Marvel or DC or X-Men that can still deliver a solid movie full of exciting fight scenes and great character development.

    9-ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

This movie was silly, goofy and campy, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Unlike with "Spider-Man: Homecoming", the comedy worked for it instead of against it, meaning Ant-Man and Wasp still came across as very competent characters (as opposed to how incompetent Spider-Man came across in "Homecoming"). Granted it does get darker in the post-credits scene, but that's a result of being part of the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe.

    8-SKYSCRAPER

This movie just a great action movie, hearkening back to the great action movies of the 80s. The Rock is great as the lead, and the setting allows for very creative action scenes. Really, very few movies can do wrong with the Rock's charisma.

    7-DEADPOOL 2

This was a fun superhero movie, a wonderful breath of fresh air after how emotionally-taxing "Infinity War" was, and a movie that finally gets Deadpool right. I like the fact that Deadpool is trying to reason with Russell Collins and redeem him, it goes to show that he's still a nice guy even if he is crazy. It's that heart of gold Deadpool has in the comics that I felt the first movie didn't show.

    6-JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN

This was a fun spy movie. I like the fact that "Kingsman" pulled us out of the Bourne zeitgeist and we are back to the Connery-Moore formula when it comes to spy movies. I also like thast they brought Bough back, since I really missed him in the first movie.

    5-THE MEG

This was a fun giant monster movie. Jason Statham is great as the lead, and it manages to mix the fear of "Jaws" with the badass action of the Showa Godzilla movies.

    4-RAMPAGE

This was another great giant monster movie, having giant monsters fighting each other like (again) the best of the Showa Godzilla movies. It's also a great videogame movie, which is quite an acvhievement given how videogame movies tend to suck. And as I said before, The Rock and his charisma can do no wrong.

    3-AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

This was an excellent superhero movie. It has all the heroes in the MCU (all the movie heroes, at least) teaming up in a spectacular battle. It has a great villain in Thanos, who is a deep character while still coming across as malevolent and sinister. And althought the end is so sad it feels like a punch to the gut, it leaves you wanting more, wanting to see the heroes overcome this great evil and save the universe.

    2-ALPHA

This was a great movie, showing a close bond between man and animal in a wonderful way. The relationship between the main character and the wolfd is both charming and well-written, and you really end up wanting them to overcome all the hardships that come their way.

    1-BLACK PANTHER

This was a great superhero movie. It has good action, great writing and a great villain. But what makes this the best movie of the year is the message. This is a very deep movie, that raises complex issue, but its message is one of hope, one of overcopming all the adversities life has to offer and to become a better person that those who bully us or discriminate us. And I feel this message isn't just for black people, it resonate with every one of us. It's about not letting whatever hardships we have endure bring us down. For that, this movie is the best movie of 2018.
