I remember watching like a whole DVD of those episodes at one stage of my life.. It was... interesting.
I used to love the old show, but looking back, it's hard to imagine how many shows like that were made entirely for the marketing of toys. Carebears, Robotman, G.I. Joe... Countless others that I'm blanking on right now.. It's odd to imagine how close some of those things became to us, and how it was less about creating a wonderful story, as it was about getting a little consumer hard-wired. It worked though! I loved all the old shows.
Jeeze, I just watched that clip and honestly, it was pretty bland if you ask me. The voices weren't very different, the character designs all looked kinda the same, and that story was very....pointless. But then again, it is a kids show so.

Did watch the G1 series when I was about 5 actually. I still remember some of it, mostly the villains.
I got all the first generation episodes some weeks ago. I used to watch this show on TV when I was a child. Now... it is a little.... soft?
Going back to the past. It would have been very awkward for somepony as myself to watch MLP. Now going back to the future, its considered normal.
