Which sequels pretty much ruined everything you loved about the original? Mine are... Superman IV: The Quest for Peace Batman Forever Batman & Robin Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Star Trek V: The Final Frontier Star Trek: Insurrection Star Trek: Nemesis Alien: Resurrection Matrix Revolutions Live free or Die Hard A Good Day to Die Hard The Lost World: Jurassic Park Jurassic Park III Blues Brothers 2000
Superman Returns And while they're not technically sequels, i'm gonna give the Star Wars prequels an honorable mention.
Starship Troopers 2: Heroes of the Federation. 5 minutes of actual fighting the bugs and boobs scene didn't distract me from the 90 minutes of playing hide and seek with each other. Also, honorable mention to Company of Heroes 2. I know it's game but it made the Russians look worse than they already are and made the core game crippled without wasting $48 dollars for DLCs.
Paranormal Activity 2-5. The first movie was not bad and had me thinking it was real for split moments on end. xD Further more, the main focus keeps changing from then on...like, one is abut the main character's past...then it was about a child...and bad CGI effects. You ruined what could've been a good film with one movie. All I have been getting is "Oh, this movie was popular. Here, let me give you crap because I know you would watch it anyways. *throws movie in face* Didn't even try! :3"
The Matrix Reloaded - Totally unnecessary, and negated everything good about the original Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace - Turned Darth Vader, the greatest villain in movie history, into a whiny little kid with mommy issues. Batman and Robin - Nippled Batsuit, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - The less said about this cinematic abortion, the better.
- Jaws the Revenge - Alien Resurrection - Jurrasic Park 3 - All the Land Before Time movies after the first one
THE BAT CREDIT CARD!!!! I'LL KILL YOU JOEL SCHUMACHER!!!! The worst memories of my life have now returned *cringes*
Bad sequels- anything animated, anything mental-horror, anything past a third in a series, anything about superheroes that is not the original incarnation of said heroes big screen adventures (live action wise) anything with super-buff-bad-accent actors when they were not in the first.
The Wolverine was just an entirely pointless sequel to The Last Stand, and an equally pointless addition to the X-Men movie universe.
Any cash-grab Disney sequel, like: - Cars 2 - The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride - The Lion King 1 ½ - The Return of Jafar - Aladdin and the King of Thieves - Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World - The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea The list goes on, but you get the idea.
It was okay, until you compare it to the original. Just look at the songs. For villain songs, "My Lullaby" was actually fairly decent... until you put it up against "Be Prepared." For the love song, "Love Will Find A Way" was okay... but it has nothing on "Can You Feel The Love Tonight." The Lion King was a classic piece of animation... the sequel was just a cartoon.
Maybe it wasn't as good as the first, but it was still a good movie and a worthy sequel. And it was in no way a cash-grab movie. That's what the 3rd movie was.
Aliens 3 and Resurrection. 3 was watchable but was in no way as memorable as it's predecessors. Resurrection was one of my worst life experiences.
