I would like to introduce a thread to help with OC/semi-OC/OoC developement, so we have a place to flesh out characters until staff make an actual subsection or I write a useful guide with tips to undergo the overpowering effect and some other things, whichever comes first.

I'll explain a couple of acronyms first to avoid some confusions:

OoC - Out of Character: It means you're doing your own vision of said character. Like, doing a delicate girl more tomboyish, an intelligent guy less intelligent (or more), and so on.
Example in My Little Pony: In romance fiction, Rainbow Dash is usually put as a caring and trusting (almost perfect?) character by many writers, when in fact she's rather immature to many kinds of relationships, especially romantic ones. She's often put as a romantic heroine, when she'd never leave her friends for a stallion she loves. I think.

Semi-OC - a half original character: It's when you adapt a character from wherever in another context, but don't put your finger in anything, except for what it has to - FiM is a great example. Semi-OC concept leaves pretty much the character intact, at least their personality and dislikes.
Example in My Little Pony: Easy one: the mane cast as humans, there are plenty of those. I hope you just understood now. OR, if you're putting Harry Potter characters as ponies - read well: as ponies or as humans, not transformed into. If you're transforming characters into ponies/humans or inserting them clearly in a context (ex: "humans in Equestria"), then you're making a crossover. There's a huge difference.

OC - Original Character: it sounds rather stupid for me to put something that everyone knows, but some people might consider their OCs as ponies as semi-OCs, but let's just remember that if the character is entirely created by you, regardless how, it's still an OC.
Example in My Little Pony: Do we need, really?

Semi-OoC: It's basically when you merely use a character's name or identity.
Example in My Little Pony: Whenever the human version of the mane cast gets too different from what they were originally (Applejack as Apple Jackie becoming a Lady GaGa stereotype, for example). Or Tara Dusk (my version of Twilight) in a band, I guess. tough I already made her play soccer as a midfielder

    So... Well, let's begin.

Peeps, here we go: I have this colt here, who has five yearlings. But out of the yearlings, I've only got one of them actually done. Their names are (in order of birth):

    Bookmark (the eldest, male)
    RosePetal (WIP, female)
    JokeMage (an older twin, male)
    LunarBlade (a younger twin, male)
    MoonCrystal (the youngest, complete)

Could you help me with the others? The only limitation is that they're all unicorns.

Thank you, everypony. It's always good to see my threads help.

Now, I have RosePetal's profile, which is incomplete. Could you help me flesh her out?

I hope I am not stealing a thread. If I am I apologize.

Now that my first fanfic is hot off the presses and my creative juices are flowing - I am ready to start doing something more substantial. In a previous thread I fleshed out the idea of creating a blind pony. Since the show would never do such a bold thing (especially after Derpy-Gate) I want to create an OC.

I am partly basing my OC after myself, but not completely so I can better fit him into the Pony Universe. My OC is a unicorn. He was born completely blind. There were other complications and the baby unicorn was given only weeks to live. His parents named him "Miracle."

In the early stages of his life, Miracle has overcome severe obstacles like pneumonia and heart failure. After living several "normal" years,His latest adversity is even tougher. Miracle's parents were killed during the Changeling War in Canterlot (during the events of the Wedding two-parter).

My previous story ends with Princess Celestia presenting a Birthday gift to Pinkie Pie...and cleaning up the mess.

As my next story begins, the Princess reveals another reason for her visit. Miracle has been living at the castle since the events of the wedding and the Princesses are unsure how to move forward in caring for him. She has decided to ask Twilight to train him in magic to better his life and to eventually find out what his special talent is. The Princesses have a feeling whatever it is will help Equestria one day.

Miracle is about the same age as the Cutie Mark Crusaders (and doesn't have his cutie mark either). I see him to be grey with blond hair in an Elvis style mane (a nod to the overused trope of the blind musician). I am trying to avoid too many stereotypes. I want to try to extend the idea of acceptance and further the idea that no matter what obstacles placed in your way to not let anyone tell you you can't do what your heart is set on.

    What do you think?
