For those of you that frequent Equestria Daily, you are already aware of this, but I don't comment on EqD. Besides, I think you guys are more awesome anyway. What are your thoughts on this? Here's a longer version: I know it isn't much, but I still think it's SOOOOOOOO AWESOME that Stephen Colbert even uttered the word "brony." I've been a fan of the Colbert Report, or as EqD calls it, "Coltbert Report," since it debuted in 2005. Some people speculate that he may be a brony because he happend to say "MY bronies" instead of "THE bronies," but I think that's reading into it too much, plus Stephen is a comedian, so he could be just messing around, but I don't care. It's Stephen Colbert we're talking about here. I wonder how many people googled the word "brony" after his show. Now we need to get Jon Stewart in on this, STAT! What Stephen did after he shouted out to us was weird though. He looked like he was imitating riding a horse/pony or something, which isn't an accurate representation of the fandom, but I don't care. He's Stephen, so I can forgive him, lol. It'd be nice if in a future episode he'd talk more about us, and hopefully with accurate information, but with him you can't be sure. He can swing either way with something like this, I'm sure. I generated an image for such an occasion, because I think it's just so appropriate: Confused? The character above is Phil Ken Sebben, a character voiced by Stephen Colbert in Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law on [Adult Swim]. This particular image references his line, "HA HA! Bicurious." So... any thoughts?
I'm not sure if he was entirely sincere, him being a comedian and all. Still, at least he didn't directly attack like other less reputable news sources (did I just call Colbert a news source?!), and as you said I'm sure more people wondered what he meant and have looked into the whole brony thing.
Funny you should mention this. I normally don't watch the news. It's too depressing at times, so most of the "news" I get is from either The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. To be honest, I trust them more with news than other organizations *cough* Fox News *cough*.
I'll have you know, Fox news is a reliable, trustworthy, and completely unbiased news sour- Oh, who am I kidding, I can't even make a joke about it. They're that bad. Anyways, at least it was positive publicity for the brony community, it can only do us good. Besides, there is the slight chance he was being serious. Haha... Fox News...
Colbert is more of a news source then fox. I like the fact he mentioned bronies but I think he just did it like a joke. The riding the white brony joke, I think he just did it for the lulz.
I saw this earlier being posted by Lauren Faust on Deviantart. Awesome, i must say, and obviously it must have a lot of influence on the media since Lauren posted it. Cool. Anyways, I don't watch him, but seeing that Lauren Faust addressed this on her Deviantart (That is non-pony-related) he must be famous... Or funny... Or rich. Or famous and funny... Or funny, famous and rich. Or rich and famous... Or rich and funny. Or, awesome, rich, funny, famous and a brony.
Oh yeah! That's true! -> http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/journal/42845844/ Stephen Colbert is definitely famous, funny, and I'm pretty sure he's rich. As for being a brony? Hmmm... Not sure yet. I hope he is though.
Whoa. Looks like I missed that on EqD yesterday! That's absolutely amazing. I am so proud of this fandom that I don't really know what to say. Also worth noting, Lauren Faust's reaction [on dA] is quite amusing.
Clever!!! Before long, even soap operas will have US in the syllabus! Although it'll be a bit confusing for the older folk.
Want to know something funny? One of the few times I leave it on so it comes up, I saw this. You do not know how BA I felt then.
