I'd love to have a shiny starter. A black Charizard sounds so cool. The only shiny I've found is a shiny Mankey (which isn't great) and the Red Gyarados (which hardly counts). Although my friend has had even worse luck with shiny pokemon. A shiny Golbat killed itself in confusion and a shiny Graveler and Electrode used self-destruct. He was pretty annoyed.
I have about 15 shinies. I can't remember them all, believe it or not, but I know I had a shiny Golbat and Rattata
AWWWYEAAA Just finished Red the other day. Team was-Zapdos, Articuno, Graveler, Vausaur (sp ><), Rapidash, Snorlax <3 and in it I forgot to catch Mew (you can do it in r/b/y, but its a glitch that you have to do at a certain point in the story). Lookin' foward to restartin my blue, getting pokemon Conquest, and of BW2 ;D
Snorlax is just awesome. If I could start off with one, I reckon I could beat the whole game with just Snorlax. It literally destroys everything. Nope, you can replace the save battery in the game cartridge. That's what I did for Pokemon Gold. Then you can also emulate it if you really want to.
My battery did that too, I really must change it. All my first pokemons... Gone! And what's this Mew glitch?
First time I went into grass in Emerald, shiny popped out. I've seen a shiny ditto, shiny GOLD MAGIKARP, the red Gyarados in Gold and a few others.
Something I posted earlier on in this thread: You can also get a few other pokemon, not just Mew. Although Mew is the best pokemon you could get from it.
The game uses a standard CR2025 battery, although a CR2032 battery also works. I've successfully replaced the battery of my own game and the cartridge of 3 of my friends. Here's the link if you want it: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-replace-the-battery-in-a-pokemon-goldsilve/
Doesn't really matter to me. I got nothing left to play it on... Well, i do. But i cba to get my GB fixed.
There's always emulators. Although personally, I prefer playing on the actual console. It just feels right. It was actually pretty fun to replace the battery, although if you look at the inside of the cartridge, you just see a battery taped to a circuit board. Who needs soldering?
Playing on an emulator isn't the same at all. For nostalgic games, i try to keep things as original as possible.
That's what I think. Although I can't actually play most of the nostalgic games I want to play without emulating. Like I've said many times before, I wich I was older so I could appreciate these older games more.
I still have my Game Boy. It's over there on the window sill. Got 'Blue in it. All fired up. Unused, but ready. *dusts with sleeve*
I bought a Gameboy Color in a car boot sale recently. Only £2, bargain of the century. Although it doesn't have a back cover. I've looked only for some and they cost at least £5, which is more than twice what I paid for console itself (I am so good at maths). I would still have my original gameboy but my brother got rid of it long ago.
I always lost the covers xD I just used tape. I got an original one for £10, which I then went about taking apart for several hours in Electronics, but those GODDAMN CHINESE TRIANGLE SCREWS made me sad. So I used a Pillar Drill. It is in pieces in a plastic envelope by my bed. I used it to vacuum mould it.
