Last night, I saw the sci-fi boxing movie "Real Steel". A movie about former boxer reconnecting with his estrange son through robot boxing. I think it's a fun, well-made movie. Is it a great movie? No, but it's not a movie you'll get bored while watching either. What I like about it is that it doesn't make the CGI robots do all the work of entertaining and pulling-in the audience. Even though the fighting robots are cool, and most of the time look like they're really there, you also enjoy and really feel for the characters Huge and Dakota plays. The movie isn't just about watching robots beating each other up, it's also about a former boxer reconnecting with his estrange son and they do it in a fun way, and without a bunch of force-fed tear-jerker moments. I really like the job the young actor Dakota Goyo did as the boxer's son. Instead of making the kid a weak tear-jerking brat, they made Dajota's character a strong kid that can handle himself, isn't afraid to stand up to the big business people, and is also smarter than his father at the beginning of the movie. So if you like action-packed-boxing movies, robot movies, and father/son movies that aren't all about tear-jerking moments, I highly suggest you go see this movie. Ok, anybody else seen the movie yet?
