That was, of course, an exaggeration. However, the arrival of Tetris did help some Americans realize that the Soviets were not the monsters that they had been led to believe.
I browsed 3 pages and nobody posted Deus Ex. What the **** is wrong with you people? DX had a good storyline, interesting and sometimes funny characters, Human Revolution is just.. Wow, man GOTYAY. The open world all free for you to explore, you can complete the game on the hardest difficulty levev without upgrading any augmentations.. You can play it as a stealth, shooter, assasin, hacking or puzzle game, whatever you want. I've yet to play Invisible War, that's next on the list. Suggestiin on playing the series: First, Human Revolution. When you blow up something and hide in a cargo container, play The Missing Link. Then complete HR. Then, the original Deus Ex Finally Invisible War. 2027-2052-2072, in chronologic order. Just my two cents. But yes, best game series. Ever.
It amuses me to see you young whippersnappers posting games like Halo and Call of Duty and Deus Ex. Sure, they're good, but will they still be memorable in twenty years? Have you ever heard of a game called Burgertime? It was one of the best games ever... until the SNES was released and it fell into obscurity. The truest test of a game's value is time.
No game has sapped as much of my time as the Civilization series and Super Smash Bros. Me and my friends played it every saturday for 3 years. I did get sick of how my friend always went the same character. Where as I mained about 10.
Well, for people who like them and/or play them a lot, probably yes? I don't really see what's so amusing when people post a recent series as one of their favorites. What, does it have to be old, pre-2000, to be a valid opinion? lol
I remember most games I've played in my life, even if it was just once. So technically all the games I play are memorable. Halo 2 was the greatest of them all. And what's best is that I have many friends who shared that same feeling and experience with me.
Halo revolutionized the story-driven FPS. It will most likely not fade into obscurity. Shooters that focus solely on gameplay, with the story added as an afterthought, rarely survive longer than a few years. Remember the Medal of Honor series?
Well, Doom, Quake and Unreal survived pretty well these years (maybe Duke Nukem too? not sure.), and the entire focus was put on gameplay rather than story. Though, that was 20~ years ago, nowadays it's much harder/borderline impossible for a Shooter with that concept to shine.
I only started playing FPS's within the last three to four months but I play more Call of Duty than I do Half Life or Killzone.
For me I would have to say the Jak & Daxter trilogy on the Ps2 I loved those games as a kid and just recently bought the HD collection on the PS3. We lack great games such as those back from that time. Nowadays everything is so focused on online multiplayer (not a bad thing necessarily) but I honestly think we lack quality games that we had back in those days.
Any games where your actions change the gameplay AKA The Walking Dead Jurrasic Park but other than those types of games I would have to say Resident Evil
I think some of my favorites are the Max Payne, GTA, Civilization, Fallout, anything by Valve, and the classic Call of Duties and Medal of Honors. You know, before it was all modern warfare, killstreaks, and online multiplayer.
First Unreal Tournament was the best My two favorite series' has to be Bioshock and Dead Space. I'm also a big fan of Fallout 3, and even though I haven't played it yet, I know I would enjoy Fallout:NV as well. But since Fallout:NV is basically just more of Fallout 3, and I have Skyrim, it hardly seems worth getting. But regardless, I'm a fan of Bethesda games. And if Bethesda makes a second Dishonored...that'd be another favorite series. I also have not played Borderlands or Fable extensively, but I really liked what little of them I did get to play, so you could consider me a fan of those as well.
