So I started the Second half of Sword Art Online, because it's up on my usual site. Spoiler: MASSIVE SPOILERS THAT WILL SPOIL IT Where they get out of the game. I'm not crying, and these aren't tears. It's sweat. Bear sweat. The souls of the bears I defeated in battle are crying because I beat them up too hard.
SOA is pretty good, isn't it? I spent probably almost 2 years of my life completely immersed in an mmorpg, so that show really hits home for me. I liked the first half better than the second, but the second half definitely has its merits...I personally felt the ending was a bit too ... "convenient", but very satisfying. As for me...I won't even attempt to remember all the shows I've seen since I last posted here lol. The best one I ran across by far though would have to be Kokoro Connect. This show is amazing is so many ways...it's unreal. You'll know feels like you've never dat feel'd before lol. For the longest time I've been looking for something to rival Toradora! as far as romantic drama/comedies go, and this one was just as good or better. So if you liked Toradora, definitely give Kokoro Connect a try. [you can find it on crunchyroll but they only have the first 13 eps there, the rest you have to find elsewhere.] Also, Attack on Titan's first season finally came to an end. Mind = blown. I garantee that show is going to be the next Naruto in terms of popularity, and with the amount of AoT talk I'm hearing on the interwebz, combined with how many AoT cosplayers I saw at NYCC, it seems very likely. That and they have another 80 or so volumes planned for the manga, so it'll prolly be dam near as long. I'm also keeping my eye on Watamote, another of my favorites this season. The first season just wrapped up, but I'm going to be buying the mangas....really hoping the anime gets a second season though, there is so much potential story yet to be tapped, but somehow it just doesn't seem likely. Oh yeah, and for anyone interested, I made a nice long post on another forum about all the sneak peaks and upcoming stuff I got to hear when I went to a couple anime companies' panels during the con. I won't bore you with the whole thing, but I'll give you the highlights. 1. They just screened the English dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0 in America, and I can personally tell you that it is awesome. 2. Madoka Magika: Rebellion is now airing in Japanese theatres. (The third Madoka Magika movie) And the story is completely new and original. 3. Magi and Blue Exorcist are getting movies. 4. A bunch of new shows are coming out, many have started to appear on the major streaming sites like crunchy roll. The one I'm most excited for? Samurai Flemenco. The guy at the Aniplex panel described it as the "anime version of Kickass" and it's being done by the same people who worked on Samurai Champloo, which I liked a lot. Others that seem to be really popular are Kill La Kill and Infinite Stratos 2, although those are by no means the only ones. I can get you guys the updated release list for the fall season if anyone is interested. 5. Monogatari is getting a second season, for anyone interested in the series. I haven't seen it yet, but it's on my list.
No One Piece manga this week~. I has a mega sad. Have you seen Clannad? That series is a feelsmobile.
Not yet, but it's on my list. On my other forum we have a thread called "Anime that made you cry" and Clannad is probably one of the most mentioned shows lol. Not sure if my body is ready for the feels xD
There's one scene in an episode of Clannad After Story (sequl series to Clannad where the biggest feels happen) that requires having seen Kanon to get the maximum lulz from it. It's not important to the plot or anything, though.
Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of anime reference others..some a bit too much. Like Lucky Star for instance, you won't 'get' like half the jokes if you haven't seen like a dozen or so specific animes that they reference over and over lol. Not sure if Kanon is on my list or not, I'll have to check. Is it Kanon or K-ON?
Not sure how I've missed this thread. My favorites in no particular order- Hellsing (original and OVA) Evangelion (ALL OF IT) Cromartie Highschool (English dub is the only way to watch it) Nichijou Gundam SEED Berserk Detective Conan The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (Hataraku Maou-sama!) Favorites are mainly just ones I re-watch every year or two. I don't really have a favorite genre, I like ones with massive blood and violence as much as I do ones that are a slice of life and funny.
I was just about to answer your question in the other thread, but I see you've found it ha. Cute professor ava btw. ^.^ NGA and Nichijou are two of my favorites too, actually just got done rewatching 2.22 like a minute ago lol. Have you seen 3.33 yet? btw, if you ever want any show recc's I have about a bazillion suggestions if you're interested (I watch wayyy to much animu haha)
I have watched all of Evangelion, episodes and movies, multiple times, it is my most watched show. I pull most of my anime from watchanimeon, when I'm bored I usually just go down the list and watch up to the first three episodes of different ones.
Yeah NGA is amazing, I saw the primiere of the english dub of 3.33 at NYCC last month, I remember it being awesome but that's about it lol. I'd been up for two days and had a massive headache so I kept nodding off during the movie, I'm gonna try to find the subbed version online somewhere tomorrow prolly. watchanimeon sounds familiar, I think I've used it before but mostly I just browse through crunchyroll and find shows I like, unless they don't have something but usually they do. If you haven't checked it out yet there's a site called http://www.watchcartoononline.com that has just about everything in english dub and a lot of shows that are hard to find elsewhere. When my friend went on it there was a bunch of ads and popups, I don't get any of that with all my ad blockers and stuff but just a heads up in case you wanna check it out. This reminds me, I gotta check thearter listing for the third Madoka Magica movie, I was thinking about maybe taking a trip into NY to go see it.
Has anyone seen Kill la Kill yet? It's a new show by Aniplex that's streaming now. It's pretty wild....picture FLCL, PSG and Samurai Champloo on a drug fueled bender having a crazy 3-way. Kill la Kill would be the baby that came from it. It's crazy, random, awesome and funny as hell...It just may be my new favorite show. However, it does have a lot of fan service. Like...a lot. So some people might be turned off by that. But as long as you don't mind fan service in your anime, it's wicked cool and definitely something you need to check out, especially if you were a fan of Panty and Stocking cuz it's kinda in that same vein.
Never heard of it, fan service is fine if it's not the main selling point of the show. But that's just me though.
Just finished the third season of The World God Only Knows...what an amazing story, I was surprised that the third season had that much depth to it. This show imploded all my preconceptions about anime genres and what good storytelling can be: 5 stars - outstanding. The ending was really bittersweet though, from a writing perspective it was awesome, but from a fan perspective I hate how they left things unfinished between the two of them... Ergh...I can't hold all these feels
Yesterday I watched Soul Eater for the first time on Netflix so yeah on top of Bleach, Digimon Adventure 01, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Data Squad, Digimon Fusion, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball GT, Fooly Cooly, Full Metal Alchemist (2003), Inuyasha, Naruto, Naruto Shippuden and One Piece I now also watch Soul Eater as well. I forgot to post Blazblue Alter Memory for those of you who haven't heard of it is a Anime show based on the Blazblue video games at this moment in time there is no English Dub/ English version so yeah I watch it with English subtitles.
I thought of some shows you might like dbz. Eureka 7 Gurren Lagann Kekkaishi D. Gray Man (kinda similar to Soul Eater) Chrome Shelled Regios Sword Art Online Accel World You might also like Attack on Titan, it's insanely popular right now. But it's also very graphic and violent, not sure if that bothers you or not. Anyway, figured you might find those interesting.
It's funny you say that because I was actually considering watching both Attack on Titan and Gurren Lagann next year so yeah.
Kill La Kill is definitely a great one, i still need to catch up on it though. Anyways other than KLK i enjoy watching Neon Genesis Evangelion (Only had started this series and i love it so far), FLCL, Madoka Magica, Angel Beats, Gurren Lagann, Sgt. Frog, and Tamala 2010 (Highly underrated), theres more to the list but thats all that i can think up of at the moment.
I finally had a chance to see Doubutsu No Mori (AKA Animal Crossing The Movie) the other night and after finishing it, my first thought was that it should have been a series, not a movie. Can anyone recommend a series that's similar?
I've watched; Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro Kuroshi tsuji (I and II) (Had to put a space in there because the website think it's a swear word. :O) Uta No Prince Sama (Thanks to someone mentioning it on here!) Cowboy Bebop Hellsing Vampire Hunter D Tokyo Mew Mew (I'm partial to magical girl stuff.) Negima!? Blood+(Ohmygod amazing~) A stupid Robot anime with a blonde, short haired female main character that was awful. (It was quite dated) .Hack// Can anyone recommend some stuff based on this list? :3
