Hello, Everypony. As most of you know, I'm Rolf. What most of you don't know is that I've written my fair share of fanfics back in the day. Unluckily for you guys, it's in the horror section. This fiction is about Brother Vision, an Ace Detective who must delve into the Supernatural horrors of the murders he solved years ago, the murder of a family that was on vacation from a distant country. He thought the killer went away, but what happens after he realizes he was wrong only leads to suffering among the many different ponies, pegasi, and unicorns of Equestria. Can Vision stop these events from happening? Or will this prescence destroy all living things in Equestria? WARNING: Contains graphic content that may be disturbing for some ponies. If you do not like descriptions of murders and/or brutal circumstances, please leave now. (Edited to be appropriate according to the rules. Certain situations have been changed to where they are less graphic than the original copy.) The first few chapters are backstory. I highly recommend you read the first bits before you read the actual story; when the backstory ends, the horror starts to begin. I'm using OC ponies here. There are no Mane Six involved. Except Fluttershy. Yes, there will be Fluttershy. ~Yay. So if you're looking for anything involving Pinkie Pie (You know what I mean.) you're looking on the wrong site. Feel free to comment on how it's going. This is a WIP. Let's get started. Chapter 1: The First Plink. A silent pony, with no family, no friends, and no home, suddenly went missing on February 9th, 1975. Police Forces from all over Equestria were trying to locate him, but to no avail. Suddenly, 5 days later, his body is found in a dark alleyway in Ponyville, brutally strangled. This is a recollection of that day. "Brother! Get over here!" Police Chief Sprinkles commanded. Sprinkles was an old unicorn, with a very cranky attitude. Not liked by most, but respected by all, he has served the Equestrian Homicide Unit for 3 decades. His fading gray mane flickered in the wind, and his E.H.U. hat was practically falling every second. His back left leg was artificial, as he lost it during the Great War of the Dragons. Brother Vision slowly trotted his way there. Vision was a relatively young pegasus, being only 26, but he's solved more cases than most homicide detectives would in 3 months than most would in 3 years. His dark red skin practically glowed with an abundance of joy, and his red and black mane tossed in the wind. His Fedora was secured tightly to his head by one of his hooves. It was especially windy that day. "What is it sir?" "Looks like we have a stiff. Coroner is on his way, and we need you to investigate the premises. If you find anything suspicious, tell Cave, got it?" "Got it sir. What should I do should we have a suspect?" "Let me know. You know the drill. Check his alibi, and all of that jazz." "Understood." "Good. Now, get to work. I'll be at the station signing papers for an eternity." The old unicorn slowly trotted away to the station, his artificial leg obvious in the cold, windy day. Brother took this oppurtunity to examine the body. He felt himself get that feeling again, the urge to throw up. He always hated seeing someone dead in Ponyville, whether they were murdered or passed naturally. He was the queasy type back in his youth. Vision looked closely at the victim's neck. An obvious wire mark permanently embedded into the skin seemed to stare back at him. Vision was fairly sure that a piece of wire from a fence did this. There was a foul smell in the air about him though. It didn't smell like a rotten body... it smelled more like daisies. What was strange to Vision was that the victim looked at peace, as if he didn't even put up a struggle. He checked the pony's hooves. There were no traces of skin, or anything that would indicate it was a fight that went bad. Suddenly, a large van pulled up at the crime scene, labelled "Equestrian Homicide Unit Coroner". "Great, Heines is here... perfect timing." Vision whispered to himself. Out of the van stepped Heine, or as the squad called her, "Bone". Her nickname fit her well; she was extremely thin, with white skin and a white mane, in fact, everything about her was white, except for her eyes. Her eyes were a vibrant blue, it was like looking at the sky. "This the guy?" She asked, quietly. "Yeah. Name is Plink. Sad, I knew the kid. He was such a good one too." Vision said. "Well, when you're finished, let me know. I'll examine him when I get back to the lab." "Will do, Heine." Heine was a childhood friend of Vision's. From the day they were but fillies without cutie marks, they were friends ever since they met. While they have different jobs, they work extremely well together. Some even assume that they were an object, but all of that is quickly discarded when they sense that Heines is a really dark person, compared to Vision, who was extremely outgoing and kind. Vision went back to the victim. He turned him around, and oddly enough, there was a piece of paper in his pocket. In his handwriting, it wrote, Gone to meet Pale Horse for lunch. 4435 Central Avenue. She seemed kind of disturbed on the phone, though. Better ask what's going on. Vision wrote down the address and flipped the body back over. There was nothing left to find. "Heine, I'm finished here. I've got a lead, after I'm finished I'll check in with what you got." "Alright, Vision. Be careful out there." Heine got the stretcher out, put Plink onto it, and drove off without another word. Chapter 2: The Lead Vision went to the address mentioned on the note. It was a large house, with the mailbox reading "Home of Pale Horse". Vision knocked on the door. In anticipation, he twiddled his hooves. He wanted to get the truth. He could only hope this one would cooperate. The locks shifted, and a pony with yellow skin and light blue mane opened the door. "Yes?" The pony asked nervously. "Ma'am, are you Pale Horse?" "Yes. That's me." "May I come in? I have some questions I need to ask you about Plink." "Did you find him?" Her mood seemed to brighten up. Vision would hate putting her mood even worse than before. "Yes... we found him. But--" "Oh yes! I'm so happy! Me and him can finally be together again... I missed him, even if he was only gone for 5 days..." "Ma'am, I--" "Oh please, do come in! Please tell me everything you know!" The ecstatic pony grabbed Vision and pulled him into the house. He was astounded by how big it was: it seemed to have 4 stairways, and about 6 rooms on the bottom floor alone. Pale Horse dragged Brother Vision to the Kitchen, and sat down. Vision did the same. "So tell me everything about it! Where is he? I want to see him!" "Ma'am. Listen to me. Plink..." Vision hesitated. He didn't want to ruin Pale's mood. But he had no choice. "...Plink is dead. We found his body in an alleyway, not too far from here." "...What? Is this a joke? You're joking right? I mean, there's no way he can be dead! Haha, this is a funny joke. Haha, ha..." "Ma'am. This isn't a joke. I'm a homicide detective. My name is Brother Vision." "...No... no it can't be true... not my Plinkie... Please, not my Plink... anything but that..." She looked at him on the verge of tears, her eyes clearly saying that she just wants him to lie to her. But she knew he was dead. And that she would never see him again. Pale stepped out of the kitchen and into the living room. The living room was adorned with almost nothing, it was as grey as the mood was. Pale Horse would never be happy again, Vision was sure. She curled into a ball and cried. Brother went to comfort her, and sat her down on the couch. "There, there, it's alright, Miss Pale... it's alright." Brother put her into his arms, and hugged her. "It's alright, miss, it's alright. Everything is going to be okay..." After about 10 minutes of crying, and Vision comforting Pale, she finally stopped. Pale sniffed. "W-what do you w-want to know?" "Plink had a note that said that you wanted to talk to him. It said that you were kind of disturbed." Brother said calmly. Pale was still in his arms. "I-I, I told him to m-m-meet me because... because I needed to tell him something." "It's alright miss, you can tell me. I'm here to help. What did you need to tell him?" Pale sniffed again. "I needed to tell him... I was p-p-pregnant. With his son." Brother groaned silently in his head. It was always the future mothers that affected him the most. Another baby would be born without a father. Pale burst into tears again, and Brother held her even more tightly than before. With a newfound sense of sympathy, he let her cry for a while longer. "Pale, listen to me. I need you to tell me one last thing." "W-what?" "I need you to tell me where he was going after he left." "He-he said that he was g-going to Pony-Mart. I gave him a few dollars in cash, and he left." "Did he say anything when you told him you were pregnant?" "Yes." she sniffed again. "He... he said that it was wonderful news. He was so excited. And now he'll never get to see him..." "How long have you and Plink been seeing each other?" Brother asked. He took out his notebook so that he could jot the information down. "About 2 years... almost nobody knew, except his Dad. When he died, nobody else knew." "Alright miss Pale. Thank you for your help. We'll catch this sick creature, and banish him to the Everfree Forest. Should Celestia see fit, we shall do our best to send him to the moon as well. "Thank you. I... need to be alone for a while." "Alright miss Pale. Have a good day." Brother exited the house with a newfound determination. He was going to catch this sick creature. No matter what the cost. Chapter 3: An Interesting Turn of Events Brother trotted to the victim's last stop; Pony-Mart, instead of heading to the Coroner's Office. Vision wondered how Plink even got the money to shop here; everything was extremely expensive. Then again, Pale Horse had a lot of money. It's possible he could have gotten it there. The Ace Detective quickly went over the case notes before entering the store. He took out Plink's picture, and went in. One by one, Vision asked if any cashiers had seen him. Brother was beginning to think this was a bad lead, until he got to terminal 22; the last one in the aisle. The unicorn here was large. Very large. She had white skin with a black mane that was tied in two very large pigtails. Brother was sort of distracted at the sight. "Yeah, I seen 'dat boy 'round here. Always coming in and buying a ton of food. He had the street look 'bout 'im, so I called th' cops. Turns out he earned that money straight up, so hey. Money spent is money earned. For me, anyways." "Could I get your name, ma'am?" "My friends just call me Sugah. You can call me that too, han'some." She winked at him. Brother wanted this to be over with already. "Well, um, Sugah, do you know where he went after he left?" "Th' boy turned around and left without another word. Left 'is wallet here though." "Ma'am, I'm going to need to take that with me. Were there any possessions in there that you took? Be honest with me here. The last thing I want to do," Brother couldn't believe he was going to say this, but flattery was sure to work on a horse like this. "is lock up a Beautiful woman such as yourself for lying to a detective." "Well well, Han'some. I just so happened to find this Gold Watch that mysteriously fell off his leg. You didn't hear that from me though, baby." She handed Vision the watch, which he took without hesitation. The mark read "Diamond and Sparkle's". He knew that place. "Thank you ma'am, you've been a great help." "Wait up hun'! Here's my number. You call me, y'hear?" "Uh... I will do that miss." Almost as quick as he left the store, he threw the number out. He was glad that was over. Vision then went to Diamond and Sparkle's Jewelry, and, much to his dismay, it looked that a great struggle happened there. On the ground was a brown pegasus, blood coarsing off of her left wing. He checked to see if she still had a pulse, which she did. Vision took his radio out of his pocket. "Detective Brother Vision, Homicide, Badge 1247, I need a bus on Sherluck and Main, possibly reinforcements. Looks like quite a scene in there. I'm going to check it out." "Roger that Vision. Bus and reinforcements are on the way. Over and out." Vision put the radio back in his pocket, then went to attend to the Brown Pegasus's wounds. "Hey, are you alright?" "I... I can't feel my wing! I can't feel it!" "Shh, Shh, hey, it's okay, I'm a police officer, I'm here to help. Can you tell me what happened here?" The young Pegasus sniffed, obviously in pain. "I'm Diamond. A man came in and... and he said to give him the Gold Watch." This made Vision think. She couldn't possibly mean... "Ma'am, is this the watch the man was looking for?" He showed her the watch, being careful not to get overexcited and trip over himself. "Yes, that's the one. He... said to give it to him, or else he would kill us. I said I didn't know what he was talking about, so he pulls out a long, sharp sword. I tried to press the alarm, but he grabbed me and cut my wing..." Her eyes widened in clear terror. "Oh no! Sparkle is still in there! Please sir! You have to help her! I don't know what that man will do to her!" "I'll do it. Help is on the way. Tell anyone who comes in a labelled police vehicle or ambulance what happened, okay?" "Yes sir. Now please, help Sparkle!" "Alright, lay low. I'm going in." Vision pulled out his Police Issue Colt Revolver, and inched his way into the store. What he saw was a horrific sight. There was glass all over the floor, Jewelry ridden everywhere, and the occasional pools of blood where Diamond must have fell unconsious. There was no sign of Sparkle. Suddenly, Vision heard a loud crash, followed by a loud scream. It came from the middle hallway. Brother dashed to the end door. He counted in his head... One.... two... three! Vision kicked the door in. "FREEZE!" He shouted. In front of him was a tall, dark figure. It's figure rivaled that of Celestia's, with Black Wings, a black coat, and a giant, pointed unicorn horn. He had no pupils, and his very prescense seemed to drain the good-will of Vision's personality away. And with him, was a giant, pointed Sword; the sword of ancient myth, Ragnell. The figure turned around. You fool. Brother closed his ears, dropping his gun in the process. It was in his head! You do not meddle in the affairs of gods. Leave this place, and I will let you live. Vision shook his head, and grabbed his gun. He pointed it at the creature, whatever it was. "I can't do that. Let the lady go!" Are you so foolish as to defy me? You will regret your decision in the Hells. As quickly as it said this, it charged forward with the sword, plunging it into Vision's chest. Vision was so shocked by this, that he didn't even feel the pain. It was only until he looked down that he felt it. Blood was trickling down the blade's orange tip, and onto the ground below. Vision then screamed. It was your own foolishness that brought about your death. Blindly protecting the weak results in death. Remember this, in the afterlife that awaits you. The creature pulled the sword out, and Vision collapsed. He curled into a ball, and was lying in his own pool of blood. "What... What... are you..." Foolish mortal. I am the Great Zelgius, General of The Overlord Ashnard, Son of Sephiran, and the Bane of Innocence. "Why are you... doing this..." I need not answer your pathetic questions. Begone, pathetic creature. I shall waste no more time with you. Zelgius then vanished into nothingness, and Vision began to grow cold. In his eyes, he saw Sparkle, cut in two in the corner. As with Plink, she looked as if she was at peace. Immediately, the doors burst open, and Vision's squad came in. Seeing him, they carried him to the ambulance, and shipped him to the hospital. The case was never solved. It was left open, and Vision lost his lower left leg in the process of the surgery. He now flies anywhere he goes. 3 YEARS LATER... Vision. Vision, wake up. "What... whos there?" "It's me, boy. Sprinkles. How's your leg treating ya?" "It's... fine." "Good. Listen, Vision... we need your help. We think we have a lead on the case you were on 3 years ago." "What? I already told you... the killer got away." "Well, we have someone who says he knows what happened to Plink and Sparkle." "Who?" "...Zephyr Wind." Chapter 4: Zephyr Vision slowly found his way to Zephyr's home. He was worried what might happen if he re-opened this case, but it had to be done. Finally arriving at Zephyr's home in Cloudsdale, he knocked on the door very carefully with his right hoof. His left was mangled from his brutal surgery. Being unconscious for 2 and a half years didn't really help either. "Coming!" Said a soft voice. Brother knew that voice all too well; his former crush, Fluttershy. He knew from the start this was NOT going to be a pleasant visit. The locks became undone, and Brother considered leaving. He didn't want to face her again, not after all these years. But, like a rock, he stood there. The door opened. And out stepped Fluttershy. You know, somehow I knew something like this would happen... Vision thought to himself. "...Hello Fluttershy." "Brother Vision... Hi." There was a long silence. Fluttershy looked at Vision with pity. Brother could barely stand to look at her any more. Not after what happened ten years ago. "Uh... may I come in?" "If it's about money, then no. I'm not going to help you ruin your life any more." "Fluttershy, all of that is in the past. What happened ten years ago... it doesn't matter now. We've got to--" "Hey, who's there?" Said a good mannered, yet assertive voice. Brother assumed this was Zephyr Wind. Fluttershy went inside and said "Come in." Vision followed. The house was a dull shade of brown and some shades of gray here and there. It seemed empty, devoid of life. Then again, Fluttershy probably made the house worth living in. "Can I help you?" The voice said again. Vision turned around to see a Pale-Blue skinned pegasus, with Pitch Black hair, a thin frame, and wise brown eyes. He wore two black bands around his front hooves, and he had a kind, yet stern look on his face. He obviously didn't feel comfortable with him here. "Uh... my name is... is..." Vision was sweating. He felt extremely nervous. His first love was here, and then his loves Boyfriend was here as well. It was tearing him apart, seeing Fluttershy with another man. But he had to get over it. It was all in the past. "...Brother Vision. A pleasure to meet you sir." "Well, what do you need?" Zephyr asked impatiently. "As you know, I'm Brother Vision. I'm a homicide detective from Ponyville, and I was told you had information on a 'certain subject'." Zephyr's eyes widened with suprise. "And just what did you see?" "...Perhaps it would be better to discuss this in private." Brother quickly glanced at Fluttershy, who was staring at him. Her gaze may have been one of pity, but it's one he'll never get a chance to be with. "...Alright. Let us talk in private. Flutter, I'm going to talk to Brother upstairs. I'll talk to you later." "...Okay." Brother and Zephyr went up the stairs. He was suprised at what he saw; it was actually much more different than the rest of the house. This part was more of a dark shade of green and blue, rather than the other Gray overtones. Zephyr interrupted my wonders. He slicked back his hair, and said "Well, what did you see?" "...I saw... a prescense. It was pitch black, and whenever it first looked at me, I felt... I felt like everything I knew was going to wither and die..." "Go on." "...It called itself Zelgius, and... it spoke... in my head. It was wearing a a huge suit of armor; as black as a moonless night, and a Black and Red cape... Only his face was visible." "What did he do when he saw you." "He... spoke to me. He said that protecting the weak would bring only death... and then he charged at me, and plunged his sword into my chest. Almost immidiately I lost feeling in my left hoof, and I collapsed soon after. He told me that... that endless pain awaited. I feel him. I do not feel safe any more, no matter where I go." "...Brother." Zephyr said calmly. "What did it say it served?" "What do you mean?" "What did he say? Did you ask what or who it was? Who did it say it served?" "...Something about being the Chosen of Ashnard or some such, and being the Son of Sephiran..." "Oh Mein Gott... This is far worse than I would have feared." Zephyr anxiously paced in the air, rubbing his hoof against his head in obvious thought. "Do you know something about this?" "Brother, you have no idea how bad this is. They'll be back. With an army." "Hold on, man! What are you talking about?!" "It's written... 'When the Dark Son rises, all shall fall to the Dark Armies.' Oh no, this is so bad, so very bad. Do you--" Brother blacked out. He was no longer in his body. He was spectating from high above Cloudsdale; what he saw was the most terrifying sight he had ever "seen". Cloudsdale was in ruins; there were dead men, women, and children all around, houses burned to the ground, blood soaking the clouds with it's tainted contents, raining down upon Equestria. Anywhere the blood touched, it turned that area into a desolate wasteland. Men, Women, and Children were rained upon, and they were erased from existance, dead almost as soon as the storm hit them. Brother couldn't take it any more; there were so many screams of terror, pain, and suffering, crying of children, and, just then, on the horizon, the prescence; Zelgius; stood. It faced Ponyville with no remorse in it's face. On it's armor was the blood of those he had killed, an army following him. Fires ravaged the land, and blood soaked the grass. Zelgius laid one last look at the land he destroyed, and charged for Ponyville, his home. What followed was a bloodbath; innocent people being killed in the streets, burning of homes, and complete decimation of the town followed. A loud, manic laugh came from Zelgius, as he had claimed victory that day. Then Vision saw something that made him fill with rage and total despair; The body of Heine was there, in front of Brother's home. She had the look of complete shock on her face; and Brother cried and cried, even though he knew it wasn't real. Seeing his only friend dead on the streets of a ruined Ponyville was too much for him to bear. He retreated further into his mind, and wallowed in sadness... Outside of Vision's mind... "Vision! Vision wake up dammit!" Zephyr was extremely frustrated. He didn't even know who this guy was, and here he was, taking a dirt nap in the middle of his house. Fluttershy came into the room. "What's going on?" She asked. "Vision just collapsed on the ground! Go get help!" "...No." "...What?! How can you just say no!? Look at him! I mean..." Zephyr was extremely shocked. Fluttershy had never siad no to helping someone before. Then it dawned upon him. "You... you... knew him, didn't you?" "...Yes." "Who is this guy!?" "He's... an old friend that I gave up on long ago." "...What did he do?" Zephyr looked down upon Vision's still unconscious body. He looked as if he was dreaming. He was grimacing and shifting, but he responded to no stimuli. If he had harmed Fluttershy in any way, he would throw him out of here in a heartbeat." "He was a Gambler, and I was a fool helping him. He became obsessed with it, trying to win money so that he could take me someplace nice." "You mean... you were dating him." Zephyr was indifferent; he had already thought of this before. Fluttershy was bound to have attracted attention before he met her anyways. He was sure of it. "Yes. For the longest time. But... it ended when he lost all of his money to a poker game. He practically begged me for more money until I left him. He was devastated, I could tell." Zephyr stll wasn't suprised; she tended to help those she thought needed it, even if it did affect her own life. He looked at Vision again. Even when he was grimacing, he could tell from his face that he had a permanent sensation of sorrow and regret. Zephyr had that quality, to look at their faces and gauge their personality. He could only wonder what he was dreaming about. In Vision's mind... Vision was alone in darkness. He could see nothing, hear nothing, feel nothing. Suddenly, the entirety of the place he was in flashed white. At the end of the hall, there was a large Stallion, clad in white, with a long black mane, and violet eyes. His expression was one of sorrow, and regret, similar to Vision himself. "Uh... Hello?" The stallion turned around, suprised. "Hello. Who might you be?" "My name is Brother Vision." "Vision... so you are..." The horse shook his head. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sephiran." Brother Vision knew this wasn't going to be pleasant. At least, he thought it wasn't. He was in the realm of Sephiran; and he could only hope that he was one of the good guys. Chapter 5: Fallen Angel Sephiran - Coming Soon! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, Let me know what you guys think. Still a huge WIP so work with me here. (Yes, I got permission from Zephyr Wind to include him. Just putting that out there.)
