Based on my small "review" on the latest Pirates of the Carribean movie, i found another topic that may be interesting to discuss. Who is the best antagonist pirate? Hector Barbossa Captain of the Black Pearl and main villain throughout the first movie. His purpose was to retrieve all the cursed gold which he and his crew spent. They were suffering from the curse and went through hell to try and reverse it. This made Barbossa into a very redeemable character throughout the other movies that followed, and proved to be a true asset to the PotC series so far. My personal favorite. Davy Jones Captain of the Flying Dutchman. Like Barbossa, he and his crew are also cursed to sail the seas forever, guiding the souls of those who died at sea to the other side. Davy Jones initially did this with the hopes of seeing his one true love again, but he was betrayed by her. Neglecting the task he was charged with he became the terror of the seas, offering cowardly sailors a way to cheat death by joining his crew. Davy Jones is considered to be the main antagonist throughout the second and third movie, which is the most important part of the story. Sao Feng The chinese Pirate Lord of Singapore. While not considered to be one of the "main" antagonists, considering he dies halfway through the third movie, i still felt compelled to add him to this list. Because he's just that likeable as a character. Edward "Blackbeard" Teach Captain of the Queen Anne's Revenge and wielder of a sword that brings any ship he sails to life. His purpose is to find the Fountain of Youth in order to prevent his own prophesized death. He pretends to be as fearsome and cruel as he can be, but in my opinion, he would sh*t his pants at the sight of Davy Jones. Some people complained about plotholes like "Why isn't he one of the Nine Pirate Lords?" Well if you can't see why he doesn't deserve that, you're not a very true fan of the movies. In my own opinion, Blackbeard was an unworthy antagonist.
Pintel and Ragetti. Those guys are the best. Joking aside, the best pirate in history was Edward Lowe. In the movie, Blackbeard. I have an afini... ifini... oh, buck it. I like characters with ties to real people. *pout* Afinity? Ifinity? Ifinaty? ... Oh. Affinity.
I agree, Barbossa. Go back and watch the movies. He carried the first and third ones, and the lack of him is why the second movie was meh... He was great in 4 too.
I think that the best pirate is one eyed willy. But since he isn't in Pirates of the Carribean then I'd say Barbossa.
