Oh my. I missed that, tapatalk has bbcode off by default. Please do try and stick to the default (or similar dark colours) text format in general posts! Thanks
Calling them dogs when they don't even have paws, LOL. xD Though I did myself some human features in my ponies. Alright, topic, topic. I kinda like the work from those old school fans, from fiction to art, much better than new fans, with a few exceptions. I guess it's because they force some other stuff in, like series and some lame anime clichés (yes, I like anime, but let's put a line somewhere). Speaking on which, this was my sister's favorite pony: We owned G1s back in childhood, I think I still had a small survivor somewhere. o___o
R4inb0w D45h: Their jaw is fairly different from dogs', but anyway. (still puzzled how the pony stands up) I think I was watching an episode the other day... How come a princess is so easily lost and found? xDDD
What? G1s don't look like dogs. Actually, the pony designs in the pilot special were as close to real horses as MLP got. And the baby pony actually looked like a real foal instead of being all stubby.
She said G4 looked like dogs... At least I didn't say horses are ugly beasts, like somepony at Equestria Daily... .-.
Lol my gf has a older MLP sticker book and coloring book and she has drawn some of the gen 1 characters like the orginal pinkie pie and rainbow dash they dont look bad but im definetly not used to how they look compared to FiM
I can't say I've ever seen an episode of the original MLP shows. It just didn't look like something I would be interested in at the time, since I was more of a Power Rangers pony back then. I blame it on a short attention span, because if something didn't have a lot of action in it, I never seemed to get into it.
As you can probably gather from my handle, I love G1. I was the right gender and the wrong age for it - Draggle's age - during the 1980s. Most of my fandoms are from the 1980s and most of my fandoms are "girly", with exceptions. (Because I was a mentally delayed child, my mind fogged up a lot of the 1970s and mid-to-late 1960s.) For me personally, it was identifying with a character who wasn't a pony that perked my interest with ponies. It didn't take long for the ponies to become not only fun, but a source of comfort for me because of good always triumphed when there were villains in pony episodes. G2, I didn't have a residence (read: I was homeless) when it was new, but I eventually get around to watching in full. My opinion of it when hearing about it and seeing it was "yeah, whatever". G2 was too much like the human world to be all that interesting. G3, I never paid attention to it. It was just there. The art is such a headache to look at, at least for me. G4, I saw its premiere and was very glad to see the ponies having actual adventures again. Honestly, I was somewhat disappointed that the rest of the series turned out to be slice-of-life, but Lauren Faust did say we'd get villains in the next season and I'm looking forward to that. G4 is definitely my favorite next to G1. I'm shocked at how popular G4 became. I remember noticing Derpy on Day One and never thought that a cross-eyed background pony would gain such popularity.
GOOD GRIEF, just what I thought! xDDDD If you want me to be honest, I don't know why Ditz is so... She doesn't appeal to me at all. It's odd to see such a background character be even more popular than the mane cast themselves.
It IS! xDDDD And she's only a derp-eyed pegasus who barely appears in the background. Sad thing is, it's more likely because of teh lulz.
My bad. I misread your post. I don't think the G4s look like dogs either though. They look like deer. The original Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash weren't G1s they were G3s. Unless you're referring to Surprise and Firefly who the G4 versions were based off of.
I vaguely remember being a big fan of the original series way back. I think I was really taken by them in the early to mid 90's. I remember being outside with my little sister and pretending we were ponies from the show together. And I wasn't even that young, I loved them until I was just about to hit my teens at the time. lol I kinda agree on the animation of the original series being kinda "Eh". Then again, it was the 80's after-all. So you have to be a little lenient. They certainly can't compare to most things modern now. But I know, even for the time, they weren't always great. I also think a lot of the younger crowd doesn't like the older ones like they do the newer ones has a lot to do with being current to the times. Of course FiM is tailored more to be relative now, be more trendy, and that's pretty obvious.
In my opinion, the reason us teens, paricularly males, like the series is because we most likely were fans of Lauren Faust's previous works, including Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. My God I loved that show, and it doesn't seem to be a coincidence either, it appears that she's just good at these. Of course, that's my opinion.
I can agree with that. I think Lauren is good at making shows and characters that simply appeal to a lot of people. And especially the younger crowd these days. She's definitely pretty good at what she does.
