Naughty words at the end, but seriously? Oh god....
I never realized how terrible Johnny Test was until seeing reviews of it. For some reason I used to like it, but as long as the characters in TV shows didn't do disgusting stuff I was cool with it I guess.
Why do famously annoying Internet things get TV shows now? Why can't a majority of shows have actual substance to them like I remember from the 2000s?
I like to think that Cartoons are so poorly created nowadays (With the exception of a notable few such as Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball etc.) is because of how the media has changed its appeal to a different style of audience and unoriginal ideas. To help me explain my point, I'm going to take Johnny Test (God awful Dexter's Laboratory clone that tries to be cool) For starters, the characters aren't likable at all. They all try to be something they aren't, which alone is reason for me to stop watching. Older shows did this ALOT better. The animation is sloppy and painful to look at. Johnny himself is a cheesy, obnoxious character who is just boring and unoriginal. We then have the networks themselves. In Australia alone, Nickelodeon is filled with absolute garbage that ranges to endless marathons of Icarly and other live-action atrocities that rival the creations of the Disney Channel. Nickelodeon and Machinima are both a good comparison, they were originally both amazing channels on their own right and had dedicated themselves to quality programs that satisfied anyone that watched them. Unfortunately as time passed, the quality of their programming got worse and worse until you avoid them like it's radioactive. Shows that are lucky enough to survive a long run (Spongebob) has lost it's quality overtime. While the new episodes of those shows are extremely average to watch now, you can't help but wonder about the "Good ol' days" when it was in it's prime. I personally believe that it's all about money now. The 1990's was the best era for Cartoons, period. The 2000's delivered some quality stuff as well. The 10's however has been corrupted by corporate sponsoring and all that jazz. While some shows do eventually appear, they are far and few between.
Ohh, have I got a whole slew of horrible shows for you people: -Johnny Test -FREAKIN...BREADWINNERS.... -Yugioh GX -Post-movie Spongebob -Sanjay and Craig -Yo Gabba Gabba -PEPPA...GODDAMN....PIG... -ALL of Dora (including every spinoff) -Fanboy and Chumchum -Secret Mountain Fort Awesome -Uncle Grandpa -Post Season 3 Adventure Time (Too damn confusing to follow) -All of Disney Channel (except for Fish Hooks, Wander over Yonder, and pre-2nd. Dimension Phineas and Ferb.) -Fred the show -Victorius -Icarly -Sam & Cat -Yugioh Zexal
So you don't like Adventure Time now because it has actual depth and a story that needs to be followed? Geez, I'd hate to hear what you say about Game of Thrones...
Wow, usually I just consider most shows I don't like to be oriented to tastes that are different than mine, or that are meant for a very different target demographic, so that really sums it up but on the whole I'd have to say the only television programs I hate are: - All of reality TV That's it. It's awful, it's predictable, and even shows that make references to things that I like and feature interesting people (King of the Nerds, for example) are generally pretty bland and unlikable. The whole genre prides itself on being unscripted when it is, in fact, nothing of the sort. It takes people who might otherwise be likable (might, not always) and makes them appear vapid and two-dimensional. It demeans the people on the show and the viewers. Honey Boo Boo, Jersey Shore, Toddlers and Tiaras and Teen Mom are exactly the kind of things I'm talking about. I hate reality TV.
I know it's a controversial opinion, I know I'm in a very small minority here, buuuut... Why? Well: -I don't like grimdark shows/movies where the villains outnumber the heroes. This is the worst offender in this case. I like Brienne of Tarth and Tyrion Lannister simply because they are by far the only noble and heroic characters in the entire show. Everyone else is a douchebag, and the general mood is dark and depressing -I see it as pointless. If Brienne or Tyrion win the Game of Thrones, then that would be fine, since they would rule Westboros with justice and honor. But everyone else plays the Game of Thrones just for the sake of having power, and if any of them actually wins, they would have no idea what to do with the kingdom they just inherited -Brienne is beautiful, but everyone calls her ugly just because she's taller than everyone else. This caused the actress to be typecast as a villain in sci-fi movies, despite having the potential to be the next Nicole Kidman -too much violence -too much long, slow scenes of characters just talking -the negative influence it has on modern fantasy media, with every new fantasy movie or show going "darker and edgier" to imitate this show -all the cool fantasy stuff (dragons, zombies, magic) is very downplayed -the entire show feels like a Dungeons and Dragons campaign written by a very lonely and hony preteen boy
Just saying, I kinda lost the time to watch it, but when I came back, they were going into Season 5, and it was just too dang hard to get caught up again.
My third revised list: -Anything on MTV/Nick/Nick Jr./Disney Channel/Fox News -Any reality show -Fred -Uncle Grandpa -Family Guy (after "Lois Kills Stewie") -Ben 10 Omniverse -Once Upon a Time (Frozen arc and afterwards) Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2
Would you include shows like competitions/game shows in that category? Ones that I watch sometimes are The Amazing Race and The Block and find them pretty fun to watch... mostly. I will agree to the sorts of shows you list though, the day-in-the-life-of*insert celeb/odd person here* shows. A guilty pleasure I suppose of reality tv would be The Osbournes, but perhaps only because I like Ozzy, but I haven't seen too many episodes of it.
Nah, I consider game shows to be in a different category, though I am rather picky when it comes to those.
That's not fair, Phineas and Ferb is a great show on Disney. The only great show on Disney. Other than that yes. Oh God. That is the worst show of all time. I hate that show with a burning passion. I never really even liked it before the Frozen arc. Then it just got even worse once they put Frozen in.
